Because he confessed to the Queen and expected his actual life to end and it should have. But now he must live as an oathbreaker while some homosexual noblemen attempts to blackmail you for the rest of your days. At least, that was his understanding of it.

You /nohonor/ c**ts would never understand.

It wasn't presented as blackmail. It was an entirely reasonable understanding, and if it was blackmail, why would Christon give up his life to beat up the guy who he did, rather than the guy who was marrying his love anyway?
The only two outcomes that would have made sense are
      >Christon snaps and kill Laenor
      Or
      >Christon realizes what Laenor's lover presented and the complicated entanglement continues to progress

        Anonymous

It was blackmail. How the frick do you not get that?
And what do you think would happen if he killed the heir to the Velaryon house rather than some bozo unknown "knight" of no status? Fricking idiot.

Gee, he might be tortured and killed, which is already on the docket for him after getting mixed up with Rhaenyra, and probably also the punishment for killing the esteemed guest of the king and queen at the damn wedding. It isn't blackmail if it goes both ways, which is what Laenor's lover was acknowledging. It was more of a "I know what you know and here's my secret as well", why the hell would he blackmail him and give him ammo at the same time? Fricking moron.

            Anonymous

It's blackmail. "Ill rat you out if you rat me out". It goes both way, sure. But Criston wouldn't want to have that hanging over his head. So he killed him and could easily plant something and just say "he was pulling a sword to the princess" or some shit. Doesn't really matter, as he was planning to commit sepuku afterwards. Coward.

its because he felt great shame over his situation and took it out on sir cole, its unclear in the show because they changed it from the books, in the books he stews in his stress for a few days and then fights teh guy in a tournament and gets carried away and accidentally kills him.

they changed it for the show to make it more like the red wedding and it ruined it.

Nothing is worse than that shitty Fire & Blood book. It's not even a novel. It's like reading some gay 700 page wikipedia article. And now they're changing it anyway. What a waste of time.

              Anonymous

Why do another tournament when you can just shoot that part of the story in the throne room set which is already built?

Why not cut out most of Dany's supporting characters and give all their dialogue to Jorah Mormont so he seems like the smartest fricking guy in the world?

              The answer may surprise you.

Because they've already had multiple scenes of random carnage breaking out during genteel functions. It's becoming some weird thing this show does. As if the nobility doesn't really value their sons and daughters lives.

The answer was money, gay. They only care about adapting the broad strokes.

He did, though. He immediately went to go kill himself he killed the gay guy, but the queen stopped him right before he put the blade in his own gut. The only reason he's alive is because the queen interrupted him in the act of seppuku, which demonstrates that he was LITERALLY throwing his life away.

The last 10 minutes of the chapter were pure script chaos:
    >King is literally thinking his dead is near, need medical help to sleep peacefully
Cut to ceremonial dinner, king look fresh and like new, not even coughing, like he is in a dream or something
    >7 days of feast and then wedding
They literally look like having the wedding shortly after, everybody dressed exactly the same, no guests at all as in low cost
    >Hey buddy, we better protect each other as secret lovers
Proceeds to smash his head in public

Literally just cuts to people chimping out, frick development

Criston felt immense shame for what he did. He was ready to accept being executed. He felt like a scumbag, as a lowborn who took the maidenhead of a princess without marrying her.

Then this rich noble dude comes up and is like “nahhh bro it’s chill, the king-consort and I have an understanding, see? Would you like to meet my gay lover, your new king?”

If lowborn Cole breaks his vows, he gets gelded and tortured to death. The king-consort’s lover, a noble, suffers ZERO consequences for his affair, and neither does the princess, who casually invites Cole to be her cuckold. Imagine the shame he felt, as a lowborn whose only claim to fame was taking a sacred vow to be in the Kingsguard. Cole killed Joffrey out of pure MUH HONOR spergout rage. He didn’t care about being punished since his execution was already a sure thing in his mind.

It was just one of many disgustingly weak scenes

    >Daemon can just waylay and kill his wife without problems but we don't get to see it
    >The dead wife's relative makes a token complaint directly to Daemon about the affair, immediately retreats after a few replies (completely out of place, obviously filling plotholes to get to a specific point)
    >king conveniently starts to die just when shit hits the fan

    >why he smash the gay guys head in
Have you ever met a homosexual? They're insufferably self-absorbed, neurotic buttholes. They make you want to smash their heads if you actually have to deal with them in your job or social circle, even your family. They're awful people who deep down want you to hate them. Oh, and they want to groom young boys.

Remember GoT? Where conflicts between characters were built up between multiple episodes? So far in HotD everything happens within the course of 1 episode. Are we back to true villain of the week again Cinemaphile?

      Anonymous

Crabman was literally a villain of the week, so yeah. This show is just doing a moronic setup under the assumption that we'll care about the final characters more during the Dance of Dragons. Except that they're recasting so no, we won't, making all of this kind of a waste of time.

This show sucks but the reason(s) he bashed the gays skull in was
    1. he is an honorable man who has tarnished his honor in an irreparable way
    2. his proposal to the princess was an attempt to repair his honor in some degree and to marry the woman he loves. Her refusal to run away with him and wanting to keep things as they are not only cuts his heart it further degrades his honor.
    3. His confession to the queen is his last hope to retain any semblance of honor. He hopes that a swift death will expunge it at best or at the very least he won't have to live with it.
    4. The gay "subtly" implies that if his butbuddies secret isn't kept safe the princesses (cristons) secret won't be.
Point 4 is the last straw for him, the last indignity he can stand.

      >3. His confession to the queen is his last hope to retain any semblance of honor. He hopes that a swift death will expunge it at best or at the very least he won't have to live with it.
That scene did not play out like an honorable man tortured with guilt "confessing". It played like two 20-something awkward morons having an awkward conversation when cringe happens and then they both look shocked like "what is going on?". It's clear the writers are protecting Ser Cristan because this show is a soap opera for women and they don't want to totally wreck his character. I wouldn't be surprised if his fate is totally different than whats in Fire & Blood.

Why wouldn't he get away with it? All of those people are from different houses and families in different lands, they arent even neighbors. They don't give a frick about each other so why would they stop a duel from happening?

Because homosexuality is a negative trait that should be exterminated from the human condition, like down syndrome.
