    >pit 3 of the protags against each other, only to do a switch-up where there are suddenly no stakes and nobody cares about the plot
    >the three head demons were on the road to being good characters, but, again, nothing was done with any of them
    >ditch the other protag for the entire arc
    >demon world is ugly and boring
    >literally just dark tournament but not even half as compelling

    No Kuwabara

This. Kuwabara is the heart and soul of the show.

It was h by far the weakest but it was still fun as shit. Kuwabara got shafted way too hard but it was unavoidable. Spirit detective is still the best arc on the whole however

It was total bullshit how Toguro was deemed only a B class demon when they introduced that classification system. Definitely should have been an A. I can buy there being one class still higher than him, but not two.

    >quickly devolves into endless laser beam fighting tournaments
Why are they all like this?

I only really remember the really enthusiatic catgirl who mc-ed the fights, that the ginger was the last redhead in fiction that was a bro and not a creepy ginger and the blue haired e-girl ghost everything else about this show seemed awesome a long time ago but now is incredibly mid and definately not shiny and chrome

In what way was botan a frickin e-girl? What a moronic take

The fact that you remember her name and cared enough to cry about this suggests that you are also quite mid

If anyone would know what a transexual types like it would probably be the person who starts crying when you forget the name and age of a blue haired anime girl

Botan's not a e-girl but she's younger than I thought of her when I was a kid. apparently she's suppossed to look 14.

      It's shounen.
They drag them out to sell comics and toys to 4 year olds.

      >tournament arc
I swear this is the only theme shounen authors are capable of writing about.
DUDE WHAT IF ALL THE CHARACTERS GET IN AN ARENA AND THROW HADOUKENS AT EACH OTHER FOR 45 VOLUMES!!!!

I can never get past the first season of this anime, does it actually get better or is this it

Depends on how much you like tournaments and other forms of generic shonenshit

The first arc is kind of all over the place in terms of quality. Like you have the episodes where he's a ghost which are cool, but then you have all of these mini-arcs which start off promising and get progressively worse as they go on ending in some unbelievably moronic asspull climax
However the second arc of the show is widely considered the best tournament arc in anime
The third arc is also strong, but has a very bad ending
The fourth arc starts off good, but ends abruptly because the creator got tired of writing the manga

Part of me thinks it's kind of kino how it sets up this intriguing political arc and then just takes the piss and says frick it we're doing a tournament, and the takes the piss even further and says actually frick that he sleeps through the whole tournament

It kind of astonishes me how there is so much complete bullshit in YYH, but somehow none of it made its way over to HxH. Like the only complaint I have with HxH is that around a volume worth of fat could be trimmed from the start of the chimera ant arc

      >It kind of astonishes me how there is so much complete bullshit in YYH, but somehow none of it made its way over to HxH

The story that goes around is that Togashi was forced by his editors to chage a bunch of things in yuyu hakusho (more fights, more romance, keiko showing up more) and to continue the manga after the dark tournment arc. Togashi said he would be willing to continue making yyh if they'd give him full control over his next manga. This is hxh is the way it is , no girls, full is transgenders, gore, hiatus and so on

Togashi always run out of ideas and gets lazy when it isn't perfect in his mind. It's why HxH gets haitus for years. He's a serial procrastinator.

Was this a tweet? I'm honestly disappointed he thinks that. I think the current arc is the absolute best he's written in HxH.

I'm going to fricking say it. I liked the last arc, and got very emotional when it concluded how it did. Nearly melancholy, the fact Yurameshi's strength may not be as comparable on his own anymore. It is a vast ocean of fighters and he is a drop in a bucket.
