Because we're NOT seeing actual emotion. We're seeing people make over exaggerated un-proportionate responses to trivial stimuli. The emotion isn't the problem itself. The problem is any time anything happens people go from Zero to Vietnam crazy.,

peach was not mean, the interactions on screen are toddler toon tier, the israel stuff is fanfiction and the scared moment was not luigi's moment because after not being involved for the entire movie, luigi manning up and doing something would have been an asspull since there was no growth to lead to that moment; i'm not saying it's mario's either since that's also an ass pull in itself. this movie sucks, but not for the reasons you say.

I hate how glorified anxiety attacks are being, most zoomers and gen alpha don't know what a true anxiety attack is and try to threat it like this quirky personality trait, it's not a fun experience, it's been so bad for me I stop breathing, it's like my throat completely closes off while I desperately try to gasp for air until I get light headed enough that I stop tensing up

It feels unearned tbh. Like checking off a quota. Yes, i’m aware these characters are going through circumstances that are dangerous and they’re still human for having fear about said danger, but I can’t shake the vibe that most of these scenes exist because someone in a suit wanted these scenes.

Mario having a panic attack doesn’t feel relatable when it’s just been a 5/10 kids movie that’s only getting dough because it’s attached a profitable franchise. Tonally speaking it’s like mixing onions sauce and chocolate

I like The Last Wish’s use of it. Movie about death and overcoming fear of it where the protagonist fights the concept of death itself.
