Bad focus, manchild script and scatterbrain characterization.

Lack of artistic ecosystem to support a whole series, established studios will make a hackjob of it, while individual established artists tend to avoid the traditions that lead to its conceptualization as it’s easier to draw industry style content.

Your mentality shows you just have an issue with independent artists, rather than criticizing, you’re simply whining about not being catered to.

My mentality? I gave clear critisisms which apply to both this show and Monkey wrench,

Exactly, you’re not a creative person, which would be fine by itself, but you’re demanding creative people to cater their creativity to you and people like you

No, I only ask them for to set their ideas in in a single place instead of running from idea to idea swamping their vision in a scatterbrain pointless pilot.

I mean their best character design was quite litterally fan service with no plot or point of being there.

What does that have to do with “critique” that is merely making demands of an artist, while telling some fairy story that it’s guaranteed profits, which is an obvious scam.

Because it had no actual appeal.

“Appeal” means nothing to you people. The designs are good. More like “ you’re not trying to appeal to me.” All focus on self-centeredness.

Now you’re acting like you’re talking to a teenager who can’t keep track of his own ideas. I’m saying that you shouldn’t go around making demands for what artists should make. Keep it up, I’ll send more messages to inboxes.

                >artwork is a form of communication!
I’ve heard that industry line, it’s a cope for how they fail at being creative individuals with their own distinct bodies of work.

This. The pilot was apparently a "vertical slice" of the different kind of tones they wanted to do in DIFFERENT episodes of a full series, but all at once so it's disjointed and unsatisfying.

same reason most out-of-studio independent cartoons always fail. As shitty and awful as studio cartoons usually are with executive meddling, apparently independent cartoonist creators cannot for the life of them decide who the fricking audience is for their absurd, rambling, inappropriate trash is.
Lot of these cartoons look good, sound good, and tons of effort put into it (like long gone gultch) but they refuse to cater to any conceivable audience other than perhaps themselves (which is worse than simply picking a demographic because now the cartoon is saturated in weird inside jokes and gross out humor or sex stuff that seems incongruous with everything else).
I would say Hazbin 'works' in a limited sense because they did choose at least one niche, hot topic / Johnen Vasquez growing old and fat once goth or emo audience to go for.

Here comes the control freak man children demanding to be served like a baby at a high chair instead of simply appreciating the artistic expression of others

You are used to corporate slop and should stick with it if you’re going to keep being this way. Actual individual artistry is not formulated for an audience. What people are coming for to indies is something that isn’t corporate formula. And it might not be as popular as FNAF, but when did indie artists ever fricking say they all want a giant franchise?

Animation is expensive. Ironically, AI might help with inbetweening and voicework as it develops and bring down production costs substantially (assuming open competitive open source models) but you basically *have* to consider audience reach and scope when doing indie animation if you want a serialized animated show.
That or be a nepo baby/bitcoin billionaire. There's just no money in making personally relevant works. Even Tolkien was not immune to the profit motive.

Not a very good midwit take.

Long Gone Gulch is a clear-cut fantasy adventure series, it has a much clearer niche than a show like (to pick a random example) OK K.O. which was a total mishmash of concepts. And hell, most adult swim cartoons are weirdass concepts that don't have a clear audience on paper, but people watch them because they're fun & funny.

Hazbin became a series because the creator is a nepo baby who obviously had a shitton of industry connections despite a lack of industry experience.

Everyone's known for decades that a show's success usually isn't about what you know, it's about who you know. That's one of the oldest rules of the entertainment industry. Acting like the audience demographic is the 1 key ingredient is just out-of-touch.

no, she had a stupid amount of money to throw around so she started "creating" industry communications by paying shittons of money.

Then she turned out to be exactly the same ciclejerking b***h that she was back in the 2000s DA days so they all turned tail, and WB ended up ditching her from her own show

You mean A. Kids B. Adults

There's almost no room in the middle. America has this mindset of animation is for children. What's worse is the idea of adult animation being the extreme opposite like Helluva Boss or big mouth in needing to say curse, have sex, or blood.

Jesus it's like if you make a cartoon that isn't for kids but at the same time isn't trying to be edgy nobody knows what to do with it.

Anyone who gives any answer besides covid fricking up their budget is talking shit.

They've gone on record multiple times now explaining they did actually get picked up and were in the early stages of producing a show when covid came and went and fricked up their whole production, and unfortunately with these things if you dont make it when theres momentum and before the people who are interested in producing it get shifted out of the company, you're not likely to get picked up unless you wait a long while.

Should have made a webcomic to compliment the animation or at the very least take advantage of the shorts feature on YouTube make either short animations or animatics. seriously some people have an all or nothing attitude to animation. don't be a perfectionist until you can build a base that can afford it
