That’s not true, it was diversity for diversity’s sake most of the time. The difference was they just wrote normal, interesting characters and then cast their token diversity actors, they didn’t make a big deal about the character being diverse, and they didn’t make diversity a focal point of the characters personality or the movies plot, themes, or advertising. Plus, not every movie had forced diversity so it was less noticeable.

Nowadays every movie has forced diversity and diversity is a focal point of the movies plot and themes, and character’s personality. It’s not just forced diversity in representation of main characters, it’s forced diversity in the advertising, extras, writing, fricking everything at every time in everything. It’s not just forced diversity anymore, it’s also pozzed and woke:

In the past some movies had forced diversity in representation, not a big deal who the frick cares. Nowadays every movie has forced diversity and they’re pozzed and woke as shit.

BULLSHIT! 90s was the decade of rampant tokenism. Minorities were everywhere but still very much kept in their place which was part of the reason it was still pretty inoffensive to white audiences.

But more over a female character was written strong but with imperfections. They were not written to be "THA BESTEST EVAR"

And a character was written to be a character with a purpose to the story not a caricature of a ethnicity to check mark off something from a list.

I think filmmakers being obnoxiously more loud and vocal about how they're putting diversity into films has poisoned the well of just doing it and leaving it at that. The people that were and continue to be the most vocal about it ruin it.

If you want the racist answer, its probably demographic changes. When you're a teen in the 90's and most of who you know are white, it's cool to advocate for the quieter marginalized voices. Decades later you're feeling more and more like a minority in your own country and it kinda sours it.

It wouldn’t have been a problem, I used to be completely onboard with multiculturalism but now that whites are down to 50% the media has all of a sudden ramped up a huge anti white propaganda campaign. We have the bbc teaching school kids that they must acknowledge their white privilege, then turn to channel 4 and they spend half their time reeing about an imaginary patriarchy that tells girls how to dress and the other half of their time telling white girls that they shouldn’t wear dreadlocks, fake tan or dance to hip hop music

Being a minority is an inherently vulnerable position to be in, and is less-desirable than being part of a demographic majority in a society. That remains true even where there is no racism directed at anybody.

Spend some time living in other countries where the dominant culture is not your own and you will understand there are naturally upsides & downsides to it, even if no one is racist to you.

            >So… we should do more to help and protect minority groups?
we already do plenty. The fact that they still feel they are the victims of racism when they clearly aren't is proof of my theory that people are just not ever really comfortable being minorities. Virtually all the studies into the effects of diversity point to it making people less-happy. See "Bowling Alone" by Robert D. Putnam for example.

            >Being a minority is an inherently vulnerable position to be in
            >inherently vulnerable position
            >vulnerable

            >None of that even means anything.
To you. If you were to spend some time in China you would understand that the dominant culture is Han Chinese. If a Han person moved to England they would understand quite clearly that the dominant culture is not their own.

bullshit. being a minority is a huge advantage if you aren't an idiot. why do you think so many white people pretend to be one?
Shawn King, Rachel Dozezal, Elizabeth Warren?
why do you think so many people former considered white like Linda Carter are like oh I'm Latina now. at least a third of Hispanics are in that category.

why retain minority status when you are basically white or why pretend to be a minority?
because it means benefiting from diversity hiring, it means getting preferential placement in college applications.

rando online saying means things vs actual real world economic benefits.

            >bullshit. being a minority is a huge advantage
It certainly can be in some contexts, and I didn't say it couldn't. You will concede however that people like Elizabeth Warren get to be both white AND a minority when they choose. That's called having one's cake and eating it too.

My point is about satisfaction. A young black girl growing up in a society where what most of the population find attractive is slim white girls is always going to be frustrated in a way she wouldn't be in a black African country where she doesn't have to constantly feel inadequate. A israelite growing up in a majority-Christian society is never going to feel entirely comfortable.

The 2nd part of my point is that these things will remain true even if the majority aren't trying to make the black girl and the israelite uncomfortable. It's just a natural byproduct of being a small minority living among a more homogeneous majority that is different.

Ultimately we must consider what humans are best suited to. We as a species evolved in tribes, for the most part. Are we really well-suited to very high levels of diversity? I don't see that we are. I see minorities expressing a great deal of frustration they feel due to being minorities, not because of genuine ill-treatment by whites, but because living in a society where most people are of a different tribe is inevitably frustrating in many ways.

That doesn't mean there also aren't some benefits, of course.

                minorities disagree
                >should not go out of the way to cater
we do. we (white people) fall over ourselves to try and make them comfortable. nowhere in the world would minorities be treated better and be given more opportunities than in western white-majority societies.

And yet they're still not happy, and if you scratch the surface of their complaints, underneath all of them is this: they wish they were the majority and that we weren't. Can anyone ever be truly satisfied being a minority? Looking around the world the evidence seems to suggest not.

That's why when people use that "what's wrong with whites becoming a minority, are minorities treated badly or something?" argument thinking it is some clever gotcha it is such bullshit. It doesn't prove whites mistreat minorities. It proves that despite whites falling over themselves not to mistreat minorities, minorities are still unsatisfied.

That's a choice and not innate, those are personal choices.
a manlet of any race feels inadequate because he's short. that's not something he can change, so should he coddled because he's a manlet?
being considered a victim because he feels inadequate?

A israelite can always go to Israel, they desperately want more israelites. If being in a Christian community is so traumatizing why be there?
making a stink about a community to neverendingly accommodate personal feelings of inadequacy just makes that community grow to hate you. It'd be like a Christian in Saudi Arabia demanding the daily call to prayer being stopped because it makes them uncomfortable.
lol I wonder how that'd go

the same goes for blacks, if living in society that values Western standards of beauty is so difficult, get over it. plenty of dysgenic and gorgon looking whites, just watch honey boo boo

sorry but someone's personal feelings of inadequacy means frick all nothing to me. grow up, life isn't fair.

you seem to be missing the intention of the post. I'm not saying I approve of their complaints. I'm saying they have them, and I don't see us / you / I being able to stop them.

If only it were as simple as "just get over it" or "frick off to Israel then" but it isn't. They won't just get over it, and they won't frick off to Israel.

Minorities who live in white majority societies are always going to envy our majority-status and resent us for it, in my estimation. A few of them individually may not, but enough of them will.

It's funny that IRL the manlet gets the least sympathy even though he's the one who can't change his circumstances at all.

It was incidental or secondary to the plot rather than being the key selling point in a rehashed, storyless pile of shit like it is today Today it is also shoed in to places where it is just ridiculous like period dramas and fantasy. In the 90s it was mainly cop dramas and sction movies.

Basically all left-wing racial politics are gaslighting.

Kinda a bad infographic, if a commercial has a crowd of 99 white Chads with a black Chad somewhere in the back, this would be counted in the first column.
Better to count everyone in the ad, or even better, % of ads with zero of (demographic) represented - given how allergic ads are to portraying to white men, would be a revealing number.

Don't be racist against them. Don't play their game. I knew many whites acting like Black folk too. Being a Black person is basically being a mindless gangster. I saw how things works. I saw many nice people I knew getting corrupted by the vile strains of the system while I grew. The media turned people into morons. The corruption assure they remained in ignorance and poverty. And I'm not even from US. Hate the origin of the problem instead. We all should unite and wake up for this truth. To see the actual group that is ruining our world. And there's also non israelites there too. /misc/ is a joke because they're dancing their song. It's not the way out. The 90s and 00s where the best years for the black people. Everyone loved Eddie Murphy, Wesley Snipes, Will Smith... They have incredible talent. See Morgan Freeman? Everyone loves the guy and he is 100% against those black movements or anything that puts blacks in a separated category, even the "blacks day/months" thing.
Everything became a mess after the Occupy Wallstreet when the israelites felt treated and saw the need of putting the people divided and against each other. Also remember when Malcon X denounced the israelites too. Black people can be good but it's the israelites who indoctrinates into being awful people by assuring they remain in poverty and ignorance. Frick the israelite media that can't stop running black people's culture since the 60's. Frick them for trying to ruin jazz, blues, soul, etc just to assure they only identify with gangster trash!

Because back then it was about ENTERTAINING the audience which is why those shows were soo good. But todays trash is only made for the soul purpose to attack white straight males. So everything is about "diversity", "representation" and "inclusiveness" which are the first words to come out of their mouths whenever a movie or TV show is made today which is their dog whistles as to say "we're going to make garbage just so that when you criticize it we can call you names like the infants we are". Also that white main characters be competent and beautiful rather than torn down to make non-whites look better.

For all this talk about "forced diversity" has there even been one instance of a film that would have otherwise been great being ruined by unnecessary diversity? This is not really an issue for me but then again I don't watch Star Wars, Marvel, Disney Animation, Harry Potter, soulless cash grab remakes/revivals, Amazon Studios fantasy garbage etc. Of course if you see shit like that you're going to get a film that was cast by the marketing team for maximum return on investment. I'm struggling to see how "diversity" is the issue with picrel. If you swap out every nonwhite actor in all of these films you still have a bunch of garbage. It doesn't get any better when you scroll down and the few original films that aren't garbage have mostly appropriate casting.

Because diversity was not a social issue. The current paradigm is a construction fueled by how the media chooses to highlight racial and sexual attributes and sustained by how social media algorithms work. Back in the 90`s people didn`t really care about those things as long as the movie was good. It`s like Morgan Freeman says, stop talking about it. You stop thinking of skin color and start thinking as the others as just people and that`s that.

Back in the day individual perception was more highly valued. Off course companies benefit far more from the current reductive paradigm of tokenism. They can blame any failure on racism or misogyny rather to on the actual quality of any given piece of media and have reduced minorities to thick boxes. Quotas have to be one of the most racist and sexist behaviors out there and it baffles me how some people can`t see it or think it is ok.
