>Mother of the child (refered to as Y-san) is a married Japanese woman and was friend of the family. She is in her late 30s/early 40s. “Friday” found out that the in 2013, Y-san was prosecuted for her sexual intercourse with a child below 14-years old. The trial was suspended, as Mackenyu denied the act was against his will.
Yep. Kept it secret though until the kid was 5. His career was almost ruined because Japanese fans are insane. But since he's Sonny Chiba's kid, he made it through
He pulled his stuns really well, but he completely missed the mark on the characterization. Not sure if I should blame him or the writers/directors though. Zoro is supposed to be a laid back himbo, not some edgy stoic guy.
Forget about the anime existing. Even being original, this is simply more fun than any other typical western series or movie.
I NEVER FOUND PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN FUN, sorry I have zero clue why the fuck it's got 5 movies. Maybe the first one was decent but nah I never cared for it.
And that's the biggest "pirate story" in American media. The One Piece LA punches it squarely in the face by having creative powers and fun characters assembling together with wacky plots and action.
It's a 6/10 for me, but then I remember I stopped watching American series so yeah One Piece is probably godlike compared to those.
$10 million an episode, the visual quality and beat for beat shots of the anime/manga are good, anything else that the production company added is shite.
it's "good" because One Piece is good, but it's not a good version of One Piece, and Oda is just cashing out, he will be done working on One Piece within two years and wants to retire
>Announce live adaptation of anime series >Ignore creator's feedback >Fans not really liking what they see >Attack fans >Series is a flop, blame fans
Versus >Announce live adaptation of anime series >Accept creator's feedback >Fans not really liking what they see but since most are OPfans they can't say it >Don't attack fans for whatever (if any) criticism >Series is a "success" (meaning it's not as bad as most of the Netflix adaptations)
Its true that One Piece release wasnt as much of a shit show as Cowboy Beboop, but lets not pretend that this adaptation looks like shit and has the "cheap Netflix production" plastered all over it and that OP fans liked it regardless because they retards that have no standards.
Because it is played completely straight - Zeff has ridiculous beard and ridiculous hat, as it fucking should be, and no retarded millenial writer mocks him for it.
It's all people want from adaptation - stick to it without some fucking writer wanker winking at you that he knows that the thing you are interested in is silly and they are better than it.
they removed Usopps nose, that's a MAJOR change with repurcussions, the production company doesn't care and Oda doesn't have that much influence if something as important as Usopps nose is removed
It is not a "MAJOR" change because it has no relevance to the plot nor does it define Usopp's personality, only his looks. I can completely see Oda being fine with that change. He only cares about changes that make the character's personality different.
???
it literally has plotlines / plotpoints relevant to Usopps nose, a lot of jokes, a lot of character interactions, and it's iconic and character defining to Usopp, if something like Usopps nose can be removed anything can, Oda has no influence or he doesn't care
yes? he's mistaken for another character because he has a big nose, his nose has literally saved the day at multiple occasions, etc, and jokes at the nose expense are now null and void
i get it, "i doesn't matter" who cares, it doesn't change anything, etc etc, you can be a retard like say anon over here
You are a literal retard. You probably still wear velcro shoes
and think that it doesn't "change the personality" but this can now be applied to any character going forward, nobody needs to be sexy, nobody needs to look like that, nobody needs to "X" "Y" and "Z" even Sanji smoking has plotpoints, Brook asking to see panties have it also, etc, removing the "unimportant things" just makes it a lesser version of One Piece, which it is.

You don't seem to understand what "plot" means. No, Kaku being mistaken for Usopp is not a plotline. It has no relevance to the story, it was just a gag, like all the other stuff relating to Usopp's nose.

Still not a plotpoint and that was what you were arguing for.

i am saying it's a major change and Oda loves that it happened, approved of it or has not influence on the show, probably the latter.

Boa Hancock's beauty is in first her face. She can wear whatever she wants as long as she looks more beautiful than any other character to drive how much of a following she gets
They should respect the source material, changing her clothes would be censorship which should never be tolerared
You don't seem to understand what "plot" means. No, Kaku being mistaken for Usopp is not a plotline. It has no relevance to the story, it was just a gag, like all the other stuff relating to Usopp's nose.
yeah I sort of wish they would have included Usopp's nose too, but I did at leasy really like the guy they got to play him, and he looks enough like the character nose aside.
Oda carried it by having the power to intervene if the studio went to far from the source material, which happened reportedly multiple times, forcing them to reshoot some scenes.
Netflix won with this one despite being Netflix, not because of it.
then how come all the changes in characters apperances and the deletion of Usopps character / nose, i think people are overestimating Oda's influence on this show is Usopp is changed like this, anything is on the table at this point
they removed Usopps nose, that's a MAJOR change with repurcussions, the production company doesn't care and Oda doesn't have that much influence if something as important as Usopps nose is removed
They already did the fake nose thing with Arlong and it sucked, but it gets a pass because he's a monster.
You really wanted them to paste that nose on Ussop? Cuz that's the best they can do. No, he'd feel inhuman.
it was a pretty big deal removing a character trait like that and the precedent has been set with it, anything and everything will be changed now and Oda can't say anything, if he approved of the removal Usopp like this so easily than it's going to be 4Kids level of shennanigans going forward, as i said, Oda influence over the the show is overrated, he is powerless
why are people so hung up on the nose when they also didn't do Usopps big fat balloon lips? Is his nose a key point to the character, his backstory and motivations?
this. weebs watch stuff that they already: >read the manga >watched the anime and/or movies >play videogames if any >watch the live action adaptation
of the same thing... no standards
>Good Nami and Soro >Mid Luffy >Horrible Sanji and Usopp >Characters like Hatchan left out of the story due to obvious budget constraints >Nami's backstory is a huge dowgrade compared to the manga >Useless Garp introduction, should've saved it for later and used Smoker instead, Koby's story is ruined >The rest of the show was alright
It's not a fucking terrible show but it's far from good, 5/10
I do wonder how they intend to introduce future crewmates, if Hatchan and his six arms gave them trouble enough to remove him just imagine how they'll do Chopper, Brooks and Franky. If the show ever gets that far into the story ofc.
The casting by today's standards were pretty fucking good and also the manga creator had almost complete creative control to cut out most of the stupid woke shit
Because the creators were instructed to make One Piece fans their target audience when making the thing. As netflix releases more shit, you'll see more evidence of this but whether they succeed or not while trying to please fans is in the air.
Your argument fails when you realise that Dragon Ball fans will also eat anything, see Dragon Ball Super. But their adaptation gets ridiculed, while One Piece's adaptation get praised. So why?
Now on to the important question. Will they make the Alvida actress lose weight? If yes, the show will cement itself as the most based thing in recent times
wowie, what is this magic of this production that gets literal whos to actually move their asses and train their bodies?
pic related, taz skylar as sanji before and as fat fuck sanji way before
It's an alright adaptation of really strong material. There's a reason One Piece is the best selling comic series in the world. Adapting it is a license to print money, if you don't completely fuck it up.
>There's a reason One Piece is the best selling comic series in the world.
That's just because OPfags have really shit standards, like capeshit or star wars fans. >Adapting it is a license to print money, if you don't completely fuck it up.
Lmao, that's a naive take if I ever saw one.
Because DB Evolution was really careful about adapting the original source material, right?
>Good parts:
Mihawk, Buggy and Zeff.
Helmeppo was decent too and Koby lived up to his part, despite having too much focus
The last four episodes are way better than the first four
Arlong Park is an actual park and even looks a bit like Sabaody
>Decent parts:
Sets are kinda cool, despite overusing them
Sanji and Usopp kinda deliver with their performances
Sanji's kicks look really good
The Pirates of the Caribbean decadent aesthetic they were going for didn't click with me at first, but it kinda works
>Bad parts
Luffy and Nami can't act for shit
Luffy screaming all the time is really annoying
Zoro is a charisma vacuum, right at the part where he had more personality
Scenes that define some characters (Koby standing up to Alvida, Zoro having Luffy's back against Morgan) are cut for no reason when they are really easy to do
I get what they were trying to do with Garp, but they ruined him
Sanji's arc at the Baratie makes no sense
Usopp just looks like an asshole lying all the time if he doesn't have any kids to impress
The CGI is very mediocre, the exception was The Lord of the Coast, he looked good
The Going Merry looks terrible
No sense to have so many disciples at the Dojo, it was supposed to be a small isolated village
Zoro's flashback happening when he's scaping from a well is stupid
Buggy's pirates are defeated offscreen
I don't care if the love the original work or it's their dream job. Nami can't act for shit and way too much changes don't make sense and detract from the experience. If you loved shit like The Witcher Season 1, Squid Game or eat crayons for breakfast, you'll probably love it. Well, or if you've watched the entire anime, because clearly you don't have anything better to do with your life.
>And why Cowboy Bebop didn't?
Pretty easy to answer. >Completely shit on source material >Characters can't act >Boring sets and atmosphere
So basically everything opposite of what one piece did.
>it's fun >pirates are fun, and we haven't had anything good pirate related since PotC >it specifically released AFTER Dragonball Evolution, The Last Airbender and Cowboy Bebop, so it had the advantage of learning from all of their mistakes >had a really good budget so everything for the most part looked really good >carried the spirit of the original manga
Because unlike other anime remakes, people gave a shit about the source material. Oda worked on making it accurate while in comparison the creator of Cowboy Bebop manga coudn't finish watching first episode of live action adaptation of CB
Delusional. It got renewed faster than Wednesday. The show was a massive commercial and critical hit to have been renewed after merely 2 weeks, especially considering how expensive s1 was.
It was expensive because:
1. Oda was autistic about wanting a lot of the ships and set pieces to look really authentic and be built from scratch.
2. He kept demanding reshoots.
>Prove it was successful
Well that's easy. It got renewed for a second season. You can accuse Netflix of a lot of things, but you can't say that they are reluctant to cancel an underperforming show after 1 season.
Especially given how expensive it was. I deal with the finances with stuff like this. This show was expensive and for it to be renewed in 2 weeks after what they spent just speaks for itself.
Discovery sucked. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t successful at first. Its initial premier garnered a dedicated fan base but it was ass so it eventually got canceled. Dude, just do a google search before you talk, are you a fucking zoomie who forgot his ADHD medication? The fuck is up with you? Lmao
On network television, maybe. But not on Netflix, no. Netflix cancels shit left and right even if it actually relatively popular. A show with a budget as high as that of OP needs to be a massive hit for Netflix to consider renewing it.

Yes. I can. At lot of the time they have contracts where they HAVE to do two seasons.
Name an example of a Netflix original that was contractually obligated to have a minimum of 2 seasons. You are literally making this shit up or you are confusing it with other Streaming services like Amazon who have a very different business model and approach to greenlighting their shows.
The problem is there's absolutely no way to verify if a Netflix show is actually a hit or not.
You just have to trust Netflix doesn't lie.
Can't you just admit that it was successful? One Piece is the most popular show on IMDb right now. The actors are also the most popular people in the industry right now with Emily Rudd being #1.
Draw the line yourself extrapolating from the existing data. It's doing about as well as one would expect from its initial entry
This is not real or accurate lol. I keep seeing this posted and it’s just not real. Netflix does not release their view results and metrics, that’s just not something they do. We don’t know if it’s as successful as Netflix is saying but this graph is just a product of some weird homosexual blitzed on cope.
>Netflix does not release their view results and metrics,
Kek, what? >https://www.netflix.com/tudum/top10/tv
Let's count the complete flops of Western live action adaptations:
2008 - Speed Racer
2009 - Dragon Ball Evolution
2013 - Oldboy
2017 - Ghost in the Shell
2017 - Death Note
2021 - Cowboy Bebop
2023 - Knights of the Zodiac
Decent adaptations:
2014 - Edge of Tomorrow >based on a light novel that in 2014 was adapted into a manga, graphic novel and film
2019 - Alita: Battle Angel >recovered financially in physical media and streaming, it took 4 years to confirm the sequel
Bonus:
In the 1990s, Sony Pictures obtained the rights to adapt Akira but was ultimately canceled due to budgetary concerns. In 2002, this rights was acquired by
Warner Bros. The project has reportedly already gone through 13 directors until Taika Waititi was announced in 2017, but so far nothing has been confirmed.
>decent adaptations >alita >Fuck off with your shitty b8.
It was decent because of all the ones I mentioned, it was the only one that had the sequence confirmed. They've been trying to confirm the sequel to Edge of Tomorrow for 8 years and it will probably never come out
Alita had a $170M budget and made $85M domestic and $319M international. It probably lost $50M+. It was not a success among critics and public reception took a long time. If it weren't for home video sales it wouldn't pay for itself. Why it took so long to confirm a sequel
This is not real or accurate lol. I keep seeing this posted and it’s just not real. Netflix does not release their view results and metrics, that’s just not something they do. We don’t know if it’s as successful as Netflix is saying but this graph is just a product of some weird homosexual blitzed on cope.
Not only do they share their metrics, that graph also shows the show doing extremely well. The only show above it is Wednesday, Netflix's biggest hit since Stranger Things.
You are doubly retarded, and so is everyone trying to use the graph as an argument against One Piece doing well.
It's honestly sad just how much tranimetroons seek Cinemaphile's validation. No, tranime is not Cinemaphile nor will it ever be. Stick to your drawn porn for children and the underdeveloped.
Can someone explain why there’s always a handful of dudes in these threads saying the show failed? It was a pretty cool show and it seems like it did pretty good.
>decent casting (zoro's the only actor in the main cast who is bad imo) >not ashamed of the source material's silliness (no scenes where some character sarcastically lampshades Arlong being a shark or snail phones or whatever) >consulted with the author >good sets/costume design >mostly followed the story without adding or removing too much
Luffy was never an underdog in terms of power. The first time he starts to sweat against a foe is Arlong, who was almost as powerful as Jimbei, a warlord of a sea. The first foe he loses against is Crocodile, who we see later duking it out with admirals. His fruit is definetely one of the stronger fruits, not OP but good and perfect for his fighting style.
The first 4 episodes are pretty slow. Didn't like the Kuro bit. The second half is a lot better because there is finally a credible threat and character growth.
Wait wait wait, so this was the first time they allowed the author full creative control?
Well no fucking wonder all the other adaptations failed. People were like, "why's the Discworld adaptation bad?" Because the guy who made Discworld is DEAD
The average IQ of a One Piss fan is about 5. Literally all they had to do is make the actors put on wigs that look pretty close to the cartoon and the dopesmoking microbrains would all be satisfied.
<Whisky Peak cut
<Little Garden cut
<Drum Island cut
where you got that from?
i think they'll just rush through each arc in 1-2 episodes and will take 3-4 episodes for arab asta. little garden might get the snip tho, i haven't watched the anime for more than a decade but iirc there was nothing important happening there anyways apart from baroque homosexuals getting creamed and giants showing up for the first time in the story
monkie d roofy
roofy
hey you guys ever hear the name monkie d roofie?
what about soh-row
I started reading the manga after watching this. It's a lot better, but the adaptation is a pretty okay take on it. My only complaint in the live action so far is Nami, she seems to be a lot more bright and cheerful in the manga while retaining her rascal-ness. live action Nami is kind of drab and deadpan, like she's trying to be like scarlett johansen in the avengers. overall, the cast is pretty good though. the spiclet who plays Luffy is great.
zoro and nami stiffness are along some of the main complaints but i think them adapting the jolly anime slapstick wouldn't work that well either, it would turn into another bebop cringefest.
i hope they'll make them at least a bit more cheerful for the second season tho
how come, Mary tyler moore, Lucille Ball were capable of being bubbly, having slapstick AND be serious and nowadays that is some kind of lost art that can't be replicated
things are different nowadays. everything needs to be super serious, gloomy and overly dramatic in their films and shows.
but then again luffy was portrayed quite well, being a silly nigga most of the time that only ocassionally gets serious when protecting his crew or bystanders
>I started reading the manga after watching this
Same. Didn't even finish the show actually. I thought it was very fun, but also many aspects of it were garbage, like the acting, so I just jumped into the manga. It's great indeed. I don't plan keep watching the show, but I really hope they don't blackwash my waifu Vivi.
I want them to do a movie. Maybe water 7. It could be a limited theater release which then directly goes to Netflix after one or two weeks but it might be fun.
nobody expected it to be actually good and now some eternal contrarians have trouble admitting they liked it as well and instead chose to seethe forever
How do you think they're going to do Chopper and Brook? I have a feeling Brook is going to be a person with Baron Samedi face makeup on instead of a kino CGI skelly.
same way barbie, lego and mario did. its a giant franchise. almost all disney wars movies made bank, and they sucked ass. how's that a question, pablo? i guess its just another disguised shill attempt

It's a 6/10 for me, but then I remember I stopped watching American series so yeah One Piece is probably godlike compared to those.
unironically the production for this show is actually fucking insane. other than that it's shit, but reminds me of campy 90s movies.

No idea why tbh... any anon can help?
iirc they changed arlongs nose after his initial reveal
It's gonna be shit
Its true that One Piece release wasnt as much of a shit show as Cowboy Beboop, but lets not pretend that this adaptation looks like shit and has the "cheap Netflix production" plastered all over it and that OP fans liked it regardless because they retards that have no standards.
>but lets not pretend that this adaptation looks like shit
yeah, lets not
look at the pic in the OP and tell me that doesn't look like shit and I will call you a liar
it looks great
Same reason Luffy succeeds
It has heart
Because it is played completely straight - Zeff has ridiculous beard and ridiculous hat, as it fucking should be, and no retarded millenial writer mocks him for it.
It's all people want from adaptation - stick to it without some fucking writer wanker winking at you that he knows that the thing you are interested in is silly and they are better than it.
they removed Usopps nose, that's a MAJOR change with repurcussions, the production company doesn't care and Oda doesn't have that much influence if something as important as Usopps nose is removed
The actor has a funny nose.
It is not a "MAJOR" change because it has no relevance to the plot nor does it define Usopp's personality, only his looks. I can completely see Oda being fine with that change. He only cares about changes that make the character's personality different.
???
it literally has plotlines / plotpoints relevant to Usopps nose, a lot of jokes, a lot of character interactions, and it's iconic and character defining to Usopp, if something like Usopps nose can be removed anything can, Oda has no influence or he doesn't care
>plotlines/plotpoints relevant to Usopps nose
No?
yes? he's mistaken for another character because he has a big nose, his nose has literally saved the day at multiple occasions, etc, and jokes at the nose expense are now null and void
i get it, "i doesn't matter" who cares, it doesn't change anything, etc etc, you can be a retard like say anon over here
and think that it doesn't "change the personality" but this can now be applied to any character going forward, nobody needs to be sexy, nobody needs to look like that, nobody needs to "X" "Y" and "Z" even Sanji smoking has plotpoints, Brook asking to see panties have it also, etc, removing the "unimportant things" just makes it a lesser version of One Piece, which it is.
>he's mistaken for another character because he has a big nose
Joke, not plotpoint
>his nose has literally saved the day at multiple occasions
No.
>i doesn't matter" who cares, it doesn't change anything
Still not a plotpoint and that was what you were arguing for.
i am saying it's a major change and Oda loves that it happened, approved of it or has not influence on the show, probably the latter.
>does Boa Hancock really need to have revealing clothes, it has no relevance to the plot nor does it define Boa Hancock's personality, she can be alluring in her own way
Boa Hancock's beauty is in first her face. She can wear whatever she wants as long as she looks more beautiful than any other character to drive how much of a following she gets
Skinny with big boobs, yes, like every other girl on there
Hopefully they cast Angela White as Boa
No, you said
>it literally has plotlines/plotpoints relevant to Usopps nose
While in reality it's only jokes
They should respect the source material, changing her clothes would be censorship which should never be tolerared
How old are you anon?
You don't seem to understand what "plot" means. No, Kaku being mistaken for Usopp is not a plotline. It has no relevance to the story, it was just a gag, like all the other stuff relating to Usopp's nose.
Damm this board got stupid fast, go back to/a/ with your ussop nose you keep jacking off about
yeah I sort of wish they would have included Usopp's nose too, but I did at leasy really like the guy they got to play him, and he looks enough like the character nose aside.
Anybody got the edit of his nose getting outta the way when Kaya kisses him?
*getting bent outta the way
Except for Zoro doing exactly that 2 times with the "shouting your attacks' names" thing, but yeah it's minimal
>"shouting your attacks' names" thing
Nice trips but didn't that happen in the manga too? I don't know if it was specifically Zoro though.
They already did the fake nose thing with Arlong and it sucked, but it gets a pass because he's a monster.
You really wanted them to paste that nose on Ussop? Cuz that's the best they can do. No, he'd feel inhuman.
steve martin managed in 20+ years ago.
it was a pretty big deal removing a character trait like that and the precedent has been set with it, anything and everything will be changed now and Oda can't say anything, if he approved of the removal Usopp like this so easily than it's going to be 4Kids level of shennanigans going forward, as i said, Oda influence over the the show is overrated, he is powerless
You are a literal retard. You probably still wear velcro shoes
why are people so hung up on the nose when they also didn't do Usopps big fat balloon lips? Is his nose a key point to the character, his backstory and motivations?
yes, and several jokes.
It’s funny to watch him get dragged around by it whenever he gets knocked out.
Well, yeah, but that's Steve Martin. The man could do no wrong for a majority of his career.
>he's my favorite honky
>IMDB top of the most popular list
>literally have not heard one person discussing it, even beckbearded people in star wars and warhammer tshirts.
There are a lot of weebs that watch stuff like this simply because it's anime
this. weebs watch stuff that they already:
>read the manga
>watched the anime and/or movies
>play videogames if any
>watch the live action adaptation
of the same thing... no standards
They're all under 20
But the posts on Cinemaphile don't seem very organic
>you want to see the things that you like???? no way!! what about this completely other thing?!?!
why would you expect star wars fans to discuss anything good?
Luffy, young Mihawk, Sanji and Zoro are relentlessly handsome.
Buggy's actor is so handsome
They better not ruin ace
>his sexy hot eyes
hhhhnnngggghhhh
>Good Nami and Soro
>Mid Luffy
>Horrible Sanji and Usopp
>Characters like Hatchan left out of the story due to obvious budget constraints
>Nami's backstory is a huge dowgrade compared to the manga
>Useless Garp introduction, should've saved it for later and used Smoker instead, Koby's story is ruined
>The rest of the show was alright
It's not a fucking terrible show but it's far from good, 5/10
I do wonder how they intend to introduce future crewmates, if Hatchan and his six arms gave them trouble enough to remove him just imagine how they'll do Chopper, Brooks and Franky. If the show ever gets that far into the story ofc.
>Koby's story is ruined
How so
Would have been really weird to ditch him after the first two episodes
The casting by today's standards were pretty fucking good and also the manga creator had almost complete creative control to cut out most of the stupid woke shit
that *almost, he doesn't seem that powerful with all the stuff that stayed in, i doubt he has final cut.
Cinemaphile is a chud board which means chud tv shows and chud movies only
The manga went so garbage that fans want go back to when the franchise still has soul
Based take, thank god this isn't /a/ or you'd have infinite (You)s with people telling you "how wrong you are"
/a/ is a pathetic board
Full frontal nudity
Because the creators were instructed to make One Piece fans their target audience when making the thing. As netflix releases more shit, you'll see more evidence of this but whether they succeed or not while trying to please fans is in the air.
One Piece fans will eat anything
Your argument fails when you realise that Dragon Ball fans will also eat anything, see Dragon Ball Super. But their adaptation gets ridiculed, while One Piece's adaptation get praised. So why?
Now on to the important question. Will they make the Alvida actress lose weight? If yes, the show will cement itself as the most based thing in recent times
No one cares about a 5/10 show
>"No one cares", says increasingly nervous Cinemaphiletard in one piece thread #3573 nineteen days after release
Spamming bot threads and bumping your own threads doesn't make your show good
You are a homosexual
she actually has lost a bunch of weight to keep the role
KINO INCOMING then
Dang, she's looking good.
Would smash at both stages
She is currently losing weight and working out to show the slim down effect. So, yes.
wowie, what is this magic of this production that gets literal whos to actually move their asses and train their bodies?
pic related, taz skylar as sanji before and as fat fuck sanji way before
Good for him keeping his ass fat
all the men are hot
so many women watch this because of zoro, luffy, sanji, mihawk, and buggy
It's an alright adaptation of really strong material. There's a reason One Piece is the best selling comic series in the world. Adapting it is a license to print money, if you don't completely fuck it up.
>There's a reason One Piece is the best selling comic series in the world.
That's just because OPfags have really shit standards, like capeshit or star wars fans.
>Adapting it is a license to print money, if you don't completely fuck it up.
Lmao, that's a naive take if I ever saw one.
Because DB Evolution was really careful about adapting the original source material, right?
Mary Ann is cute.
According to Emily Rudd, Udo Kier joined the cast for S2. That's pretty kino. Do you think he'll play Smoker?
too old, will probably play igaram
all of the actors are too old, except luffy
Udo Kier is like 45 years older than smoker is meant to be though, he's fucking 78
would be a kino choice for smoker for sure
He is too old retard
>Do you think he'll play Smoker?
Nah, he'll probably play this dude
>According to Emily Rudd,
Emely should learn to keep her mouth shut
Too old, probably Crocus, Igaram or Hiluluk
Unfathomably based actor. Definitely too old for Smoker, likely either Igaram or Crocus (as others have said)
He'll probably be the bartender that talks to luffy
>Luffy screaming all the time is really annoying
Lmao
Mihawk's part was shit, they ruined his duel and subsequent speech for no reason
i'm just curious how they'll handle their gay arc
And why Cowboy Bebop didn't?
>And why Cowboy Bebop didn't?
Pretty easy to answer.
>Completely shit on source material
>Characters can't act
>Boring sets and atmosphere
So basically everything opposite of what one piece did.
I hope at least that they hint in the series that Luffy stays with Nami in the end
Oda has stated there is no romance among crew members.
Hancock will win.
That rape victim has no chance against Nami.... Boa will LOSE
Nami has taken fishman cock and has been regularly captured.
Nami is pure and everyone knows it
a woman who knows how to use "happiness punch" can't be pure
>makes luffy diamonds in this very scene
>years later says luffy's only love is for adventure
Oda is a cuck
>it's fun
>pirates are fun, and we haven't had anything good pirate related since PotC
>it specifically released AFTER Dragonball Evolution, The Last Airbender and Cowboy Bebop, so it had the advantage of learning from all of their mistakes
>had a really good budget so everything for the most part looked really good
>carried the spirit of the original manga
Did someone mention the disgusting fishmen?

Because unlike other anime remakes, people gave a shit about the source material. Oda worked on making it accurate while in comparison the creator of Cowboy Bebop manga coudn't finish watching first episode of live action adaptation of CB
My dad loves watching live-action anime adaptations. He doesn't even watch the anime or read the manga.
Normie cancer then, the definition of a tourist
It didn't.
2. He kept demanding reshoots.
>and be built from scratch
Except they got reused from previous TV series, that's why they filmed in South Africa.
There are videos all over the Internet of them, quite literally, being built from the ground up. You cumbrained silly goose .
>1. Oda was autistic about wanting a lot of the ships and set pieces to look really authentic and be built from scratch.
But all the ships are second hand from Black Sails...
Is Black Sails worth watching?
It's full of literal homosexuals
exactly the opossite. It is not a show about a bunch of tree twigs tied together, or is it?
Prove it was successful without citing anything released by Netflix.
>do a google search for me
How about you suck me?
>Prove it was successful
Well that's easy. It got renewed for a second season. You can accuse Netflix of a lot of things, but you can't say that they are reluctant to cancel an underperforming show after 1 season.
Especially given how expensive it was. I deal with the finances with stuff like this. This show was expensive and for it to be renewed in 2 weeks after what they spent just speaks for itself.
You are high. Plenty of shit that isn't successful gets renewed.
Star Trek Discovery comes to mind.
The problem is there's absolutely no way to verify if a Netflix show is actually a hit or not.
You just have to trust Netflix doesn't lie.
I don’t trust Netflix but I trust their greed. The spread their ass financially for this show and renewed it faster than they’ve ever renewed another show. The anons that are ignoring this fact are just huffing industrial grade copium or they’re ACTUALLY retarded.
Well, It wasn't cancelled, so it clearly did well enough for Netflix to want to spend money on a second season. Also you can usually tell a show is popular when literally everyone starts talking about it. Like every major youtuber was praising One Piece and talking about how much of a surprise it was.
>Also you can usually tell a show is popular when literally everyone starts talking about it
So then One-piece isn't popular. Cause literally no one outside of Cinemaphile is talking about it.
You have no friends or other form of social contact outside Cinemaphile, it seems
Nah, I'm just white
I think Netflix is paying you fags to stir shit up.
I have a good job and literally no one talks about this shit at work.
is that why you're on Cinemaphile at 9am on a monday?
You think I can't post from work?
And its 10:30.
take a picture right now
I'm not doxxing myself at work homosexual.
taking a picture of your workplace is not "doxxing", you liar. take a picture right now or never post again.
Yes it is.
Fuck off.
you're such a fucking liar. nobody believes you and nobody loves you.
No one talks to YOU about it buddy. You’re on Cinemaphile coping over a fucking pirate anime adaptations success, so I imagine you’re a stinky homosexual in real life lmao
whoops wrong one
https://www.youtube.com/live/xURQR93X5Zs?si=ndionjqz_FUc0t4V
Why are you posting literally who e-celebs like their opinion matters and they wouldn't do whatever you want for $5?
All of the channels praising One Piece had zero issue shitting relentlessly on Cowboy Bebop, how do you explain that? Did Netflix's $5 cheque bounce prior to the Cowboy Bebop release?
But I just told you that every major youtuber was talking about it. Even the Critical Drinker and his clique of anti-woke outrage farmers have praised this show. You know something is getting big when even the people who make a career being negative about modern media make an exception and excessively praise something.
>But I just told you that every major youtuber was talking about it
Yes because Netflix paid them to.
prove it
did they pay the millions of people agreeing with them too?
You mean the sheep that always watch the literally who youtubers and always agree with them?
If it was so easy, why didn't Netflix pay them to say something nice about Cowboy Bebop or Resident Evil or the Death Note live action?
Because that’s not how it works and they know it. These miserable, no chinned homosexuals are coping over the fact people like this show. I don’t even know why they care.
Why wouldn't they praise everything and get lots of company deals if everyone who watches will agree with them no matter what they say?
because he's trolling.
why didn't Netflix pay them for any of their other shows that they continue to bash?
>paid
man, they have weird rules about which youtubers to pay.
nice jaw
by the way, if they were really offering youtubers money to give positive reviews, at least one of them would have come forward about it.
Critical Drinker talks about every show that gets released because he's a content farmer. That's not notable.
His brand is that he is negative about modern tv and movies, especially Netflix and Disney. It absolutely is notable when even he is positive and praises a modern Netflix live action adaptation.
HIs brand is telling people like (You) want they want to hear.
Exactly. And if you use your brain a bit, you'd realize that you just admitted that One Piece is very popular with audiences and perceived as a good show. Because otherwise people would want him to be negative and talk shit about the show, like he does with 99% of the other content he covers.
It's popular with the Critical Drinker's audience, yes.
I never said he's only negative, but his content is very much skewed toward negative coverage. His bread and butter is trashing modern shows, especially Netflix and Disney+ for woke shit and low quality writing.
Do you actually watch fucking youtubers?
>His bread and butter is trashing modern shows, especially Netflix and Disney+ for woke shit and low quality writing.
is he wrong?
i checked out LAOP based on Chato's "executive greenlight". ended up binging the whole season in one sitting. it was literally a joy for me to watch. it's not perfect, but the epic moments are exciting, the Zoro/Mihawk showdown being my favorite. You get to know and understand the characters in a very short time. LAOP was just fun. Remember when our classic IPs used to be fun?
>398 videos on his channel
>26 videos are positive recommendations
Thanks for proving my point, dumbass.
>the people who make a career being negative
this is just completely untrue. all of them talk about shit they like all the time.
>but you can't say that they are reluctant to cancel an underperforming show after 1 season.
Yes. I can. At lot of the time they have contracts where they HAVE to do two seasons.
Ok and this was not the case with One Piece. So what is your fucking point?
Name an example of a Netflix original that was contractually obligated to have a minimum of 2 seasons. You are literally making this shit up or you are confusing it with other Streaming services like Amazon who have a very different business model and approach to greenlighting their shows.
See
Can't you just admit that it was successful? One Piece is the most popular show on IMDb right now. The actors are also the most popular people in the industry right now with Emily Rudd being #1.
>The actors are also the most popular people in the industry right now
Literal delusions.
take your meds
Draw the line yourself extrapolating from the existing data. It's doing about as well as one would expect from its initial entry
>Netflix does not release their view results and metrics,

My mom watched episode 1 and liked it, that's proof enough for me
Sure it didn’t buddy. Let’s go play with blocks and let the other anons talk ok?
Retard
Let's count the complete flops of Western live action adaptations:
2008 - Speed Racer
2009 - Dragon Ball Evolution
2013 - Oldboy
2017 - Ghost in the Shell
2017 - Death Note
2021 - Cowboy Bebop
2023 - Knights of the Zodiac
Decent adaptations:
2014 - Edge of Tomorrow
>based on a light novel that in 2014 was adapted into a manga, graphic novel and film
2019 - Alita: Battle Angel
>recovered financially in physical media and streaming, it took 4 years to confirm the sequel
Most of those were garbage that’s why the flopped
>decent adaptations
>alita
Fuck off with your shitty b8.
>decent adaptations
>alita
>Fuck off with your shitty b8.

Alright.
They copied many scenes direct from the manga. That's literally all the other ones had to do.
>success
It's september 18th, where's the rest of the chart?
This is not real or accurate lol. I keep seeing this posted and it’s just not real. Netflix does not release their view results and metrics, that’s just not something they do. We don’t know if it’s as successful as Netflix is saying but this graph is just a product of some weird homosexual blitzed on cope.
Ohhh, really?
https://www.netflix.com/tudum/top10/tv
Not only do they share their metrics, that graph also shows the show doing extremely well. The only show above it is Wednesday, Netflix's biggest hit since Stranger Things.
You are doubly retarded, and so is everyone trying to use the graph as an argument against One Piece doing well.
It's honestly sad just how much tranimetroons seek Cinemaphile's validation. No, tranime is not Cinemaphile nor will it ever be. Stick to your drawn porn for children and the underdeveloped.
Your meds. Take them.
This isn’t a tranime thread you whacky boy. Also this is you.

dayumn, she could play AOC in the upcoming porn parody together with Boebert
Can someone explain why there’s always a handful of dudes in these threads saying the show failed? It was a pretty cool show and it seems like it did pretty good.
Because op won't shut the fuck up about what a huge success it was? (It wasn't)
Cope
It was though, and you are retarded.
You can look up how well it’s still doing you know that right? You don’t like it. That doesn’t mean everyone else didn’t.
Because normies don't know about the real good shit and need a TV series to popularize them. Manga still superior to anything.
>decent casting (zoro's the only actor in the main cast who is bad imo)
>not ashamed of the source material's silliness (no scenes where some character sarcastically lampshades Arlong being a shark or snail phones or whatever)
>consulted with the author
>good sets/costume design
>mostly followed the story without adding or removing too much
The thumbnail looks like four people have their feet placed against a watermelon that's sitting on a stump, trying to crush jt between them
Why do all One Piece spam threads use the exact same fucking image
Luffy was never an underdog in terms of power. The first time he starts to sweat against a foe is Arlong, who was almost as powerful as Jimbei, a warlord of a sea. The first foe he loses against is Crocodile, who we see later duking it out with admirals. His fruit is definetely one of the stronger fruits, not OP but good and perfect for his fighting style.
I mean it was already good before the Nika retcon.
>almost as powerful as Jimbei
Kek. No.
Yeah, warlord powerscaling is all over the place. He's probably stronger than Boa Hancock but Doflamingo and Mihawk? No.
Wasn't Arlong like Jimbei's second in command?
Nah the genie looking merman was his first mate.
>live-action netflix adaptation of an anime
it's trash.
no, I haven't watched it.
yes, I still know it's trash.
No, it's good
It's very sincere and I think everyone's sick to death of post-post-irony
The first 4 episodes are pretty slow. Didn't like the Kuro bit. The second half is a lot better because there is finally a credible threat and character growth.
Did anybody else fall in love with her
Already was bro
I was banned from Cinemaphile just for calling her pretty.
I'm nordic and she isn't that special by our standards. Looks like she has some mongolian admixture, so it isn't weird that Oda picked her.
>I'm nordic
As-salam alaykum
Neah. She's a solid 8/10. Koby was cuter
>Koby was cuter
Koby was way cuter and more loyal.
Didn't attack the fans and potential fans.
It succeeded because the author is heavily involved, as evident by the increasing amount of weekly breaks the manga has.
Fucking hell.
Literally all they had to do is make the actors put on wigs that look pretty close to the cartoon and the dopesmoking microbrains would all be satisfied.

i think they'll just rush through each arc in 1-2 episodes and will take 3-4 episodes for arab asta. little garden might get the snip tho, i haven't watched the anime for more than a decade but iirc there was nothing important happening there anyways apart from baroque homosexuals getting creamed and giants showing up for the first time in the story
Sopa D Macaco
Because the anime and manga are both crap. The live action is actually good.
I still refuse to watch your naggerified goyslop.
Taste has been completely thrown out the window at this point. If you unironically watch a Netflix anime adaptation, you simply don't belong here.
Luffy was the most accurate to his manga counterpart in the whole show.
>I started reading the manga after watching this
Same. Didn't even finish the show actually. I thought it was very fun, but also many aspects of it were garbage, like the acting, so I just jumped into the manga. It's great indeed. I don't plan keep watching the show, but I really hope they don't blackwash my waifu Vivi.
because hollywood israelitenime sloppers are allowed to breath
I want them to do a movie. Maybe water 7. It could be a limited theater release which then directly goes to Netflix after one or two weeks but it might be fun.
>Why did it succeed?
Cute boys.
There wasn’t a single show that caused this level of seething on tv
nobody expected it to be actually good and now some eternal contrarians have trouble admitting they liked it as well and instead chose to seethe forever
It's been surreal watching One Piece terminology spread across the normiesphere.
How do you think they're going to do Chopper and Brook? I have a feeling Brook is going to be a person with Baron Samedi face makeup on instead of a kino CGI skelly.
Brook would be S5 at the earliest, no point discussing it, Chopper will stay human form most of the time
because normalfags are mindless shills for whatever people say is "the good anime"
>succeed
keep dreaming brownie
same way barbie, lego and mario did. its a giant franchise. almost all disney wars movies made bank, and they sucked ass. how's that a question, pablo? i guess its just another disguised shill attempt
