Having to abandon your mom and be a celibate monk is not very attractive at all. Why would anyone want to be a jedi ?

It was Anakin's chance out, to not be a slave the rest of his life, or die in a pod racer for someone else's gain.

They had it pretty good as slaves, nice cozy little house, never any work to do, playing around with scrap and building your own robots, and riding pod racers.
        Watto was a nice guy.

Could only do that as a Jedi Knight. As a Padawan, he's beholden to whatever whims of his Master.

It wasn't even on him to go back and save her. He had a planetary Queen and a whole race of amphibian people who owed their lives and freedom to him. Either Padme or the Gungans could have gone back and rescued Shmi in an afternoon and given her a job and place to stay back on Naboo.

    was it padme?
    did she say something like
    "how about your parents?"
    and he was like
"yeah, come to think about it, mom? forgot about my mom, I should go get her back"

after she got kidnapped, every time she was beaten and raped by sandpeople the force gave him intricate, highly detailed dreams of her pleasuring sandperson wiener and Anakin experienced the dream from her perspective.

    1. Jedi don't allow attachments
    2. wasn't having visions about his mother's impending doom until that time
Presumably he would have gone back at least to visit if not to free her, visions or no, once he became a knight and had a degree of autonomy.

      >1. Jedi don't allow attachments
That doesn't mean they had to keep his mom as slave. Just free her and let her stay on a cozy planet.
      >2. wasn't having visions about his mother's impending doom until that time
He needs to want his mother being save and free?

It's literally the answer, dude. He's not allowed to go see his mother because attachments are forbidden. It's simple as that.

            Why are they forbidden?
Luke had people he cared about and loved. Turned out a lot better than "no mom for you" Anakain.

This was established in ESB anyway, not the prequels.

Jedi hypocrisy has been a constant since the days of Rajivari, the first Jedi heretic, who suggested that study in something other than Ashla would be more beneficial than dogmatic focus into one discipline only.

It's not the answer, stupid frick. Read the thread. Tons of people owed Anakin their lives and they could have saved Shmi at any point to repay him. Not forbidden in the slightest. It's simple as that.

What part of "Anakin doesn't need to do it himself and no one is forbidden from rescuing Shmi to pay him back" don't you get? It's a binary thing, not Anakin needs to do it himself and for some reason Jedi will be angry if some other person rescued his mother and gave her a comfy place to stay. Stop being a moron.

That's not what OP is asking though or what this discussion had been about.

        >That doesn't mean they had to keep his mom as slave. Just free her and let her stay on a cozy planet.
What part of "no attachments" don't you get? It's a binary thing, not "no attachments but just to set your mind at ease we hooked your attachment up with a nice house in a good area".
        >He needs to want his mother being save and free?
I'd say that visions of her impending doom is going to put more pressure on his choice between his attachments and the Jedi way, yes.

        >Jedi don't allow attachments
Isn't it weird they always keep saying this same stupid shit? Like it's the most idiotic answer possible and doesn't address the issue whatsoever, yet every single thread on this topic will inevitably have multiple people say this exact same stupidity as if it's smart

see above (and the other reply to you is correct as well)

        >wasn't having visions about his mother's impending doom until that time
He did, but Obi-Wan told him not to worry about it.

Sort of true, but before the movie he didn't know why he was having dreams about his mother. They only get more clear during the movie itself.

They had it pretty good as slaves, nice cozy little house, never any work to do, playing around with scrap and building your own robots, and riding pod racers.
        Watto was a nice guy.

He was a somewhat okay slave owner. But the movie shows us that
        1. they'd been sold around before and could be again
        2. they are still slaves (as in, not free)
        3. they have bombs inside of them
