They want the characters to be more "diverse", same reason they make Hermione a Black person.
      There are some cope reasons
      >He is Indian and Indians had snake whisperers that is why he can speak Parseltongue!
      >His name is Harry which sounds like the Indian name Haru (or something like it idk)!
Let's not forgot that even if his father was Indian he wouldn't be as dark as these fanarts would make you believe since he would be of mixed race.

Because they can related. They easily skate through life on their looks (magic) and then when they start to lose it they want to hold onto it through media (HP). It reminds them of how they used to have it, and they are also pretty damn good movies.

This explanation actually makes perfect sense on a freudian level kek

Especially considering the fact it's mostly white millenial women approaching middle age that are such huge HP buffs (my sister in her early 30's being a case in point for this)

Yup. Same with my sister and her friends. Liked it when they were little, and now REALLY like it and watch it once a year in October religiously. Pizza, wine, beer, tons of throw pillows and blankets and a HP marathon.

If you liked the first one then definitely, although they do kind of change over time. I like the last couple much less. Partially it's the content of the books and partially it's the studios chasing the success of twilight. They're much broodier teenage type stuff.

Women and failed men appreciate Harry Potter for two distinct reasons:
    1. Its aesthetics are reminiscent of peak white culture (therefore peak world culture), in that it is a boarding school setting therefore the kids must either have wealthy parents, or, in this case, some unique disposition (magical abilities) which sets them apart from "le other [girls / proles / muggles). The setting itself is absolutely peak white culture, in a cold rural setting within an ancient castle, whose professor speak in RP accents etc. Consider that both Emma Watson and ~~*Daniel Radcliffe*~~ were both privately educated at similar IRL schools, and therefore fit their respective roles perfectly (with state-schooled Rupert fitting his role as the Oliver-esque poorgay). It's life on easymode essentially, with no worries about money throughout ones childhood or adolescent, and a guaranteed job at the end. Balls, gowns, ancient portraits, all make for the upper class environment girls love because it affords them a sense of superiority and distinction from their peers (plus a choice of equally upper class guys).

    2. The fighting in Harry Potter is not done by hands or traditional weaponry, something very unique in fiction. Even Star Wars has lightsabers and laser guns, both advanced versions of swords and rifles (masculine). Instead Hermione can use her nerdiness to battle her enemies (using her academic knowledge and bookishness) and even if she is forced into combat, it isn't as if she has to adopt the nu-feminist idea that "gurls are just as strong as boys hehe!" as seen in many modern movies where some "badass" dyke karate kills ten guys twice her size. Instead she can muster all her repressed energy (which is abundant in nerdy girls) and use it to create a force which shoots from her wand (which satisfies her penis envy) to overwhelm the inner force of her enemies.

It's the ideal low IQ female-friendly story.

Women and men both have juvenile tendencies. Men watch comic book movies like it's cinematic art and play video games from their childhood and women love stories about being a kid.

Personally I thought it was good until the end of the 5th book. At least in book 5 Harry's still going to class and worrying about girls and quidditch and stuff. Book 6 is where it becomes really linear and narrow and Voldemort-focused.

It's very narrowly focused and rushed through. The story is centred around Harry's good vs evil experiences with Dumbledore. The romance/drama is Ron/Hermione-focused and doesn't really feel like it belongs anymore, since the story's gone from slice of life to narrative action. I can't remember any classes at all except for the ones relevant to the Half-Blood Prince Potions storyline.

Dumbledore was meant to be molesting Harry in all books. That is why Dumbledore came out as gay, in the last books, Rowling even admitted it on social media at the time when she was writing it. That "special friend" Dumbledore had in the flashbacks when he was younger that died, that was dumbledores lover. Then there was the famous tweet by Rowling about all the homosexualtry that happens in the dorms, that circle jerks happen often.

To the degree that women like Harry Potter more than other similar properties its likely down these factors:

a)Reflects enough of real life in its scenario that it appeals to the noted greater preoccupation women have with the mundane and interpersonal. It's a school, and much of the plot is to do with relatively trivial or abstract interpersonal drama, punctuated by pleasant activities and events, made more engaging by the fantasy dimension but still appealing to a genuine interest in everyday life and normal social experience.

b)Just general aesthetics and atmosphere. The same reason women will subscribe to dozens of instagram pages for particular aesthetics, whether its types of interior design, clothes, architecture. They like places and things, and Harry Potter caters to a number of the most popular vibes. The architecture and interiors throughout the series covers like every major pre WW1 style. It's not just the stately grandeur of much of Hogwarts, it also nails warm, smaller scale, "cozy" domesticity in places like the Weasley home or Hagrid's cabin.

The genuinely dramatic parts of Harry Potter, the outright adventure, they may like, but it's not what generally creates this particular attraction and fetishisation of the series
