>no shit cutaways like family guy >decent characters unlike family guy >gave up on politics a long time ago >no season long lore >not a grounded show so they can do whatever they want
Yeah I feel like that has more to do with the character being relatively flexible.
It's not like suddenly new writers for the Simpsons are gonna make Lisa not-annoying or make Homer not-stupid. It's the entire legacy as cartoon characters
Whereas pick any main characters from American Dad and they all sorts of arcs and growth as characters.
Nah, the episode with the new neighbors was kino and the dinner party ep where Stan is trying to sell Lord of the Rings memorabilia might be one of the best ever >I’M HERE TO BUY THE RING
Hey Cinemaphile can we stop shitting on Seth McFarlane and get back to having a sophisticated little soiree where we talk about jazz, beautiful ladies, and more /jazz/?
Haha I wonder what today's show will be about >Stan gets obsessed with THING >his obsession causes issues with the rest of the family >he needs to learn how to stop being obsessed with THING >he is ALWAYS in the wrong and the butt of the joke >Even Francine that's a moronic bimbo is always in the right against him >Oh and insert some random Steve singing to some self jackoff.
The one where he gets obsessed by a music band
The one where he gets obsessed by a lake fishing
The one where he gets obsessed by his mom
The one where he gets obsessed by a video game
The one where he gets obsessed having the perfect father's day
A lot of talented writers have contributed to it and it's never had to dumb itself down to appeal to manchildren. Unfortunately this current season has a lot of cracks showing, not only with some of the cast starting to sound really goddamn old (Seth especially) but also th first real Reddit and Morty tier episode with Steve becoming a Pickle Rick character.
I remember american dad being the only tolerable show around. Decent characters that are funny but not total comedians. Thought out storylines and actual funny jokes. I watched some family guy after that or whatever its called and within seconds became so fricking annoyed with the childish humor, moment and characters. Hey maybe ill start watching this show again thanks bro
It hasn't, it's shit now and has been for a few seasons. It stayed decent for longer than Family Guy, not sure whether it stayed good longer than Simpsons but obviously it stayed good until more recently because The Simpsons is a 30 year old show. South Park had a much longer run of being good than any of these shows but ofc it's gonna fall off sooner because it is an older show.
Basically AD gets a big advantage by being more recent but as for how long it was good for I don't think it is king. Fell of hard in the TBS era with gold every now and then.
They retooled the show after the first few seasons to do the Roger personas thing and the show skyrocketed in terms of quality. They retooled it in a way that really solved a lot of problems other shows suffer from. I can’t think of anyone on the other shows who really does that. They use this weird fantasy setting to their advantage as well and really push for weirder story ideas than other shows to really hammer a bit or joke. Morty show has a few funny bits but the constant insanity and jokes too smart by half make it an unwelcome addition to my tv habit. American Dad did a scooby doo episode the other day for halloween and it was very, very good. A decent amount of spoof stuff but not entirely that.
Also they spoof more interesting stuff like charging with crystal energy or the old playboy tv show.
Because it focuses on being funny instead of being topical (not counting the early seasons).

FG is mostly apolitical and its still absolute shit.
The Simpsons was already absolute shit around season 19. AD is perfectly watchable at the same season count.
Yeah I feel like that has more to do with the character being relatively flexible.

LOL what, almost every episode has political jokes
>implying AD doesn't
>implying FG isn't an equal opportunity offender
>implying you aren't an overtly sensitive little b***h
Nta, but family guy said they'd stop doing jokes, at all, going forward.
FG isn't an equal opportunity offender
Palestinian Alarm Clock vs israeli "Oh jeez moses we're so lovably awkward but good with money!" jokes
Clearly, there are lines that must be drawn
Yeah it sure is only what you described, and not also jokes about them ogling money, they're religion being a ploy to be lazy.

How else would I know Italians are not israelites without a catchy little jingle to help me remember
American Dad has caught up with 2010 Simpsons?
because Seth MacFarlane isn't involved in the writing.
He's not? I thought he quit writing Family Goy to work on this show instead

respond to me you piece of shit
It's about 10-25 years younger, as a show. The characters aren't -too much- of a one-dimensional one trick pony that have been written into a corner.
also this.

what episode number is this?
I want to know this as well. I know Google but I'm lazy, and I like you guys
They're better than Family Guy, South Park, and Simpsons
Writers had SOVL and were given relatively free creative control
This is the only episode from TBS era American Dad that I've watched because my dad recommended it. It was fricking great.
I keep telling myself to get back into the show but it never happens.
Hey Cinemaphile can we stop shitting on Seth McFarlane and get back to having a sophisticated little soiree where we talk about jazz, beautiful ladies, and more /jazz/?
Because it was never that good so the drop seems less hard.
Haha I wonder what today's show will be about

Name five episodes
The one where he gets obsessed by a music band
The one where he gets obsessed by a lake fishing
The one where he gets obsessed by his mom
The one where he gets obsessed by a video game
The one where he gets obsessed having the perfect father's day
Stan was just pretending to be like this in the episode to infiltrate a tournament and assassinate a target.

Seth is only 50 so he's only a decade older than Stan. He shouldn't be sounding old so soon. Maybe it's the damage of two decades of voice acting.
>only a decade
Americans made another great show. They literally cannot be stopped.
