Why do I have a feeling that this’ll make more money than Wish AND The Marvels, opening weekend wise once it hits America?

Not sure about that...
In Leipzig, Germany, a city with 500K inhabitans, top is 19:30 German dub, bottom is 22:40 original dub with subtitles, on December 1st.
well everybody knows that Muslims prefer their native German
Also the only showings on that day in the biggest cinema here.
Meanwhile, Hollywoodslop like Napoleon gets five, six screenings a day.
Might actually head over to Berlin to watch, let's see...
I'm surprised there is a German dub, I thought Toho didn't want to do any dubs.
Some countries make dubs obligatory for release there.
I know that's why Parasite got French and German dubs, even though Bong Joon-ho prefers people watch his films with subtitles and he hates dubbing.
Ah, that makes sense, I guess.
We have dubs for everything here, it's terrible.
Most Germans are pretty bad at English compared to smaller Euro countries, because we have the budget to dub everything and nobody is forced to read subtitles and learn English as you go.
Oh, and what pisses me off even more is that it creates a subconscious Americanization of German society, because of the lack of distance from original material due to it being presented in most Germans' native language.
Some might say, that is not unintended.
I'm hoping it beats Marvels and Boy and the Heron beats Wish, just a few kicks to Disney's ribs from Nippon before the year ends
Based.
That would surely make Disney regret dropping Studio Ghibli because they're not as financially viable as Marvel or Star Wars.
Those morons actually dropped Ghibli? lmao
The Wind Rises was the last Ghibli film released by Disney in the US.
When Marnie Was There was the last Ghibli film released by Disney in France and China.
That said, Disney and Toho still co-distribute Studio Ghibli's films in Japan.
Japanese Disney's its own weird dumb animal giving the worst Square Enix director infinite money to spend on fabric and twinks for decades before finally shitting out a half-assed year-developed Kingdom Hearts sequel.
Disney and Bandai Namco also co-distribute Ultraman Blu-rays in Japan.
That's hilarious. Anime keeps getting more popular and Disney screwed their best in on the market. Get fricked Bob.
Agreed
>just Shin Godzilla but in the 40s
I mean I'm in, but that's all it is.
It's not. You're in for a treat anon.
It’s a prequel
Shin Godzilla
>"I am a mirror, come, embrace yourself"
Godzilla Minus 1
>"Live.."
They're apples and oranges.
i dont think it will considering it's released with subs only in most places
>Wish
>Marvels
>America
Don't care
Saw it tonight, it will surpass Shin Godzilla easily. This is a much for marketable and satisfying film. Saw it with a big group (10+) tonight and they all thought it was great. Most of them don’t care about Godzilla at all.
Zillabros I just saw it in IMAX and it was fricking amazing. Easily the most intense and violent Godzilla movies ever.
I enjoyed it. Godzilla was barely in it, but I actually cared about the human characters. Godzilla walked like a giraffe.
Large 4XD theater I was in tonight was 70% full.
I watch movie for she
Oh right. The theater I went to was the largest one for miles and there were only 12 other people watching with us. It was 5pm though.
>instantly turns your movie into kino
>$15M budget
Holy tucking shit.
That entire sequence was unbelievable. I’m going to see it again tomorrow.
It was cute showing him turning into baby shin Godzilla in the ocean at the very end
Frick me that movie was so based.
Absolutely mogs the last couple America Godzillas.
Mugen Train had way more screens.
So did Suzume.
Godzilla is playing in about 1/3rd the theaters.
suzume was the biggest heap of shit ive seen out of him in a while.
Garden of words was his last good film.
Suzume was just embarrassingly bad
I just got back from the theater. This was really good. In Godzilla movies there's two components right? The monster scenes and the human scenes and the human scenes usually are bad to mediocre.
In this one, the human scenes easily keep pace with the monster scenes and the monster scenes are pretty awesome on their own.
There are a couple incredible shots of Godzilla as well that are pretty intense.
Also at my viewing, there were some idiot tweens making tons of noise and one dude came all the way from the front of the theater to the very back and yelled at these kids and said things like "don't frick with me" and "I'll get your asses kicked out of here". They then got warned by the staff. It was nice that they shut up.
Just got back from watching it.
Honestly pretty good at striking the balance between human elements and godzilla elements which was an issue with the American films.
I mean yeah I love loads of monster content but just like marvel shit, nauseating action scenes for like 30 minutes with zero character investment is kind of boring.
Some gays will inevitably complain there wasn't enough Godzilla, but honestly he does the job he was meant to do.
The most interesting thing about this film wasn't Godzilla though, rather how heavily it focused on shitting on Death Before Dishonor war culture. Maybe I'm just not watching enough modern jap media but this film really shits on it more than anything I've ever seen.
I guess considering what Anno did with Shin, the only direction they could take with a Godzilla remake was compliment the nuclear horror idea by pointing out the flaw that led to the bomb being considered to begin with.
>how heavily it focused on shitting on Death Before Dishonor war culture
looking back if i had one complaint it would be that this element was a tiny bit heavy handed, they already had like three or four instances of people being disgusted at him for "failing" as a kamikaze, that speech by Doc at the beginning of the third act took it too far
I mean to be fair that shit at that time was supposed to be more of a threat to your life than shouting Black person in harlem as a white man.
It was almost unrealistic that protag-kun wasn't murdered which is probably why Tachibana had that sympathy moment with him when they first met, to establish to jap viewers how he just barely got away with it because the only guy who knew was also demoralized, until of course his second failure.
So, for people who saw it, what was going on with the guy's lady friend at the end? Has she become infected with some kind of Godzilla regeneration flesh or something? What was growing on her?
I noticed that too. Friend thought it might be radiation sickness since everyone probably got dosed pretty fierce.
I'm thinking Biolante.
She's dead. There is zero fricking chance a human being could survive that shockwave. Whatever was in the bed was either a radioactive mutant recombination from her genetic memory or a piece of Godzilla capable of mimicking human form. Given that the Godzillasaurus form on Odo Island was shown to have outright intelligence and malevolence (specifically hunting down each guy and mauling him without eating any), I can't fathom what sort of motivations or intelligence this Godzilla has.
pure kino
