Remake tends to refer to remake of a film. It needs to be in the same medium for the term to apply. Like you wouldn't call the Hotman film a remake of the game no matter how much it deviated. It's an adaption.
Good ideas and decent performances from Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton, but the overall execution was bad and Joel Kinnaman is a black hole of charisma. I understand they were going for a different take where Murphy is aware of his transformation from the beginning, but if that was going to be the case, why did we waste so much screen time in his human form. That whole it could have been incorporated into the robot sections. Hell, original did it with a flash back sequence of him going to his old house. Short, simple, effective. We found out everything we needed to know about his personal life in that sequence. Then we get some useless ass scenes like the training scene that doesn't really serve any purpose.
The body horror stuff was cool though. Oh, and it's PG-13
>Why was the remake so bad?
Because remakes are made by people, who at some point decided "hey, I really like this thing! Except 90% of it is shit, and I can do it better". There is no love, just ego.
I remember one anon summarizing the issue really well.
Basically it's the inversion of the first movie's message. In the OG Murphy regains his humanity gradually while in the remake he starts off relatively human but is degraded and dehumanized by the end of the movie.
It probably wasn't intentional but that's just make it more cynical and expected because that's what soulless corporate board room meetings produce in comparison to singular auteurs with vision.
Devs really wrote a love letter to the IP with this game. They had more respect to the Robocop as a character than the actual sequels, comics and the remake.
People should unironically hire (competent) fans instead of deconstruction scam artists.
Only thing is that I hate that it's FPS and not over the shoulder 3rd person while I would have liked an open city to explode and even be able to get the jetpack and fly around!!!FACT!!!
kys tripfag. they've been trying to get a sequel out since 2014, but the cast and crew kept working on other things while rebellion refused to fund another movie. serious talks about a tv continuation only began back around 2018 and was promptly delayed and more likely killed due to covid.
You homosexuals love the old robocop because it reminds you iron man. That'd why the remake failed it dropped the same time as an Rion man movie and plebs automatically thought robocop was ripping off iron man.
>You homosexuals love the old robocop because it reminds you iron man.
You got MCU brain rot. You should get that fixed. No one gave a shit about Iron Man before the movies.
It was not.
R1 = Great
R2 = Good
R3 = Decent
Remake = Decent to Good
>3
>decent
You're pulling my leg! It's nearly as bad as the TV series.
If you're just too retarded to see through corporate meddling and realize it's a great film, that's your problem.

>R3 = Decent
Ah, a consoomer opinion.
It wasn't terrible, just mediocre. It lacked Paul Verhoeven's disdain for humanity and sense of humor.
remake was decent but it shouldn't have been PG-13
You can't make a PG-13 Robocop movie.
The remake was made to discredit one of the biggest Brazilian directors. This was the goal of the remake.
qrd?
remakes are made by people without artistic vision, all they can do is make poor copies.
Fucking zoomer...
Apocalypse Now (1979)
The Thing (1982)
Scarface (1983)
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
True Lies (1994)
12 Monkeys (1995)
The Mummy (1999)
The Thomas Crown Affair (1999)
Ocean's Eleven (2001)
Vanilla Sky (2001)
Casino Royale (2006)
The Departed (2006)
Also The Fly and Cape Fear
Are any of those remakes of earlier movies?
Book to movie != remake
Great bait
They all are
>12 monkeys
Was that a remake of some europoorian slop?
Apocalypse Now and 12 Monkeys weren't remakes. Casino Royale was originally a parody film so not really a remake. More a proper adaption of the book.
Apocalypse Now altered enough of the original book to be considered a remake rather than an adaptation.

There were two Casino Royale movies prior to Craig. One was a made for TV movie, the other was a parody.
Wrong picture.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
The Blob (1988)
Night of the Living Dead (1990)

They made Murphy talk like a nagger for one
It also lacked Verhoeven's visual wit, pathos, and intelligence. Fuck, it lacked everything.
Verhoeven's uses mirrors as motif in its entire runtime.

How did they get Peter weller but not Nancy Allen to come back to do a voice ?
small indie studio please understand
That seems reasonable. They did a good job on the property

Is that one of those mongol girls I’ve heard so much about
They remade robocop?

When I was younger I thought this was based on a real story and america was really like this
America really is like that. Minus the competent robot cop.

They didn't learn any lessons from Dredd
>They didn't learn any lessons from Dredd
WHY HAVEN'T THEY MADE A LIMITED TV SERIES SEQUEL TO DREDD FOR NETFLIX OR SOME OTHER STREAMING SERVICE?!?FACT!!!

I wouldn't even call it a remake or reboot, apart from the name it shares more in common with something like ghost in the shell

Robocop's fuck all like Oron Man in the first place. They're not even tangentially related.
