T2 was meant to have a definitive, hopeful end, so everything after that is already treading on that.

Dark Fate could have been really good, as the alternate rogue AI is the only thing that doesn't invalidate the T2 ending, but it dropped too many balls. Leaned too hard into girl power, pacing wasn't as comfy, and Grace should have just been a terminator programmed with an imprint of someone's personality to think they're human, not a stupid super soldier that added nothing to the plot.

I think time travel is just extremely hard to pull off in a way that makes sense, especially in a franchise. Really, how many robots skynet is going to send back in time? How many times is weyland-yutani going to try and weaponize the xenomorph?

They should have had a movie set in the Old West or something to kill John's great grandparents. Could have been a return to the thriller archetype in T1 because the Terminator is basically unkillable back then without dynamite.

Based. They have to beat him by jumping a train off a bridge with dynamite. The resistance is able to send back a car with the dynamite which leads to a battle scene with indians and the the protagonist to start. Then he has to stand up to his bullies great grandfather

Zemeckis would probably allow this if it didn't lean too much on his stuff- You two should write the pitch and ask his agent.

It's idea for really 1 movie. T2 was already pushing it. There was no reason to try to turn it into a franchise.

Cameron had a lot of ideas for other terminator films that never came to be because Linda Hamilton took the rights when she divorced him. And then by the time he came back to the franchise the damage had already been done.

nothing will ever top Robert Patrick as the T-1000. Literally every villain from each new film is just laughable by comparison

The Terminator would've been as a horror series.
The first one had a limited budget which meant they had to use suspense more than practical effects and it was completely well done

The first script could've been. But dubs guy dubs'd it up, so now it's a couple cool scenes in another bad Terminator.

    >2 had a satisfying ending
    >nobody grasped the themes of the series (read the original 3 script before the studio stepped in if you want a prime example)
    >the few people that wanted to do more than rehash 2 but worse had pants on head moronic ideas
    >Arnold being a requirement became a colossal Albatross that bloated the budget for no return

How many times can you repeat the same formula before it goes stale? T3 already jumped the shark by forcing the machine uprising like some kind of inevitable biblical event that could only be postponed at best. After that, the fifth and sixth movie felt like fanfics that were more of the same. There was nothing memorable about them. No cultural impact or anything, while T1 and 2 are still fondly remembered and quoted.
And the one time they broke the formula and tried to make a movie about only interesting thing left to tell, the war with a grown up John Connor, they completely botched it.
    That franchise is dead.

I'll never forget how disappointed my friends were after we all went to see T3 in the theater after having a watch party for T and T2.

I tried to tell them it would be terrible and they didn't want to listen. The ride back after the movie was completely silent.

This is the third best Terminator movie
I'm not even joking it's amazing to watch it and go "holy frick it's just a beat for beat remake of Terminator with EVIL WIZARD copypasted over EVIL ROBOT every time in the script"
And it's an incredibly enjoyable film in its own right

Terminator was just a ripoff of a Harlan Ellison story, it was never good because it never had soul

The only reason he got paid to frick off was because they didn't have the funds to go through court at the time.
Anyone who sincerely believes it was a ripoff is moronic. Even Harlan didn't, he was just an opportunistic c**t.

Better than all the shitty terminator slop movies after 2. It had soul and the creators actually cared about making it match the movies and making a plausible future war for fans. Don't care about far cry 3 or why you gays always whine about it.

The concept was fricking milked; even 2 was stretching it, as good as it was. There's only so many times you do that plot without descending into total moronic slop territory.

Terminator is just like Robocop. Self contained movies that didn’t need sequels. All the sequels have just been rehashes of the original. T2 just a bigger budget version of T1. Robocop 2 is weaker rehash of Robocop.

    Several reasons:

    >First two were the product of maybe the most technically skilled director of his generation working on his own creation. Even if they hired talented people they were never going to match Camron's skill or enthusiasm
    >between T1 (causal loop where the war happens) and T2 (broken loop where the war is prevented) they'd already covered the only 2 way the thing could really end without resorting to branching timeline perpetual reset frickery. Every movie after 2 was either redundant or in overt conflict with the established plot and were quintessential "more stuff happens just so we can make more sequels" movies
    >they actually did the right thing by making a definitive decision, having the judgement day happen and then getting on with the human-AI war which should have opened up a whole new avenue of interesting plots, settings and characters. And then after one film actually set in the future they backtracked and just started rehashing the old "Terminator sent back in time" plotline which was already a tired concept by the 3rd film. Huge, huge wasted opportunity to move forward instead of going in circles
    >desperately clung to Arnold for star power when his inclusion no longer made any actual sense and required ridiculous plot contrivances and bad de-aging CGI
    >went full wokeshit stronk female by the end and unceremoniously killed John Connor meaning the entire fricking series had now become pointless and then expected people to follow the new timeline with the random girl nobody gave a frick about and 300 year old Linda Hamilton. Actively scared off the four or five people who still gave a shit

In Terminator Salvation the plot is “many believe that John connor in not humanity’s saviour that he’s actually a false prophet but no, terminator salvation says only he can save the world . Fast forward to dark fate John Connor is murdered but that’s ok because he isn’t really that important he’s not the saviour this stronk woman is

The best part of Terminator Salvation was the flashback to the future
When a group of post apocalyptic thugs were going to rape and murder a little girl for a candy bar before some 4'6" goblina mexican (nu-johnConnor) pops up
        >ayyyy papi, yew down wanna keil other humans, yew wanna keil machines
and the man who was about to fillet a little girl for a snickers went
        >Yeah I guess so

Changing John Connors ruined part 3 jumping back and forth in time ruined it there should be only one Sarah connor actress only one Kyle Reese actor only one John connor actor only one Katherine Brewster actress etc etc and only one timeline which is the present there can be flashbacks of the future like in the first two movies but rebooting it like genisys did is wrong. I haven’t finished watching Terminator dark fate yet but Terminators I liked are the original, T2 judgement day, the Sarah connor chronicles and most of rise of the machines and most of Terminator salvation I didn’t like genisys and I’m not enjoying dark fate

    >"Take off your clothes."
    >"Patience, honey. Move, b***h! Wait your turn!"
    ">Your clothes..."
    >"Talk to the hand!"

Shit became a parody of itself. It went from robot Michael Myres, to an action movie, to a shitty comedy. Nothing about it was cool anymore and it increasingly became less cool as time went on. Dusty old actors and actresses dragged out of their wheelchairs, diversity hires, The Message, everything. Shit is shit
