                Up is only oscar worthy from.the start to when the grandpa enter his home one last time. From then on it just becomes mid. The villian is a little interesting near the end up the only build up we ever get is his portrayal in the movie theater. Also fun fact, apparently they made like 5 or 6 different ways to kill the villian cause they couldn't think of one that was fitting enough while also not being too graphic.

        Like I said, a long time ago. 20-30 year ago, but the modern ones that started in 2010 quickly became shit. Personally I hated them since day one.           maleficent was the one people actually liked and its success is what encouraged disney to keep going, you have to remember that the 2010s remakes were a new wave of live action remakes and should be separately categorized from the 90s/00s attempts. iirc every live action remake made between maleficent and batb had positive reception, except for that snow white remake and its unnecessary spinoff sequel. but after beauty is when they were all in agreement about the films being soulless shit.

      The only Disney live action remake I saw was Pinocchio because my kid wanted to watch it. It was awful CGI slop with a bald nog fairy. The scene that sums it up was Pinocchio smelling freshly dumped horse shit on the street. It's hard to believe Disney itself created it, it feels like a joke.
