These are all like Star Wars but without the spirituality. That's what they're lacking.

well only jupiter ascending and that's a pve space battle

these, there's no soul or depth to the copycats. also only the top two in op are actual copycats, valerian and riddick are nothing like star wars and didn't even try to be.

There is a MENACE in the galaxy and only THE CHOSEN ONE could stop it, which all was written in the PROPHESY. Along with this, travel around the planets and doing action stuff. The only thing Riddick doesn't have is wacky alien species

Debatable. It takes place in the same universe as Pitch Black, also the Necromongers, Furians, and the Elementals.

the "spirituality" of star wars was literally the worst part about it. the force is based on buddism which is the most beta b***h religion there is. its all about inaction and apathy. when ever george needed luke to actually DO shit luke had to be 'tempted by the dark side'. If luke had actually followed the jedi way as written he would have fricked off to some deserted planet like in the latest trilogy.
      >death star rampages through the galaxy killing trillions upon trillions
      >luke shrugs and continues his self center, selfish path to "enlightenment" (i.e. destroying his own personality and individuality)

Star Wars is literally just Flash Gordon

lucas wanted to make a flash gordon movie originally but his pitch was turned down by every single studio he submitted it to. then he mixed flash gordon with akira kurosawa films (particularly the hidden fortress) and added a dash of arthurian legend and shakespeare drama and created "from the journal of the whills, the adventures of luke starkiller, chapter 1: the star wars", which was also turned down by every studio except 20th century fox, who thought it would be funny to see this piece of shit get made. further rewrites gave us the film we have today.

No one had faith in it, not even Lucas himself. It was a total surprise that it became such a huge hit.

            >No one had faith in it, not even Lucas himself.
there were precisely two people who were optimistic about the movie: gary kurtz and mark hamill. yeah everyone else expected it to bomb out of history, and james earl jones even had his name taken off to avoid any potential embarassment.

They all make the mistake of trying to make a story, instead of trying to make a toy commercial where the toys help brainwash kids into thinking the movie is the best thing ever made just because they grew up playing with the characters.

The target audience of these movies are all to small to justify the costs of the movie itself, Star Wars is unironically good because it was made for children unlike these movies that were made for Snyder manchildren, roasties, etc.

It’s made for kids but there’s still a good amount of depth to it. Perfectly crafted children’s stories with the right kind of mythological framework can have mass appeal across all age groups. Grimm’s fairytales, Treasure island, Peter Pan and the hobbit are other good examples of kid’s media that transcend their specific niche and capture a very broad audience.

George Lucas has that autistic soul that is present in all of his movies and clearly difficult to replicate. Star-Wars-like movies only seem to understand technical things about SW, while completely lacking what actually makes it tick

It's as simple as not being able to really catch lightning in a bottle again with that formula.

Sure, we've had tons of space and sci-fi related things since.. but the original Star Wars trilogy, even though borrowing immensely from things such as D&D, Flash Gordon, Westerns, Samurai films and Dune, all the influences came together to make something that carved its own way. I feel it's sort of the same conundrum with Lord of the Rings a bit, there's been nothing but failure for that universe beyond 2003.

those influences are for the most part purely visual, the story itself is basic.
