Why was this so much better then any toy cartoon from the 1980s and arguably any other cartoon series from that time period?

Because 80s Marvel was involved in the behind the scenes production and veteran coMic writers wrote a lot of the scripts?
Because no other show had an ass as fine as Cobra Commander's. America just couldn't look away.
That was America's ass!
No, it was Cobra-La's all along.
No, they're just creepy evil twins. One of them had an obvious crush on Lady Jaye.
If one of them orgasmed inside Lady Jaye, would the other one cum too?
Implying they wouldn’t be doing an Eiffel Tower on Lady Jaye
Do you think they both yell "COBRAAAAA" in unison as they cum inside her?
I always liked Transformers, G.I. Joe, and later got into Jem which I was surprisingly into
>Jem which I was surprisingly into
Jem is a real sleeper of a hit. I love the misfits. The show is a lot more enjoyable when you watch to see how many crimes the misfits can commit and somehow avoid jail
Yeah, actually watch the first couple of seasons on Tubi, and it was surprisingly good. Misfits also had easily the best songs.
>best cartoon from the 80s
Transformer fans rally cannot watch their shows objectively can they?
I always thought they was gays
No they're just twins. Cobra Commander and Zartan were the gay ones. People always think it's CC and Destro, but nah Destro was fricking that Baroness booty. CC and Zartan absolutely got down with each other though.
The pilot/mini-series that kicks it off is fricking awesome. But it tanks in quality after that. Still fun, but not nearly as good - consistently. This and Transformers fight for the #1 contender.
>The pilot/mini-series that kicks it off is fricking awesome. But it tanks in quality after that.
The individual episodes vary in quality, but there are four 5-episode sagas in the original cartoon, they're all worth watching. I enjoy Pyramid of Darkness and Arise Serpentor Arise more than the earlier 2 mini-series.
>The individual episodes vary in quality, but there are four 5-episode sagas in the original cartoon, they're all worth watching.
Of the individual eps, "Skeletons in the Closet", the one with Mara the genetically-engineered Cobra Eel and its follow-up "There's No Place Like Springfield" are all superb.
Pic unrelated, but Baroness spent that entire episode in a bikini.
... don't know how I clicked such a wrong pic.
You could probably make a whole list of episodes that are worth watching just for what the Baroness is wearing. Cobrathon springs to mind.
>war vulture
Such a badass
It is until you remember that vultures aren't predatory. It would make more sense if the guy just waited around for the other soldiers to die and then stole their stuff.
That's how Destro's army was supposed to operate. It was a social commentary thingie.
It'd be interesting if some story had another branch of the US military, or a close ally, end up buying products from Destro and the Joes being stuck having to use IG equipment
I forgot about that
I wonder if they got a tax write off from teh US military to make GI Joe. That would explain why the season 1 animation for GI Joe was better than the season 1 animation for Transformers.
I don't think they did; they don't use actual military hardware;all the big vehicles are original designs for copyright reasons. Gi Joe was probably just easier to animate that Transformers, which had a frick ton of models with different shapes and proportions
It's too bad G.I. Joe didn't get a fondly remembered 90's reinvention like Transformers did
Also, anyone know why Hasbro's youtube channel specifically always streams episodes of G.I. Joe?
Easy babysitter option
Makes more sense for the other shows Hasbro has like Transformers, Power Rangers and [REDACTED]
You know Cobra actually got all the money they needed with Cold Slither before G I Joe stopped them. They actually won and left G I Joe to clean up the mess.
It's a shame that people in the internet discard everything made in the 80s because muh dark age of animation. The people working on these shows made their best effort during a strong conservative wave and toy companies's meddling but their effort is ignored.
70s was a worse era, people just shit on the 80s because a lot of it was toy-sales driven. People often forget that the 70s was filled with cheap Scooby clones, and the 90s were just as toy driven.
Why does he do it for me bros
The best part of that clip is that until Scarlet and Lady Jaye are shown you could swear that's a Tracks episode on Transformers.
>you could swear that's a Tracks episode on Transformers.
100% lol. Underrated post.
80's kino
the openings and credits for all the seasons were fricking solid

The writers were Vietnam vets.
You’ll never get military vets writing for cartoons nowadays
I loved "The Viper is Coming", whole episode is a setup for an obvious joke but it was a fun and memorable ride.
actually one of the more realistic parts of the show
a top-rate spec ops unit going apeshit over a potential attack that never arrives because 'military intelligence' is the most consistent oxymoron in history
>a top-rate spec ops unit going apeshit over a potential attack that never arrives because 'military intelligence' is the most consistent oxymoron in history
Does that happen in the military alot? People going crazy over nothing like that?
in the cold war at least there was at least more than a few examples of people on both sides losing their marbles because of false information/warnings that implied the other side was about to start WW3 basically
off the top of my head i can't think of any 'localized' examples but the whole 'military intelligence' thing is a legit oxymoron that people made for the sake of irony and poking fun
and it was used again in Animaniacs
Can GI Joe defeat him?
