Active duty morons hated Jarhead when it came out. I was in the Corps at the time. Movie was mostly hated because it's honeslty too grim. The protagonist achieves nothing. He wasted his time. But he also can't go back to being normal. He'll always be in that desert in the back of his mind. It's a genuinely haunting movie. It legit hit too close to home for a lot of guys I knew who were just too caught up in "the mission" and convincing themselves what they were doing had some kind of merit. The movie hits different after a completed tour.

It's crazy how many people got psyoped into joining the army from my high school class. Rural America, post 9 11, we were raised on a steady diet of "frick those Muslims" and these kids come back traumatized, wounded, dead, hooked on pills, whatever. Fricking disaster. Glad that zoomers seem immune to this.

    The military:
    >dipshit shitskin gang members getting trained so they can train the gang back home
    >dipshit Whites with no future who want to buy a truck with their signing bonus
    >dipshit everyone fresh from high school with a pregnant girl who realize they can simultaneously take care of the baby and never ever take care of the baby just by joining up
Zero fricks given, service members are morons and pussies

      >free healthcare
      >free housing and guaranteed salary while enlisted
      >free education if you want it
      >work experience in a multitude of valuable professions (most roles are non-combat related)
      >ample free time/vacation time
      >exotic travel if you want it
      >access to a built in nepotistic network of vets upon leaving
      >access to myriad benefits ie VA loans, discounts, preferential treatment, etc
      >boomers simp for you endlessly
The military is an objectively great deal. Infinitely better than the standard normoid life path of 4 years at university. Don’t be mad you missed out.

My nephew joined the marines last year and he got stationed in Hawaii. He fricking loves it.

The US has only lost 7k soldiers in 24 years in combat. There is no future war for the US in site unless you count the navy dropping hellfire missiles from drones onto houthis. This is the perfect time to join the military.

the west doesnt have civilians suffering from war anymore. they are detached from their own profit, and from the pain necessary to gain it.

therefore the only stories of suffering we have are the individual pawns used to push propoganda, further detaching civilians from the reality of their blood money, their stolen land. by framing the human story as that of the hired gun.
have any writers made a point about how blood is thicker than water but oil is thicker than blood? think im a bit late to make criticisms about american oil wars but it could still be relavent as a metaphor i guess. dont steal my poetry

The CIA involvement in the region is so ridiculous. From 1955 after the French left to the Fall of Saigon literally every ounce of heroin that left northern Thailand was routed through Vietnam on CIA aircraft, well, whatever wasnt flown out by the Corsicans anyway.

The CIA supplied the heroin that GIs were doing during the war. We put a president in place in Vietnam after the French exit only to murder him in a coup in 1963. Its almost like we fought a war in the region just so the CIA could continue selling heroin. Pretty funny stuff.

By the way if youre wondering why asians as a group are all dead soulless husks, its because their ancestors did nothing but smoke opium for 150 years.

The Politics of Heroin - Alfred W. McCoy, a book that the CIA tried to censor, and was successful at censoring during its initial publication. The book is meticulously researched and has over 100 pages of footnotes and a 60 page bibliography.

Anyone who served between the end of Vietnam and 9/11 barely did shit or it lasted like 1 week. The war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan lasted 20 years. There are people who deployed and were in wartime for an entire career. They entered during war and retired while the same war was going on.
