It wasn't pushing any agenda. They just made a fun adventure movie like we used to get all the time.
It was shit because there were clearly multiple executives with very different ideas of what the movie should be pulling it in different directions, most notably with the high school parts dragging on way too long

I'll be first to admit that chick is cute as frick, but it's not just physical. Why do you think feminist c**ts always get pissy when men tell them they should smile more? It makes a woman tenfold more attractive, because sweet innocent optimism is the opposite of jaded prostitute with a thousand wiener stare. It's a natural, pleasing and attractive feminine trait the shitty culture they're trying to create is completely devoid of. So it is blinding as the rising sun when you do finally see it. One of the major reasons Boxxy BTFO'd Cinemaphile back in the day, and to a lesser extent ponies later on.
But as perfect casting and performance as that was, she wasn't the only good thing about the film itself. That movie, regardless of any imperfections and shitty CGI that would normally be annoying as frick, is just good G-rated fun. Sure you got Dad-joke tier gags, but it's upbeat and some of the story and sets are surprisingly good. I'd say the temples and traps give the new Tomb Raider a run for their money in terms of cool factor.

When I heard they were making it I just rolled my eyes, because just another bottom of the barrel IP they're going to try to exploit because they couldn't get the movie rights to Candy Crush or something.
