True, "she" (it) is way worse. It doesn't think she's a different gender, it thinks it's no gender at all. It has basically decided that it is a special snowflake with no personality at all. It is basically an object, and hence it should be treated as such.
I haven't dropped it yet but I'm not watching it on primer anymore. Just whenever I got free time and I'm bored. The show is not super bad imo...well, I think it's mid at best, but i'm just not into the type of fantasy story it's telling, it's too soap-operay for my tastes. I would prefer a more sword&magic nerdy type of fantasy affair rather want this show is going for.
But even when I take the show for what it is, I don't think it's doing a good job at the type of story it wants to be. Like if you want your audience to get engrossed in a story about a bunch of different political actors trying to out maneuver, backstab, or kill one another for the throne, than you have to have characters that are either interesting, likable, smart, or empathic enough that said audience can have a personal favorite they want to follow & see on the throne in the end. In that sense I think the show has failed.
And a lot of that has to do with the main conflict between Alicent & Rhaenyra being so petty and uninteresting. Alicent wants her children on the throne because Rhaenrya lied to her face about being a bawd while Rhaenrya wants to be on the throne because she has a c**t or whatever, idk. This isn't really a gripping hook, this is mean girl shit for b***hes on twitter to go crazy over.
I can't help but to think back to serious chars like Tywin from GOT and what motivated him and why he saw it necessary that his side lead the realm, and then look at Hotd and not think I'm watching a parody. Also, the forced diversity is really starting to negatively affect my viewing.
