Why does Steven Universe have a 90% female cast? I don't understand why Rebecca decided to make all the gems female instead of making some male and others female. I've heard that she wanted to avoid hiring men or white women in the show. If you look it up, most of the gems are voiced by women of color. Most Are black or Asian. I was surprised to find out that Ruby is voiced by a Chinese American and Pearl is voice by a Phillipino. There is also a VA that is a troony. I don't know which one it is. Was it Rainbow Quartz' VA?

I honestly do feel bad for SU, it really had potential to be a great show, but that potential was wasted by making Sugar the show runner. Sugar simply doesn't have the skill necessary to be a good show runner. A good story boarder, but a terrible director. Just about every bad decision or terrible call was Sugar's doing. SU really needed someone more experienced and suited to actually directing a show than her. People say SU wasn't given enough time by CN, but that's absolute bullshit. SU has a longer run time than shows like ATLA or Teen Titans, and most shows don't get anywhere near 6 season and a movie. CN gave Sugar ample time and opportunity, and she wasted it hiring celebrity voice actors and wasting entire episodes focusing on fricking Onion of all people. It pains me to see such a great opportunity be squandered by someone who was given so much.

I didn't say every bad decision was Sugar's, just that most of them were. And besides, she ran the show, not Zuke. It was up to Sugar as the show runner to not let Zuke run wild the way she did, so even the shit Zuke can still kinda be blamed on Sugar for not keeping better control of her workers. Like I said, she simply doesn't have the personality or skills to be a director, that's why we had to suffer through Zuke's shit.
