Coraline has great animation, direction, designs, pacing, and atmosphere but it's sadly full of plot-holes and unanswered questions regarding its world. It also doesnt have any strong themes outside of "it's a cool story where cool things happen".

There's like very few. But if they are scratching your ass that much and you care to dig deep enough then you can solve those plot holes. Answers are hidden in the film and book too that explain them

It is, quite literally, a fairy tale. Its plot doesn't have to make airtight sense, things work differently in the twilit realms of the fair folk.
