Its trash, literally every plot point is a lie. They even lie about shit that is on camera and that everyone can look up, like when they changed the queen's guildhall speech and make her weep in public. Dominic West makes no attempt to imitate Charles' accent which is weird because the previous actor did try to sound like Charles.
It was always a soap opera but it's gotten way, way more soapy with Charles and Diana's relationship issues (but that was to be expected unfortunately). Actors are fine for the most part. Dominic West is completely miscast though and I think he knows it too.
Also several people that are still alive (and has the means to do so) has come out to debunk the show as complete fan fiction now, especially things that can be verified easily since they've now reached the more modern age. They should've stopped after season 2 when the most "outrageous" thing they wrote in the script was that Queen Elizabeth might have sucked off Philip in the castle when anyone could've walked in on them.
I watched previous season for Emma Corrin, wanted to marathon this for Debicki but shit is too boring, also Diana pisses me off this season for some reason
People are less forgiving with fiction when it's a story they already know or lived through. They got away with it previous seasons, but now it gets too distracting
It had to have come up during production meetings. "Should we have a in memoriam for the literal person the show is about?" Well, the show at least started about her. No idea why they didn't.

>Can’t do an American accent >Can’t do Prince Charles’s accent either
The first seasons were amazing, Foy and Smith absolutely killed it and after the change of actors I just lost interest. Vanessa Kirby was also prime coombait and I love Debicki but even she can't make me bother with the show. Also, Mcnulty being british hit me out of nowhere.
Doesn't feel like Philip. They seem to have gone for him in a more kindly grandfather role than the commanding presence and snappiness he had before. Pity they couldn't reuse Charles Dance.
The earlier seasons used the royal families relationship issues to events so it felt a lot less soap operish than what they're doing now. Plus the Crown was better when it was set in the distant past and covers areas the majority of people aren't familiar with. But everyone and their mother knows about Charles and Diana's marriage issues so the show is now just covering ground people know about. Even twitter seems to have gone off the show because its being sympathetic to Charles
Some decisions made in this season regarding the focus of the characters and stories are really bizarre. The Queen, Philip and Margaret feel like side characters. The episodes about the Al-Fayeds and the overlong intro about Romanov family felt very clumsy. They should have weaved them into the season better instead of dedicating entire episodes to it.

I was a little amazed that they didn't start the season off with a tribute to the queen

It is weird, but it may have been even weirder to put a tribute at the start given that the show just relentlessly shits on her
Even though I feel like they're kinder to her than any other member of the family, that was probably the reason yes.
Prince Charles, my office, now
>Can’t do an American accent

Fricked Lily James THO
no wonder he looks so smug all the time

I was massively turned off by the episode focused on the camel jockeys.
That was one of the good episodes though. Based Egyptian moron trying to become white with the help of his Black sidekick.
give somebody who is too lazy to google differences between the show and real life, some examples how it turns into fan fiction
MCNULTY, MY OFFICE
NOOOOOWWWW
Kstew Di mogs Debicki Di.
why anyone would want to see a fake drama about a royal family
All tv shows and movies are fake, bro.
Is Philip's new actor good?
It's Jonathan Pryce, so yeah, he's good. Looks nothing like Philip like Matt Smith and Tobias Menzies pulled off though.

Dance played Philip's father IIRC, so yeah they could've reused him but it would've been distracting.

The first 2 seasons are kino of the highest order. I lost interest after that.
