To get a nonexistent/minority crowd to watch their shows, instead of focusing on a bigger audience.

There are some shows where I wonder if the writers paid too much attention to their Tumblr fandom.

Star Vs. actually has them end together doe.
        [...]
        So does Gumball.

        >Gumball does melodrama shit like the rest of the slop mentioned

No it didn't, Gumball didn't relied on its love interest and what not to make it shit like the rest of the cartoons mentioned actual clipwatchers

Starco as a couple was ruined thanks to how every other relationship Marco had got trashed to railroad them together, and also because of that episode where Star traps the two of them in a kissing booth.
I haven't watched Gumball past Season 2. I didn't enjoy Season 2's sense of humor.

        >Stargay saying the humor of Gumball was bad when his show is just painfully unfunny and cringe

That's because your show doesn't know what the concept of lore is

Gumball has like 10 episodes where he fricks up his or others love relationship and has to fix it

Nope, most of those arent serious and the serious eps are by someone else that affected the love relationship not Gumball

I remember something similar happening with Adventure Time which is why I stopped watching it early on. And yeah then I did the same with Regular Show. These stories come from the writers own experiences. Considering the state of modern “men”, it’s no wonder most of their ex’s turn into lesbians.

Wasn't there talks of a continuation or "where are they now" where they say the two broke up in college because Kim was too good for him or some shit.

No creators confirmed that one of the scrapped endings of season 4, was them beeing sad because they go to different colleges only to find up they go to the same and imply they will always stay together. The creators even said that.

I'm scared to rewatch this show, since I might not like it as much as I did when I was a kid. Plus I didn't actually watch anything beyond So The Drama

funnily I watched it as a kid/tween, but not because I was a fan. I always liked the romance episodes and even rewatched only them later. But one day I decided to watch the whole series and not gonna lie anon it became one of my most loved series. I like it so much that after I watched it, I even rewatched it ffs.

I will tell you it's mostly episodic format with a general continuity. This series is actually really diverse with the cast and the characters and without this beeing on the nose imho. Also while KP is an absolute beast and always wins, you will also see episodes where she has her flaws (beeing jelly). Still I think the series has humor, funny and even is still up to date. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUZ9HJPOZZw

Keep in mind, Season 3 was the actual finale of the show, with so the drama beeing the final movie. But fans demanded more, especially germans, and so they renewed it. Tone-wise it does definetly fit and it's more about them beeing in their senior year.

Tl;dr: I randomly watched that series and love it with all my heart and is the reason I visit this board.

Because writers no longer care about what previous writers do. They just ignore or undo character development so they can do their own version of it or something completely different.

      >>don't get with the girl you like, you'll just fight and have a bad relationship
supposed to be "don't treat people differently just because you're dating them," oft mishandled.
      >>don't get rich, you'll turn into a greedy monster
supposed to be "don't want more than you need," oft mishandled
      >>don't get fit, you'll turn into a jock bully
      >>don't get smart, you'll turn into a pompous know it all
both supposed to be "don't get full of yourself just because you're good at some things that others aren't," always mishandled
      >>do not accept a position of authority, you'll become a tyrannical butthole
supposed to be "don't abuse the power you have," oft mishandled
      >>stay in your lane, sheep, don't you dare try to make improvements to your life
no, it's just that writers of cartoons are hacks who try to deliver the same messages but they can not really address it seriously in the time they are given so they end up having things ramp up way too fast and way too extremely only for a watered down resolution

        STATUS QUO IS GOD.

          Anonymous

status quo would be achieved either way because most cartoons pre-adventure time were not serialized. an ed edd & eddy episode about one of the trio actually getting 'rich' would reach resolution when the three get into a fight over two dollars and the dollars drift away into kevin's pocket.

Wow, it's almost like cartoons are mostly forced to be comedies and comedies have to follow the status quo otherwise execs who don't even watch what they fund complain that reruns are "too confusnig".

homie, shows like Family Matters, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Full House, Home Improvement, and Friends were all fricking comedies, but they still allowed characters to change and grow from time to time and weren't afraid to have permanent change in the series.
Cartoons aren't like this because they're comedies, cartoons are like this because they're aimed at moronic children and manchildren who hate change.

The idea of adding breakups to a lot of this stuff and such started in the late 2000s and for what it's worth it was a noble intention.
The Total Drama creator talked about this and said that there was a general sentiment that people in the industry were giving kids the impression was that their first love would be their only love and creators wanted to start using shows to prep kids for the bad moments they'd inevitably have to face like first heartbreak, first time seeing the other person with someone new, and first time moving on from a relationship.

Too bad they suck at this and write convoluted shit to engineer the breakup into happening instead of just letting the characters drift apart or have a few bad moments
