Why THE FUCK did they not expand on the universe of the fifth element?

Why THE FUCK did they not expand on the universe of the fifth element? I don't mean some lame sequel, I mean other stories inside this rich awesome universe that is so full of life and character.

    > In 2011 Besson said that he never planned a sequel and has no desire to make one

Not true, they had another 180 page script to make a sequel with a new cast, the reason the didn't was because it underperformed in America during a time when international tickets weren't seen as important despite the movie grossing 270m and being the 7th highest grossing movie of the year.

It's a perfect movie, better to leave well enough alone.

I'm not saying mess with the movie, I'm saying explore the universe you joyless cunt.

I'd like to see an anthology of short stories set in the city. Just crazy stuff that happens on a day-to-day basis.

For me it’s the blue haired receptionist for zorg. I have a bunch of her pics on my laptop she was a frog model.

        Exquisite taste.

Such a terrible movie. Dunno, the first 30 mins I was actually optimistic but there's just something repulsive about it.

It's kino, but the blue alien opera singer is scary.

Have you seen Heavy Metal? 80s animated film comprised of short stories, one of which involving a taxi driver rescuing a red haired girl which I'm sure influenced Fifth Element.

Yes, the animation of that had so much soul.

It's a spoof on sci-fi genre movies made into an actual plot.

And? It sets up some great world building and shows snippets of very cool lore, alien races, technology. The attitude of campiness and b movie aesthetic would be a great direction to lean into.

i thought it was a ripoff of moebius comics

        Anonymous

I don't know if you can call a "rip-off" if Moebius and Jean Claude Mezieres (Valérian and Laureline) worked on the film itself. They're even in the "making of" video.

That stuff is so good. A movie like T5E is way better than an adaptation, because that would just be a mess.

Go write some fan fiction. I don't wanna see a movie, though. We got a taste of what it would probably look like with City of a Thousand Planets. No thanks.

That doesn't mean anything if the movie is shit. Devil May Cry 2 had cool visuals and a great setting. It was a shit game. In fact, it quickly ascended to the Hall of Lame, which is the hall of fame for shit games. So, cool visuals don't mean shit to me if the movie is shit. I hope that's not too complicated for you.

It doesn't need to be expanded. Everything told in this story has a very definite material beginning and end. Exactly in tandem with the spiritual undertones and themes of the film. It's infinity extends within the minds of the viewers that still remember it. To create more is to take away from the whole, to distort and to replace with falsehoods. Only those with lower levels of consciousness, which is most people especially here, will be stuck in constant desire begging for an awakening. You don't need more, you need to reown what you already have.

Holy shit first year arts students are pretentious homosexuals. It is good to expand worlds of good fantasy, actually.

You can simply make a good movie or tv show within the beautiful and interesting setting, though. Hope that's not too complicated for you.

      >milk every property to death

      Who are you quoting?

Fifth Element was a rare gem and there is very little chance to strike with such a masterpiece twice.
Let it go and enjoy the movie and setting for what they are.
I personally think Fifth Element would be the most realistic looking future earth setting in any science fiction movies.
It's also the most cozy and charming.

Why should I let it go? As you said, it's cosy and charming, so what's the harm in wanting some more grounded stories in the universe, maybe some slice of life stuff? The answer is, there is none. For some reason pseudo-intellectual retards think they come off as the peak of intellectualism when they say something as baseline as " it was a well done experience that can be appreciated for what it was, there is no need to build on it" wow Aristotle himself must bow down to such big brain takes.

I'd like to see an anthology of short stories set in the city. Just crazy stuff that happens on a day-to-day basis.

The first guy in this thread who isn't a joyless homosexual.

You could do that, but Luc Besson fucking wouldn't, and he's proven it, vis a vis the example I've given, imbecile. You didn't say anything about it being good in the OP, either. You just said something that looks pretty. Because you're a homosexual, and don't know the difference between aesthetic and story.

I guarantee you that with such a femoid emotional reaction a new movie won't expand your level of awareness or consciousness if you cannot even comprehend what you've watched so far. Learn to stop being a mindless consumer, try to appreciate and understand the things you've been shown so far instead of being a slave to desire, thinking and reacting like a woman.

because your mind is better off by filling out things than having shit spelled out for you in a way that you will never be satisfied with anyway

There are plenty of examples of ficti9nal settings expanded beyond more than a single piece of media which are satisfying. Your position is surface level contrarian cynicism.

I don't think it was ever confirmed as the same universe. In fact the reason 5th element was made was because Besson couldn't get the rights for Valerian.

Now that I think about it, a prequel that focused on zorg would've been sick.
