Because it's easy to make some story about some guy fighting against the impossible. Pitch one of those stories and watch the cash flow. It's so easy in fact I'll make my own right now >my totally original character is Buck Starcannon a failed genetic experiment with superpowers who gets his strength from adrenaline >His goal is to find the Ugner-Xarin, an artifact which will bring his dead wife back to life >His archenemies is Qellob a Veneran with magnetic powers from an aristocratic family that grows space wine grapes >on the journey he is accompanied by Gruff Gargaxxon an ex-prison guard for the Jupiter prison >his other friend is Krill Egg a half human frog hybrid who likes sushi and boxing >the show will have 300 episodes and only like 30 or so plot heavy ones >most of the episodes will consist of Buck Starcannon remembering his painful past while fighting armies of robots and mercenaries
Get with the times old man >my totally original character is Hiro Selfinsert, once an ordinary Japanese kid, but after he died he was reincarnated as the strongest, most badass hero in the totally original world of RPG-Fantasyland >His goal is to conquer the entire world, which will be extremely easy because he can solo entire armies >His archenemies are extremely OP wizards and kings, but nowhere near as strong as him >on the journey he is accompanied by Bigbreasts Uguu, a magical elf who needs his semen to survive >his other friend is Flatchest Pedobait, a half human dog hybrid girl who was sold as a slave to him and absolutely loves him >the show will have 26 episodes, all of which will go into extremely autistic detail of the magic system within the world >most of the episodes will consist of Hiro Selfinsert lifting a finger and destroying his enemies' lives

It's crazy because Trigun is huge, Ippo is pretty big, but Gungrave is mostly forgotten. They're really the big 3 series of Madhouse at that time. Think they all have the same audio guy too.

The market for anime has simultaneously exploded and also fragmented. Everything is made to sell merchandise to a certain demographic, and like 50 fricking shows get made per season. It doesn't need to say anything or be edgy anymore; people want escapism, anime girl figures, and pictures of anime boys kissing each other.

Top:Akira,Rojin Z,Neo Tokyo
Middle:Wings of Honneamise,Angel Egg, Ghost in The Shell
Bottom:Castle in The Sky,Nausicaa,My Neighbor Totoro
Still around, just that the animation is more anime-ish looking. Which I want them to fricking go back to, 80s/90s anime animation was so frickkkkkking clean. I could jizz to a mashup of patlabor/gits/akira clips all fricking day
Anime is a dead medium which is frustrating because we have seen the more artistic side of the medium. Jin Roh, GITS, Angel's Egg are all good examples. The problem is that the community would rather seek out more childish, banal stories rather than something thought provoking.
Anime is the only medium that could have cute girls and silly shit like superpowers and still be thought provoking.
Could, because I don't think it will ever reach that peak.
Moeshit became popular and the rest is history. There was no incentive in striving for something greater anymore.
why wont you frick off to Cinemaphile
You can thank this tard for that.
Sorry, forgot the pic.
DBZ is kino tho
too soon

Good lists but damn, no Psycho Pass?

>No berserk 1997
>No Monster
>No Hunter Hunter 2011
Good list otherwise though
Damn son no Ippo or Gungrave? Turn of the century Madhouse was really firing on all cylinders
Gungrave is so underrated. Blew my mind to find out it's based on the PS2 game and not vice versa
It's crazy because Trigun is huge, Ippo is pretty big, but Gungrave is mostly forgotten. They're really the big 3 series of Madhouse at that time. Think they all have the same audio guy too.
Nope.

What's top middle and top right?

It doesn't need to say anything or be edgy anymore; people want escapism, anime girl figures, and pictures of anime boys kissing each other.
I just watched PHOENIX: EDEN17 from 2023. It is very creative with beautiful ghibli-esque shots.
>that character design
frick off
it's hard

What's the source for that pic? Looks cool
troony list
Explain.
show bobs
Matt Walsh looks like a redditor
I'm sorry OP the only good explanation I have is written in Japanese by an ex Ghibli guy:
https://note.com/masuyama56/n/n8dcf9905d234
It's about how directors have less and less sayso over their own productions these days.
Because you, the audience, stopped paying for it.
What's middle top row?
Busty Nurse Airy-chan
i also love pretty anime girls
i choose not to buy consumerist crap
What's top middle?
Rojin Z
What's that one on the top right?
Neo Tokyo
when did they start?
I bet OP can't name every single anime in his own pic.
No, but I can
Top:Akira,Rojin Z,Neo Tokyo
Middle:Wings of Honneamise,Angel Egg, Ghost in The Shell
Bottom:Castle in The Sky,Nausicaa,My Neighbor Totoro
I love edgy magical girls so much it's unreal.
Still around, just that the animation is more anime-ish looking. Which I want them to fricking go back to, 80s/90s anime animation was so frickkkkkking clean. I could jizz to a mashup of patlabor/gits/akira clips all fricking day

Ghibli is not anime. Anime is for jannies. Ghibli is for fine art appreciators
ghibli is entry-level normalgay shit
Can I get a list of animes used in OP's pic? I recognize GiTS and Totoro
