I liked it. Alt Universe versions of villains was entertaining even though Peter never really commented on it.
I think the only one who got a line that wasn't "you must be this world's version" was Electro >Electro? >y-you know me? >kinda. though the one I know is better in the looks department.
They also had the symbiotes but they just seemed to be goons and didn't appear for 9 out of the 12 episodes. but the good thing about it being plot driven and not episodic is that eddie or cletus could appear at any moment.
Unfortunately they tried to do Batman Beyond with Spider-Man and didn't stick the landing. But I still remember being excited when I saw the ads on Disney XD as a kid.
What was the symbiotes' deal? Their looks and characterizations were so different from what I knew. And I think they were loyally carrying out the agenda of some other dude?
yea that's kind of what i meant by them feeling like goons. It was as if eddie and cletus weren't even in the show. Like it was just the symbiotes.
Their deal was they wanted to take over the alternate earth in the name of the mother symbiote but they had to be enforcers for the beast knights
Same reason the Avengers cartoon from the same time failed. Kids didn't even know it existed because they were all watching Pokémon instead. Both shows made enough changes to the source material to turn off older comic fans who weren't the target audience anyway, but scheduling these cartoons against Pokémon at it's peak popularity meant the average kid paid no attention to them.
Came out when Pokemon was getting huge in the US and aired at the same time on the competing channel so they shelved it for a while despite doing better than most in that time slot, they just wanted their 'own' Pokemon.
It better be added to the new game later on since they have suits with capes now.
We went from NYC, a setting that's grounded and has a plethora or relevant stories and characters to pull from to a completely different world/dimension with weird fricked up furry mutant people who I had zero connection to and therefore couldn't even begin to give a frick about.
I feel like I never knew when it was on and I didn't watch Pokemon so that wasn't it. I also think the art style wasn't as appealing as StAS which it was living in the shadow of.
Honestly if they had given it a better timeslot and not put him on a different earth it would've worked.
You gotta think like an executive, the pokemans are huge right now we gotta have a pokeman instead now. Some of that was the thinking by the network at the time roughly said from some of the staff on the show from around the time. Then they didn't start airing the show again until the Spidey movie was starting to get promoted in 2001 riding off of that and by then they didn't feel like ordering anymore of it 2 years later
Yeah TNAS being on MTV was pretty much it. Despite doing pretty well how many cartoons airing on MTV ever lasted more than one season besides Beavis & Butthead and Daria? They wanted Spidey because the first movie was huge and it was somewhat tooled to their type of desired audience but they decided they didn't want to do animation anymore and they kinda just pumped episodes out and didn't seem too committed to it. The schedule for reruns was so damn random at the time
It is really good if you give it a chance. It's designed as a sequel to the first Raimi Spider-man film, and is pretty solid over-all. The cast is pretty cool too with Neil Patrick Harris doing a great job as Peter/Spidey, Michael Clark Duncan coming back as Kingpin, and Rob Zombie voicing The Lizard.
The only thing that kinda sucks (and this is a nitpick) is the low-res textures on stuff like buildings, so whenever the camera gets close to brick textures you can see the pixels.
Dr. Moron's planet was a stupid idea
>Let's make a Spider-man cartoon
>But not have it be a Spider-man cartoon
It's not hard to figure out.
It's not a bad idea so much as it's just they chose the wrong hero. Toss in say Adam Warlock and things might click better.

That's not what happened at all. They were doing their own thing.

Bad luck. Shit going against it.
>Let's make a Spider-Man cartoon but with barely any of Peter's supporting cast there
>And also he's on furry Earth
How did the show fail?

it was cool and experimental but was really just living in the shadow of better shows.

The real mystery is why didn't this do better?
It was on mtv. That's it , the sole reason
Honestly I figured as much. I was outright shocked the first time I stumbled across it.

>made by mainframe
is this any good? I love Beast Wars and ReBoot

face design gives me aeon flux vibes
>we want to make a spider-man 2099 show but we won't
Weird costume.
It wasn’t that good and squandered its ideas.
That being said, this outfit needs to be in Spider-Man 2.
