This show is dumb but I took from this that Lip was a spoiled little shit. He thought he did ANYTHING to make ends meet but clearly he hadn't before this point. It's nice to see him suffer some but it would've been nice to see him actually make it after truly earning it. His AA arch is pretty good, very realistic, but I'm an alcoholic so I can see why that wouldn't appeal to others.
Lip is a black hole that drags everyone near him to their doom. The fricking moron has all these opportunities and successful people willing to help him out to get ahead and instead he not only fricks up the silver platter he was just given but also ruins the lives of the people who gave it to him. This wouldn't be so bad if he eventually learned from this but no, every season is "Lip has an opportunity to get good, lets see him frick it up!"
I would tend to agree. He was their ticket out, the whole family, and he was smart enough to know it but too dumb to do anything about it except b***h and moan about how he does everything and is the most amazing all the time and how tiring it is to always be right (which he isn't, dunning-kreuger in action)

I don't get it either. In any other reasonable line of work you find solutions to improve the workflow, come up with routines to run things more effective, not in the kitchen. They insist on doing things the hard way for absolutely no reason. The employees don't even question it, "this is the way things are done and this is the way things always will run". Stubborn fools.

It's not about it being hard to be a cook. He inherited a shitty failing business. They hardly even go into actually cooking the meals, and in fact they all seem to be very competent cooks but small shit blows up quickly.

Just tried watching this last night, I couldn’t bring myself to watch the second episode.
The quick, slangy dialogue and fast-paced cuts between scenes had me constantly rewinding asking “what did they just say?” Or “what just happened?”
It feels really amateurely filmed and written.
I had almost no clue what the frick was going on by the end of the first episode.
it's not just that the dialogue is bad they spent the whole episode shouting at and over each other
I watched for the breasts, Rossums are fricking mint (her whole body really, she's perfect cast for hotass hoodrat) and it is comfy for me to have on in the background which probably doesn't say good things about my childhood.

I watched this show for much longer than it deserved.
After when Debbie has the kid, Ian dates the troony and Frank falls inlove with that chick with cancer is when I turned it off. This show tried so hard to push "Poor people can never get ahead because the system is built against them!" When it is clear the whole family is just a group of self destructive frick ups that never learn from their mistakes.

They have to push this woke shit. First season had the hood be real where people are bigoted as frick but you still know them all your life so it's more complicated than just simple labels of racist/bigot or whatever. Say what you want, but a FTM walking around the hood should not be safe and it's entirely out of the realm of reality to show a trans person being immediately catered to by hood rats. They act like "omg we're crooks and criminals and have a total lack of morals as a family and friends group but we're not racist!!!"
There's a million other things, my main gripe being Fiona gets made out to be this put down person who is really great separate from her circumstances. She never really gets her comeuppance of which she has a lot coming, idk maybe Rossum screwed up by leaving the show.
I liked when the writers used Frank as a mouthpiece for their politics because it shows how fricking stupid they are to label everything they don't like Hitler but then use this absolute piece of shit to relay their views. He's the most popular character because he's so full of shit and wouldn't piss on someone on fire unless they spotted him a $20 first.
I tried not to mention how my little bro said he related a lot to Lip but I just did. It was like someone saying they relate with early GoT Dany lmao what a train wreck waiting to happen.

She is precocious and has a real culinary education but she is responsible for the biggest frick up in the show and is revealed to have been kind of a frick up in general. The show doesn't take itself that seriously, and everyone is flawed in some way.
