Why do people like this character?

Why do people like this character? He's just a massive selfish asshole who's only defining trait is his inferiority complex and the fact that he constantly seethes at another man for being better than him.

he was genuinely fun in Namek. always plotting and executing, getting his ass kicked, being ambitious without guilt and so on.

            >Cell Max handles everybody with relative ease
            >Gohan Beast oneshots Cell Max
Even with the approximate year or so that passed since Granolah Gohan Beast is likely ahead of them. Even ignoring Gohan there's still Black Freeza who is at a ridiculous power level even by Dragonball standards.

              >Gammas are on par with post Granolah Goku/Vegeta according to Piccolo
Proof?????? Piccolo doesn't mention Granolah whatsoever in the movie. There's no way to discern the power of Goku and Vegeta on Beerus' planet against Orange Piccolo and Gohan Beast.

You can assume, as you have done, but any assumption holds zero weight.

                >Piccolo doesn't mention Granolah whatsoever in the movie
So? The movie takes place after the Granolah arc. Unless Goku/Vegeta doubled their strength in less than a year with no time chamber, Gohan is far stronger than them. The manga will likely explicitly explain this.

Lmao imagine being this upset that you can't follow simple facts. There's no maybes or guesswork, the only unknown is if Goke and Vegeta have had 6 months or a year to train, and I leaned towards a year to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm a Vegeta fan myself, but I'm not too childish/spicish to admit Gohan's ass pull OC Donut steel stupid ass looking hair form is the strongest Z fighter. Because as the other anon pointed out AT said so, even if he's senile and borderline retarded his word is still canon.

How can you guys talk about Dragon Ball still 30 years after the show aired, 20 years after it was a hip new thing in the west? I just don't fucking get it.

It was a lot of guy’s first anime. We watched it when anime was something new and foreign. Also it was hard to get new anime so we watched whatever anime ran on TV which was DBZ.
Nowadays zoomers have 100+ anime on their backlog from pirating and free streaming sites. Dragon Ball is not the best anime i watched, but it has a special place in my heart

not that guy, but similar sentiment. It's a very comfy show to watch, even if they are beating the shit out of each other and entire planets get destroyed it's got a wholesome charm to it. Not the best series out there but it's been consistently watchable, even super. Fuck the haters. I am an anime only though, dunno about the manga.

There's a couple years worth of manga arcs after the anime ends, it's worth reading. I was a guy who enjoyed the anime more and how it handled the same arcs the manga had but I've enjoyed where the story has gone.

I get that. Dragon Ball is the only anime where I still have geniune interest in after so many years. The random threads that pop up on /a/ and Cinemaphile do help keeping me interested though. Also the games are dope and old games have the nostalgia effect. Dragon Ball being tied to lifting helps keeping me interested too, as cringe as it may sound. So i guess for me it’s various different things, but most importanly the random DBZ threads i stumble upon which leads me to watch dragon ball videos on youtube for an hour. Guess others have the same thing

Because it's the original hype shonen series. Despite newer shit coming out that may have a more distilled and focused story, nothing can really beat the fun characters, fights, and interactions that DBZ has. It really only became a bad meme in the last decade and a half though with the introduction of Super which isn't that good. Nothing will really ever beat Z though. Nobody really has the naked creativity that Toriyama did back then. He could introduce new characters like the Ginyu force on a whim and they would be fun and a real challenge for the main characters and you could get hyped about them. Stuff now just doesn't hit as hard fr fr no cap bruh

He does eventually admit Goku is better so it’s all good, that’s probably Vegeta’s greatest character moment

Because he grew as a character from that into a good man who valued life and accepted Goku was better. He is the only character who has a character arc, as any other redeemed villain just does a 180 after meeting him and turns good.

GTfags REALLY expected Beijita to just retire after the Buu saga? Get over yourselves lmao

He still wants to surpass Goku as a means of bettering himself as a person and a warrior, but he now understands there's more important things in life. He also respects Goku's power and discipline, his entire beatdown on Goku Black Beijita is talking about how Goku worked his ass off for every ounce of power he has while Black is lazy and just stole it. Cell arc Beijita would NEVER have admitted respect for Goku lmao

Mostly people whose first exposure to the series was the Saiyan saga. If you watch the series from the beginning, he's like the 10th "started bad, but ended up fighting along Goku" character.

it's a tv show, dummy. he's supposed to be entertaining, not a nice guy.

Because he is fun in most of the arcs that matter. In the Saiyan arc he makes for a good main villain as his whole pride thing and high class warrior thing works well in contrast to Goku being a low class warrior and underdog. In the Frieza arc he is by far the funnest part of all of that with his scheming and eventual need to team up with the heroes in order to beat his enemies. He has a genuine moment of honesty with Goku in wanting him to defeat Frieza. During the Cell arc is where his seething about Goku comes into full effect and he actually doesn't just job to Goku because le Goku is le stronkest, he loses out because Goku trained smarter than him and even at one point looked like he was gonna clean up the whole problem with Cell before Goku even got a chance anyways. He also has another moment of honesty towards the end when he rages about Trunks and then eventually helps Gohan beat Cell. Great stuff. He really only is cemented as narrative second fiddle during the Buu stuff and beyond where all he is is a seether in regards to Goku and then in super just had a reddit tier seether relationship with him. Through the main cool arcs of DBZ though he is a great character though who is a blast to keep up with

DBZ is all about power levels and it's been done the best out of any anime. Vegeta and Goku both have the potential to be the strongest thanks to their gary stu genes. We've seen Goku win countless times, Vegeta always remains an underdog and underdog stories are interesting. The anime and movies have given us a bait and switch moments where Vegeta has been momentarily stronger but he's never truly won by given the final strike to a big bad.

They tried to dethrone Goku to make way to Gohan, but Gohan is lacking motivation and drive which makes him a boring character. They even gave him a different power up from Goku and Vegeta which took a fraction of effort anybody else has gone through, they literally call it Mystic Gohan and give it no proper explanation. Before that he went through the same rigorous training as Goku. Goku and Vegeta both work their asses off to get stronger.

      >Goku and Vegeta both work their asses off to get stronger
Vegeta does. Goku gets gifted special abilities and ass pulls. Vegeta is the true warrior, Goku is a lucky, likable retard tbh. If Goku wasn't Toriyama's pet, in real life Vegeta would surpass him in every way imaginable.
