Ed shouldn't have been in the live action remake, he's not integral to the story and those types of characters do not work well outside of cartoons. In real life Ed is cringy and annoying, in 2D he's charming and eccentric. I know people usually get mad about remakes not sticking to the source material, but if you're changing the medium that the story is told in then it makes sense to alter the story somewhat to better fit the medium, if you aren't going to do that then why even bother remaking it in the first place? We can just watch the original.

Completely re-wrote the plot of the series so that Spike's love interest is the bad guy actually and Vicious is just her patsy, which effectively destroys the story entirely. Another example of zero credit no-name hack writers, who can't cut it as authors, thinking they can do a better job than the people who made the property popular to begin with.

In the movie, they literally have multiple people stand in front of him, shoot at him with machine guns, and some how they all miss. Also spike flips a coin or chip up and spin kicks it into someone's forehead. This is near impossible and would result in getting filled with bullets from machine guns. Nothing like that was in the anime
One of the things that made the anime great was how it felt realistic. The anime is literally more realistic than the live action. The fighting and environment all feel more gritty and grounded than the live action, and the fighting in the anime is somehow better, cooler, and feels more realistic.

Hollywood productions rarely budget the time necessary to have the costume dept perfect the outfits, as well casting is never selective enough for frame and physique to get a really good match.

Cosplayers care more, have infinite time to make their costumes, and can make them fragile and impractical since they only need to last through a photoshoot or a day of carefully walking around at a convention and can be adjusted to perfection before every shot, while movie/TV costumes need to survive being worn 8+ hours a day for weeks of filming, they have to look OK in all kinds of poses, sometimes handle stunts, be washed multiple times, etc.
What was really weird about CB was that Spike and Jet's costumes looked TOO much like cosplay, cartoony and not believable enough in the world, but then Faye's costume was totally changed (largely for obvious modern Hollywood reasons) and looks much more like something a real person might wear.

I wanted to hate it, but from the first scene on I really liked it. The main difference is that it plays up the camp and situational humor where the original (particularly the English dub) was more straightfaced and melancholy. I realize now that this is itself quite formulaic, in the mode of One Piece, but I really liked the art direction, and that visual appeal kept me engaged. That is despite some hammy writing and acting, which to be fair is a hallmark of the anime.
