He's a star not an actor. Having said that I agree with this guy to an extent . He does have a fantastic filmography and it's his choice in projects that have elevated his career, not his talent.

I can't really recall any kinos starring Clooney apart from Ocean's Eleven and a few Coen Bros comedies
Also, why can someone like Christian Bale play Batman, and also act in smaller movies where he plays a regular person?
People need to admit that Clooney isn't good.
OP wants to know why Clooney is boring, and it's because he was famous for being good looking. I'm just giving examples of other good looking people who can also act.
He was okay? He was carrying cinema with like 20 other people for a long time. He's been in like a hundred movies, and that's the kind of people you need to keep your industry alive.
Yeah, I agree, and I said something like that in this thread. I said the older people looked better. They carried movies just by being good looking. >oh it's a new movie with [good looking person] 🙂
It worked for George Clooney, lol.
I can agree with that, but at least older actors looked better. The current George Clooney is like Jacob Elordi or something, but who knows if he'll reach Clooney fame. Clooney was everywhere like a decade ago.
He has good range, he can do serious drama as well as comedy. He just prefers certain type of traditional Hollywood projects. He’s also a good director.
>In 2013, the star co-founded his own brand of tequila, Casamigos Tequila. Four years later, in 2017, the founders were able to sell the brand to Diageo, an alcohol conglomerate, for an astounding $1 billion
Alright I'm here to shut the "le great filmography" guy up
Return of the Killer Tomatoes - shit sequel nowhere near as good as the first
ER - shit tv show that convinced normies in the 90s that they knew about medical shit
From Dusk Til Dawn - worst Tarantino movie after Grindhouse
Batman and Robin - worst Batman movie of all time
Peacemaker - boring
Thin Red Line - cut out of movie cuz he sucks
Out of Sight - only remembered for prime jlo
Three Kings - outacted by marky mark and ice cube
Welcome to Collingwood - introduced the world to the Russo Bros
Perfect Storm - poor mans Titanic
Solaris - Horrible American remake of a classic Tarkovsky movie. Clooney out here literally killing foreign cinema
Intolerant Cruelty - worst Coen bros movie
Up in the Air - whole movie felt like a frick you after America just went through a recession
The American - what if Jason Bourne was old and boring
Tomorrowland - one of the biggest Disney flops of all time, killed Brad Bird's career
>Hey Ethan, I was wondering if you could give me a role in your next Oscar-winning drama >No, but we'll call you when we do another one of our stupid comedies where you play a fricking idiot
De Niro did come to mind when I was writing that. An actor I like (Ian McKellen) didn't become famous until he was old, and I just think old people roles are really limited. I watched his Sherlock Holmes movie, and it was very simplistic, as he's an old man.
Ageing might be what's killing movies, as the young people aren't good enough to replace them.
For example: Millennials had James Bond. Where's the zoomer James Bond? Where's their Harry Potter, that had movies for a decade. They can't even find young people good enough to carry franchises.
>He just didn't have as much mainstream recognition.
Right, and I didn't know he existed before Gandalf and Magneto, because I'm not that old (I'm 31). I only discovered him once he was an old man, and at that point, he doesn't get roles anymore.
I was just trying to explain what I mean by ageing killing a person's career. They don't get many leading man roles anymore, unless it's some rare kino like True Grit.
Logan Paul is their James Bond and Mr Beast their Harry Potter
That's horrifying, because it means their idols are regular people. >i love this guy because.... he's rich and popular 🙂
Is that who they want to look up to? I guess it is. Feels very Medieval, and they've accepted their peasant status.

it's pretty sad yes.
But it's also studios focusing an IPs and not an star power to promote a movie and social media destroying all the mystique

>studios focusing an IPs and not an star power
Absolutely. They seem to think people will go watch Big Hero Man. Who's playing Big Hero Man? Is it someone people like? Maybe find some people like that, because it's how it worked in the past.

yeah just look at that Australian guy on steroids who plays Thor. He fricking acts like a Golden Retriever. they all look like hulk but act like phaggots. so instead of trying to be cool and emulating Sean Conneries Bond, they go online and watch twats like Andrew Tate and think that's gonna get them girls. but I'm kinda positive that there'll be shift. has always been a pendulum, but I don't see any good young actors that could change that atm

I mean he should be happy he got some roles when he was way past retirement age for normal careers.

it's always with big stars that age well. see Robert Redfood, Brad Pitt, Cary Grant
I think he's solid. He knows what he's good at and doesn't embarass himself by going for the roles he can't handle. I don't expect a Marriage Story performance from him, the kind of extreme emotions and expressions.
Solid is a good description. Sometimes people just want a solid guy as the lead, and I feel like solid guys are missing right now. Like, everyone went and watched Inception, and they had no idea what it was about, but they liked the main character.
Yeah, he's like Ryan Gosling. Does anyone think Gosling is the best actor ever? No, and they think he's solid. He has multiple good movies, which already puts you at the top.
Naw, that's not his gimmick. His gimmick is handsome + nice guy. It doesn't matter what you do if you're ugly. Clooney enhanced his latent power by being likeable. That's why you would see him on magazines with headlines like "most handsome man alive".
Range is overrated. He's got a great filmography. And a lot of actors don't have range.
He's a star not an actor. Having said that I agree with this guy to an extent . He does have a fantastic filmography and it's his choice in projects that have elevated his career, not his talent.
three kings was the only good film he was in and he was no better than the other leads
I can't really recall any kinos starring Clooney apart from Ocean's Eleven and a few Coen Bros comedies
>Ocean's Eleven
shite
>Coen Bros comedies
shite
he was goo material or fat lonely women, that is his career
In addition to the Coen and Ocean's movies there's:
Michael Clayton
The Descendants
Up in the Air
Out of Sight
Fantastic Mr Fox
Three Kings
Syriana
>The Descendants
I really like the Descendants, but I havent watched it since it came out. Maybe time for that
The American
The Men Who Stare At Goats
Solaris
Gravity
works on my machine
>Why is he such a boring and limited-range actor?
kremlin plant career like oliver stone
>kremlin
both are cia though
oliver stone is just double agent
>>Why is he such a boring and limited-range actor?
>kremlin plant career like oliver stone
Nice glowie frog bro.
it's the truth
literally look oliver stone early life
yale
all I'm saying
yale.
too handsome/charming to convincingly play a pared down unflattering role that would show his acting chops
Why could Brad Pitt do it, and not George Clooney? It's because the former is a better actor.
Also, why can someone like Christian Bale play Batman, and also act in smaller movies where he plays a regular person?
People need to admit that Clooney isn't good.
no-one would argue clooney is a better actor than brad pitt tho
thats not the point of the thread
OP wants to know why Clooney is boring, and it's because he was famous for being good looking. I'm just giving examples of other good looking people who can also act.
obvsly, but you brought up Pitt as an unnecessary comparison when it wasn't a comparison thread
not me
Brad Pitt is just okay. He was pretty bad in the Tree of Life.
He was okay? He was carrying cinema with like 20 other people for a long time. He's been in like a hundred movies, and that's the kind of people you need to keep your industry alive.
Because he's handsome as frick.
Yeah, I agree, and I said something like that in this thread. I said the older people looked better. They carried movies just by being good looking.
>oh it's a new movie with [good looking person] 🙂
It worked for George Clooney, lol.
the redpill is that most actors out there really don't have much of a range and just rely on their charisma or whatever
I can agree with that, but at least older actors looked better. The current George Clooney is like Jacob Elordi or something, but who knows if he'll reach Clooney fame. Clooney was everywhere like a decade ago.
>limited range
He has good range, he can do serious drama as well as comedy. He just prefers certain type of traditional Hollywood projects. He’s also a good director.
>autist can't appreciate the genius of subtle but profound acting
Give some youtube clips as examples please.
>that one guy standing up and walking away
lmao
god urban "street culture" is so cringe.
he never had to git gud because women just like his face that much. fair play though to the coffee man
He really is the coffee man, lol. He made millions just being in those Nespresso ads.
He had his own tequila brand too.
>In 2013, the star co-founded his own brand of tequila, Casamigos Tequila. Four years later, in 2017, the founders were able to sell the brand to Diageo, an alcohol conglomerate, for an astounding $1 billion
Not just women, no homo.

george is the best actor who ever walked the earth
>Hey Ethan, I was wondering if you could give me a role in your next Oscar-winning drama
>No, but we'll call you when we do another one of our stupid comedies where you play a fricking idiot
His latest movie is a stupid comedy too. I think even male actors hit an age where they can only get shit roles; Look at Ryan Gosling.
Not true Cary Grant had his best roles with 45+
also Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Sean Connery.
Bogarts career as movie star started when he was 40.
Boomers like Robert De Niro no longer care and just act in comedies for easy money.
De Niro did come to mind when I was writing that. An actor I like (Ian McKellen) didn't become famous until he was old, and I just think old people roles are really limited. I watched his Sherlock Holmes movie, and it was very simplistic, as he's an old man.

Clooney suffered a TBI in 2005. Is it possible that this contributed to his limited range?
Oh, man. I didn't know about that. I never hated George Clooney anyway, and I just considered him B tier acting-wise, with A being the highest.
He's just a cool guy
Yeah, he's like Ryan Gosling. Does anyone think Gosling is the best actor ever? No, and they think he's solid. He has multiple good movies, which already puts you at the top.
>looks down while smiling
>quick chuff
>looks back up at person he's talking to while smiling
That's it. That's his whole gimmick
