Puss n boots and for some reason this shit has it and it’s been praised for it being the best thing ever. Why?

They tried this before with autistic characters but it didn't work because all the "autistic" characters were the nonverbal vegetable kind that you could mistake for cerebral palsy

God why the frick did they do that. Now if you tell someone you're autistic, they got like "YEAH WHY CAN YOU LOOK ME IN THE EYE THEN WHY CAN YOU TOUCH POLYESTER WITHOUT CRYING YOU FAKE AUTIST"

You could've asked why are cartoons obsessed with autism representation when all it amounts to is "mildly quirky" and I would've been on board. But you listed two movies and I'm sure you would struggle to find anything else. You'll probably reach into your ass for that time Ruby Gillman said, "I'M HAVING A PANIC ATTACK!" as evidence when it's a one-line joke.

The only reason it feels like a lot is because people STILL haven't shut the frick up about the Puss scene. Even though it's only one scene, it feels like it's been going on for two years. When you step back you realize you aren't annoyed with the product, but the people.

Except for the autism thing. That's the product. They keep shoving this type of character but they never have the balls to actually showcase a non-functioning autist and I find that insulting.

Genuinely have a nice day. Go on, raise your area's IQ scores by fifty points.

I don't know anon, why don't we get Rett's Syndrome Rep, or incontinence representation?

      Plus
      > Low functioning autistics don't real in media
"Rain Man" and possibly "i am sam" all count...

        >"Rain Man" and possibly "i am sam" all count...
But that's my point with cartoons. They want representation and parade that it's for kids to feel seen, but they won't dare show a 10-year old having a tantrum meltdown while being unable to speak because that wouldn't make for a good character in a kids show. It's a conundrum: we want representation but can't actually show reality. So we'll just make a bunch of Doc Browns, call it autistic, and pat ourselves on the back. It's lame.

This. Realistic depictions of panic attacks in media aren't a problem at all, what IS annoying is how people treat it like it's incredibly groundbreaking and deep and important and inspiring instead of talking about the quality of the media itself. Jokes about the panic attack scenes aren't directed at the scene, but at the people I just mentioned.

Fixing the movie, Spoiler of course

    >Anxiety should've been a sizeshifter godzilla like in the OG concept, still muppet like and orange, a hybrid between her beta design and the official one. As a main antagonist she's perfect tho
    >Envy should've had a more prominent role and also be bipolar, turning Riley into a jealous frick because her friends are going to better HS together or because the fire hawks are a lot better than her. Wreak more havoc into the headquarters as a secondary antagonist a la Darla Dimple, but nicer. Anger and Sadness both bond with her because envy comes from the feeling of missing something/injustice, so the public understands her better
    >Embarassment is fine as he is, he's a sweetie. I like him with sadness but I feel he should've had a connection with disgust too, wanting to be liked by her or banter
    >I literally do not know what the frick Ennui is there for aside the phone scene, you guys come up with a better role for her
    >Get some higer stakes to Riley, age her to 15, show her school life more instead of just the stupid hockey thing. Let her be more imperfect
    >climax is during a big hockey match, so the panic attack in front of so many people makes more sense
    >Anxiety turns into her bigger, chaotic form and still causes a storm, but Joy and some other calm her down a la Steven Universe and she lets go
    >Nostalgia appears more
    >add 15-20 more minutes to the movie for this

basically the biggest changes are Anxiety's concept and Envy who was the worst portrayal of her respective emotion
