Most viewers tend to dislike asspulls from the hero's side more because it feels like a cheap victory. Villains typically get a pass because it adds more obstacles that the hero must overcome. Not saying it wouldn't feel contrived, but it would be less of a bad thing compared to when a hero has plot armor.
