Why does Cinemaphile hate horror films so much? Literally every single horror thread is filled with people pearl clutching and b***hing over horror.

Is it all horror or just atmospheric slow burn A24 horror?
all horror
People who don't like stepping in dog shit are just pearl-clutchers.
yeah but they're still pearl-clutchers which means they're gay
all horror movies feel the same
idk how people dont get bored of the same formula
The Thing, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Re-Animator all feel the same?
If by "all the same," you mean incredibly boring, then yes.
Bait or mental moronation
moron take
I bet you like the social network
>I bet you like the social network
no that's just straight up boring, horror pretends to be interesting but since it's all the same boo goregay tropes it's just as boring in the end.
Some horror is great. Scifi and supernatural based horror can be cool. Non supernatural slashers and goreporn suck mostly and I don't really consider slow burn a24 "horror" to be anything other than spooky drama.
>Non supernatural slashers and goreporn suck mostly
But those are kino
Horror is a creatively bankrupt genre.
This. When was the last legitimate classic? The Shining? That was 44 fricking years ago.
it's really a limited genre. once you've seen one jump-scare, you've basically seen them all.
and no modern horror can do a two hour blow burn kinofilm, and not fuhgit all up at the end with jump outs. prove me wrong
>Cinemaphile is one person
only horror that is not liked here is soi horror
Then explain why so many people here seethe over gore in horror films?
I only discuss horror kinos in /hor/, those are the only horror threads worth browsing
Read this threads replies
>But that's just one thread!
I see threads like this all the time
>But it's related to Terrifier, a meme movie!
I have seen threads like this unrelated to terrifier
The Terrifier is not even horror, it's just gore. Might as well videotape an appendectomy and call it "horror"
>Horror film has no gore
>LE A24 SLOW BURN SOI!
>Horror film has gore
>LE TORTURE PORN TRASH!
Yes. Violence is not inherently horror, it does not elicit fear within me, it's just grosses me out
>Horror film is...le horrific? AHHHH I'M LOOSING MY MIND!!!!
So don't watch horror then?
That's literally the opposite of what I said, ESLbro.
You are implying that horror films do not need violence, as it grosses you out, correct?
No, I said violence is not inherently horror.
Okay, but Terrifier literally is horror? It's a slasher. Are you implying that if a horror film has too much gore, it's no longer horror?
Gore has a separate fanbase. Goregays don't watch regular horror.
I watch gore horror movies but I watch regular horror too though?
>regular horror
Is that a thing, I thought all horror was watching idiots get slashed and torn open by the bad killer/ghoulie, repeat till the credits roll. In fairness I'm no expert, I saw a bunch when I was teenager because of friends and thought they sucked (Nightmare on Elm Street, Jason, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, etc..) Too each their own but I've never seen one I liked.
Holy shit, get better taste
Sometimes I'll read or participate in an argument here and think that covid brain damage might be a real thing.
Except Cinemaphile calls every horror movie "soi horror".
I have anxiety and I can't imagine watching a kino to simulate feeling scared
normies are weird
Psycho II is a very average horror movie but the female lead is really cute.
They are mostly dumb jump-scares and gore for goregays. Boring and ugly, the only exception being fun monster movies but those aren't really horror as much as action violence with cool monsters.
Discussions about horror films end up in the same "hardcore" rut that discussions about spicy food end up in. It becomes about who can "take more" and that's annoying for most people.
I hate them because they're shit.
see
Pretty sure you've never even seen those movies that anon mentioned.
I literally have seen each one multiple times, what are you trying to say here? They aren't actually horror or some shit?
Normies think "black person dies first" is a real thing that constantly happens in horror movies and they get super mad when you ask them to name 10 examples and they can't.
