I’m rewatching the show but growing up CN can have some realistic situations that didn’t sugar coat for kids.

        >okay but how many timed do they need to show that exact shitty situation

I’ve heard in this forum that it’s basically confirmed the show writers started taking their IRL issues and implementing them into the show.

John K doesn’t have daddy issues. He gives people daddy issues.

The Hell are you talking about? Damn near everyone in the workplace called out his daddy issues, it’s even in books.

Because it was written by a bunch of loser millennials with daddy issues due to the US being practically a single mother country.
They even made one up for freaking Jake lmao, that was ridiculous

this is one of the reasons I liked Star Vs, for all its faults, at least the dads were always good guys.

or like, usually. Ludos dad was a piece of shit but all the other dads were great.

Good, we also need to spread simp-shaming, they're the ones that allow women to do whatever they want without any punishment

"shitty dad" is one of the oldest literary tropes in all of fiction

All dads are shit dads in these shows.
And it's not because the writer's dads are all shit.
It's because the writers are still rebelious children and don't want to be parents
Also it's an unstated thing that fathers have to be bad because good male representation is sexist and misogynist or something.
Or maybe it's easier to manipulate the viewers by not creating decent adult male representation.

There were only two though. Unless you count Jake which was absolutely 100% NOT his fault. He had only one day to try, and nobody's perfect on their first day.

Bad dads include Martin (after he got brain damage), Flame King, Hunson (before he got some character development) and Jake's shapeshifting alien dad who appeared in one episode towards the end so everyone forgets him. And Jake himself kinda.
Not bad dads includes from what I can remember Lady Rainicorn's dad and The Duke of Nuts, Kim Kil Whan. If you include father figures in general, then Simon should count too.
Debatable are Joshua and I guess Peacemaster. Joshua overall leans good dad, he raised Finn to be a good adventurer, but in Dad's Dungeon came across as too hard on baby Finn. If you take into consideration that dogs age much faster than humans, Joshua might have not known it takes Finn longer to grow up so assumed he was acting immature for his perceived age when he was still a little kid. Peacemaster on the other hand cared for his children and at worst is just a jerk who arguably was the good guy in his episode.

i forgot about Flame King but he doesn't count because their whole entire species is evil besides Falme Princess. It's not his fault his daughter was born with some rando mutation that made her good which goes against his entire nature and the nature of the whole kingdom. Like what was he supposed to do when ever single piece of dna in his body is 100% evil? Like no shit he's bad.

I also forgot about the shapeshifter thing but he was like a monster. And yeah Marceline's is a monster too. Idk if these things should even count.
        >simon father figure
Bullshit. He never was and never will be.
        >joshua
Kys! He's the perfect fricking dad! Die!

Hey I said in my post I thought Joshua was a good dad. People just might try arguing he was bad because of how he was portrayed in Dad's Dungeon. But I overall think he was reasonable considering he didn't necessarily have knowledge that Finn literally was aging slower compared to his brothers and wasn't just a moron crybaby.

He wasn't portrayed bad in that episode you lying fricker.
