I don't think it was unpopular.
how should I know? I've never even heard of this
The series peaked at Season 5 and never returned to that level of quality and consistency.
Season 6 is the worst season because it's incredibly lazy and boring and the majority of it feels like retreaded plot points and filler. It has some great moments and has one of the better season endings (right up there with S1 and S3), but it's a chore to rewatch, even just to laugh at how stupid it is.
The first half of Season 7 and the second half of Season 8 are solid but the pace is so quick and the supporting characters are weak and irritating (all of the FBI except Rene, all of CTU except Chloe) and the writing is really spontaneous and inconsistent (24: Redemption being completely pointless, Saunders consistently sabotaged with shitty dialogue that comes out of nowhere, never clear if Samir knew the Russian conspirators, everything about Dana, second half of Season 8 feeling improvised) . Live Another Day dealt with the same pacing/inconsistency issues and it was only 12 episodes.
24: Legacy had an interesting idea but no one cares if it's boring, and 24: Legacy was fricking boring
That being said, I enjoy every season (except Legacy) and am currently rewatching them.
Dammit, swap out Saunders for CTU Director Brian Hastings. I really wanted to like Mykelti Williamson, he's great within his last episodes but the majority of his run is full of dickhead moves without better justification{/spoiler]
Season 6 was a writer's strike casualty, they had to recycle a subplot from the 24 PS2 game
i have nostalgic feelings for season 6, although it is one of the weaker seasons, but I liked it a lot more than 8. thought season 7 was great and one of the rare times a later season of a network show returned to form
Season 8 has Robojack and that alone makes it better than 6.
Yes - one of the greatest holy shit moments on TV
Please explain "robojack." I watched 24 with my mom growing up but I don't remember this piece.
I think they're referring to this scene where he kidnaps Logan
I liked it when they do the same exact scene in Fate of the Furious.
YES. Jack tooled up to the max in full revenge mode.
What the frick it was never in the shadows you absolute baboon
>never popular
the frick? radio hosts, tv shows and many online forums wouldn't shut the frick up about it during in the mid 2000s you apocalyptic zoomer.
Hell, I remember the watchalong threads each week on Fark.
CHLOE
SHE SHURFIFE?
>never popular
WUT?
>full-blown alcoholic in his free time
>the epitome of professionalism on-set
24 was one of the most popular and acclaimed shows of the 00's what the frick are you talking about
>never popular
the first 3-4 (5?) seasons it was normie watercooler show, they all watched it
It was boomslop before boomslop was a thing.
You're beneath boomslop. The writing and action and suspense have never been equaled among these types of shows. Only a couple shows of any genre are as high IQ - maybe ER, Law & Order, couple others
It was hard to like Chase when he always made the wrong decision and couldnt even handle the bad guys when it counted. The classroom scene was good but for the wrong reasons, Chase got what he deserved. I would have liked to see him redeem himself but we never saw him again and he was killed by some random bikers in one of the novels and no one cared
It was the most popular show of its time zoomer moron
>Why was this series always in the shadow and never popular,
Are you moronic are just really young? It was the number one show when it aired.
Got tired of
>"There is a mole!"
>"Somehow the terrorist got away from being completely surrounded."
ironically the 24-hour format would often work against the show because they'd often have to pad for runtime. Teri wandering around with amnesia and Kim being menaced by a mountain lion before being held hostage by Johnny Drama was just all bullshit to fill time because they were committed to 24 episodes a season
Day 9 is one of the best seasons because it's only 12 episodes. There is minimal bullshit, the plot moves around at a nice clip but still has enough time to breathe between the major sub-arcs, and ends strong.
Lol, you know what? I forgot the 24 real time gimmick was even a thing for this show. Yeah, it never made sense and no one else tried it again.
Still, the filler storylines were rarely a major problem in the show. Teri's amnesia was but that was understandable since they basically finished the season halfway through in case it got cancelled, Kim in second season was god awful but I dont remember other instances of this. From what I remember seasons 3-5 and 7-8 were pretty tight, 6 was awful anyway
Season 6 was the season Jack killed the most people. Something around 60 or so. In the span of 1 day that is just impressive.
Yeah, apparently it was 52 kills but he had 39 kills in LAD which is even more impressive
There were one or two episodes with him on an oil rig and an MP7 so I think the bulk of the killing happened there.
And much of this came from him running an absolute train on Cheng Zhi's secret lair in the span of 3 minutes. Real Beekeeper shit.
19 kills in one episode, 15 of those in three minutes. LAD had some great moments
24 was hugely popular you dumb frick
Me and my dad used to watch this show together all the time. It was kino.
All I remember from watching 24 as a kid is Jack Bauer tying guys down and yelling:
>WHO DO YOU WORK FOR?
chokehold
>shh... don't fight it...
>shh... don't fight it...
Even Big Boss says it in MGSV. Kiefer just can't help himself.
This was pure post 9/11 kino and I loved it, season 2 and 3 were peak. Should have ended after season 6 though really.
I rewatch the series every couple of years with my wife. Jack Bauer is fricking psycho! He kills almost 400 people throughout.
Season 4 and 5 were amazing, season 3 was shit. I think people slept on 24 as it came out around the same time as kinos like Sopranos and Lost.
>Thinking season 3 was shit with Chase as Robin to Jack's Batman and that incredible moment in the classroom
>THEY'RE SHOOTING AT US!!
It was a huge hit. It constantly won the night and often won the week.
Zoomers think longwinded thinkpieces and wikis mean a show was popular in its time
It was a top rated show for several seasons and was nominated for best drama and won. It always had to go up against the West Wingkgjv
It was wildly popular and watercooler talk when it was airing.
Greatest TV drama of all time. Don't get me started.
They did him dirty with S8, even though it was still good
>S7 ends with him finally getting to do things his way without superiors shutting him down (even got to go on a rampage on russians with no repercussions), he btfos his nemesis so bad he sudokus in shame, and then he wanders off into the sunset with absolute freedom and you can fill in the blanks from there
>S8 shows up and gives the only living top 5 character dementia, kills the entire family of Jack's one friend (who turned into a 50 year old goth), kills Jack's last surviving waifu (good riddance) and then ends with him being thrown in a hole in siberia
You're off by one. Those are season 8 and LAD.
As a zoomer I have to say it's a really good show, I never got to watch it since I was too young when it was airing
also the 2nd season is better than the 5th, idc what anyone says
correct order is
2 = 5 > 3 > 1 > 4 > 8, 6, 7
So far I'd say it and True Detective Season 1 (I'd personally consider each season of TD it's own show) are probably the best TV shows of the 21st century
Thank you my friend. I thought I was all alone in having season 2 as my favorite.
2 > 4 > 1 > I forgot the rest of my order >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 6
Season 2 is too over the top for me to not enjoy it
I personally wouldn't rate 4 that high
I think it def had the most threatening antagonist, but the climax wasn't bombastic enough to live up to the rest of the season
I rate season 1 pretty high due to Dennis Hopper
LAD>4>3>8>Redemption>2>1>5>7>6
Love me some 24
>are some of the seasons absolute shite?
Season 6. They had the golden opportunity to cast Donald Sutherland as Bauer's father and instead we got stuck with James Cromwell.
I still can't believe they didn't do this. Someone should have gone to prison for fricking this up.
I thought they tried but Donald didn't want to do it
They did that forgettable cowboy movie together after 24. Why does Donald hate true kino?
He thought the character was shit and didn't want to play an irredeemable dad who wants to kill his son
He knows it's just pretend right? Did they not explain it to him?
>there are morons who don't think season 4 is best
>mfw
First things that come to my mind about season 4 are that c**t of a ctu director and the dumb subplot with her daughter
>when you nut but she keep succin
If you asked me what the objective best was it'd be 4, but it's my subjective #2. Probably because all 3 of my favorite characters were already dead by then
>lead actor has a kino name like Kiefer Sutherland
>they name his character Jack Bauer
could've just gone for Johnny America
>GOAT villain
>actor dies the same day as tony sirico so nobody gives a frick
>this was a cartoonishly evil russian puppet president in 2010
can't even hold a candle to reality
season 1 is best season
