Yes. The HBO layoffs are less likely to happen with liberal minded groups as profit isn't as important to them and is less likely to be tied to investors. Investors go to make return on investment which require growth and profit. Lefties are more inclined to be worker owned.

True. Consolidating power/money in the hands of fewer and fewer has been the plan and philosophy. I'm not even saying that's right or wrong, that's just the nature of hierarchy. Ideally wealth would exchange evenly and fairly to with the invisible hand driving reasonable demand for reasonable products, where consumer and worker are provided fair wages and prices. Largely the economy and wealth has been tied to the stock market meaning growth, not just profit, are absolutely vital to your ability to retire or pass on wealth. Growth comes from the expense of high prices and low worker compensation. Cuts will never come from the top. They'll rather ruin you than lose growth potential.

TV station are just reprogrammed interchangeably by their owners now. Nick gets MTV programs, for example. There is no network identity, just cold demographic analysis telling them the average cable tv watcher at 7PM EST will tune in to watch Twister on cable if flipping channels, kids be damned.

This. The youngsters need to be introduced to him and his legacy. Now that they're seeing him in a movie they will look him up and watch more of his movies. Everybody wins.

it was actually a cartoon all along

Well I suppose since it is a Warner Bros. Production they have nothing better to fill the movie block with. But it is still strange to me, I wonder how they'll censor it. Reminds me when they played Michael Bay's Transformers, sure it's based on a cartoon, but it was aimed at an older audience.

      >nothing better to fill the movie block
Y'know except the plentitude of good animated movies they used to air between 1998-2005, nope can't can't air those otherwise the braindead alphabrat viewers might get scaood or even worse, develop standards which would mean they'd stop watching the visual/auditorial cancer the networks air 24/7.

Fair enough, I don't see why not either. It's probably a lack of caring so they just tossed it into the block. At least that's my conclusion.

Wouldn't be the first time they showed a live action movie that wasn't animated in any way. But they usually go for family movies.

The actual answer is because the sequel's coming out next year and Cartoon Network's execs got orders on high to shill the original so people won't be hesitant to go see it. Networks spam air prequels and sequels to new shit all the fricking time.

It's just Cartoon Network was spared from that bullshit for the most part previously because attracting and maintaining a particular audience (ie people looking for fricking cartoons) was deemed more valuable than just shilling whatever. Clearly that time is passed and Cartoon Network is just a channel to fill with Discovery shit now. RIP.

Twister was my favorite movie as a little kid. So seeing it on CN would have literally blown my mind.

The closest thing I could compare the levels of hype to would have been the EENE alien invasion episode, which always reminded me of War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise.

Really? Got a any proof of this? The first one did well at the box office, but it was no Jurassic Park. Yeah I loved it as a kid, but I can tell you with certainty I was in the minority. Also Twister is way more intense and not as light hearted as say Men in Black. The opening scene of Twister would straight up tramatize some kids.

I remember watching this film multiple times throughout my childhood. I was very impressed by the visual effects and it made me interested in the science behind storms like these.
