That's because you're a massive assblasted homosexual. As comical as the spaghetti westerns were, the original American westerns from the 30s to 50s were equally low brow schlock with high production budgets. Most of the John Wayne westerns and most of those studio westerns were fake made up myths not based in historical truth. As good of an artist as John Ford was, for example, he had a fascination with the old west similar to how weebs have a fascination with superhero comic books. His knowledge on the old west was all recycled myths retold 1000 times until any inkling of truth disappeared from them. Howard hawks made the superior western red river and John fords only good westerns are the cavalry trilogy and the man who shot liberty valance ( in which he finally begins to understand the whole truth behind the myths of the old west).

Internet people thinking the violence of history is a fairy tale always amuses me. Basketball Americans still light up their uncles and cousins like it’s paint ball but you don’t think any of drunk morons who couldn’t read and were high off cocaine snake oil got in showdowns or long drawn out shootouts on roofs? Modern movies are less realistic they often fight at actual range in many westerns. Idk I don’t think you’ve ever been in a shoot out have you? I have. People don’t act like they’re tactical in a shootout they act just like they act in westerns, they say oh god write my mamma when they get hit, because many of those actors were real men who fought in real wars and you are a mentally ill man baby calling others names. Those old westerns aren’t a cheesy depiction of violence. They are an uncanny representation of how casual or intimate violence actually can be and the many ways men who fight together live with themselves when it stops

Spaghetti westerns is a noob trap. You can't even name 10 great spaghetti westerns besides those 4 Leone flicks of which only 2 are good, on okay Corbucci flick and maybe few other trash flicks like Sabata - all made in a very short stretch of time between 60s and 70s. And already compare them to the vast, nuanced genre that developed over decades.

Western before Leone was literally Marvel-tier goyslop.

The only relevant US western is The Wild Bunch.
The rest are boring showy affairs with illustrative funny music and histrionic nonsense.
People for instance say The Searchers is a great western, but 99% of the running time it's some zany cartoonish daytime tv nonsense and the few iconic shots that always get posted are not enough to carry it.

I watched the first two years ago and I recall them being surprisingly different from a tonal perspective.
The first one was quite serious, with the main character barely talking and characters constantly killing each other even when it didn't seem necessary.
The second one was notably more lighthearted, with characters resolving issues with quips and banter even when the film was seemingly building up for a shootout.
I might be confusing it with another set of films but whatever

Westerns were the comic book films of the 1950s. They were everywhere: tv, music, cartoons, toys, games and films. By the 1960s, US studios wouldn't touch them so they had to go overseas.

      >b-but there were just as many westerns flooding the market in the 60s, they were basically the capeshit of their era, that means there's nothing wrong with capeshit!

      NO!
I've heard this comparison regurgitated so many times before from the coping capeshitter butthurt at the based boomers shitting on his precious capeshit and trying to deflect, it is so fricking moronic and only further expose the capeshitter as an idiot unable to use his brain and consider his arguments for five minutes before he shares his 'opinions'.
Westerns are rooted in historical reality, capeshit is fantasy for children.
Westerns deal with timeless themes like violence inherent to human nature, the building of civilization and its moral imperatives, man vs nature, myth vs reality, greed vs honor, conquering the wild, the frontier, etc. capeshit deals with aliens shooting laser beams in the sky and running after magical diamonds, shit that doesnt mean anything about the human condition
Western depict stoic characters who struggle physically to go from point a to point b, who develop themselves and accomplish actions through their own will and efforts, capeshit depicts quipping characters who inherit magical powers and are just empty vehicles for mindless set pieces
Westerns are shot in natural locations and feature human beings with unique faces and physical character, capeshit are soulless green screen CGI fests and only ever star bland roided up calvin klein models who cant even act
Westerns have been a part of film history since its birth with most of its directors having been canonized as the most influential visual storytellers, capeshit is a disposable fad with most its directors being hacks literally coming from TV sitcoms

      >but-but my green screen toys commercials are equivalent to folk legends and greek mythology!!

      NO!

I can only speak for sergio leone films as I haven't seen other spaggys, but it felt like most westerns to come out of the 40's and 50's were judt the same exact premise with little deviation. Just a good guy cowboy fighting off some outlaws or something.
What I like about the few spaggys I've seen is how MCs can be morally grey, and depicting how gritty and harash the actual wild west was.

People who use terms like ''spaghetti western'' and try to show off by talking about Italy making westerns need to be killed. You're not smart, you're not interesting. No one gives a single frick where some movie was made. Pointing out that some movies in general came from some country doesn't make you look smart and educated.
If I am talking about westerns one of the things I give the least shit about is whether or not they were made in Italy and whether or not you can come up with some ''''''''''''''cute''''''''''''''''' name to say that they're made in Italy

To me it's a collective effort. Death Rides a Horse, The Big Gundown, The Grand Duel of course wouldn't be as great without Lee Van Cleef and Morricone's music. But that's like saying X wouldn't be as great without Y and Z. There's some Spaghetti westerns I like as much as those that have neither Morricone's music or an American actor. A Pistol for Ringo, Banditos, My Name is Pecos, and the two Trinity movies are examples.

Like hell they were. American westerns during their heyday were based much more on highly romanticized and sensationalized dime novels than on any actual historical accounts about life in the old West. If anything it was the italians who walked back on some of the artifice by depicting violence and lawlessness more candidly. Even though they were obviously still a long way from realistic.
