Ultimately, both ends of the spectrum have different views on what is more important to a country. One could argue a strong military, secure borders, cultural/ethnic homogeneity, and strong personal freedoms are more beneficial to a country. What the frick. We've had tons of "meaningless wars" since nukes, there is a proxy war being fought in eastern Europe right now. The world has been trending towards "globalism" for the past 500 years and few modern-day ethnic groups resemble what they were like even a few centuries ago.

It's about what America can be, more than what it is. To be frustrated and angry at those running your country is to show how much you care. The only ones who truly lack patriotism are those who celebrate doing worse, or nothing at all and proclaim themselves proud for doing so. To evolve and strive for more is human nature and the American Dream is about anyone being able to create a life for yourself from nothing in the country so long as you work hard. If anything, pretending like those dismantling that dream shouldn't be criticized for doing so is far less patriotic than demanding better from them
