Boring cast with less chemistry and reimagining modern life in the stone age is more funny than just setting it in the future.

Flintstones was Honeymooners which was a successful sitcom.

Jetsons didn't base itself off of an existing popular comedy and didn't have the longevity

Flintstones was based on a long running sitcom, Jetsons was based on nothing

I do wonder why they did not try to adapt a series like HB did plenty of times in the past. They could have tried Doby Gillis or My Three Sons...in the future

The Jetsons only "life in the future" joke was everything being done by pushing a button. You can't take it anywhere further.

Fred is a construction worker, you feel for him when he wants to skip work and go have fun and adventures. And being a house wife is also stressful, you feel for Wilma when she complains. But George presses a button for just a few hours and complains about how stressful his job is, you don't feel for him when he tries to skip work for fun/adventures. And you don't feel for Jane either since she just presses a button for a huge feast and has a robot maid on top of that. Plus George doesn't have his own Barney to have schemes with, he's friendless and boring. This all makes Jetsons less interesting than Flintstones.

Oh god it's literally liberals v. Conservatives

But also Fred Flintstone is one of the greatest characters ever and George Jetson is not.

everyone outside of Rosie was kind of bland or annoying, they didn’t have any real issues thus nothing to bounce off of for comedy. This is coming from someone that doesn’t care for flintstones too but even the kids and pets had some focus

Yeah George is weirdly a loner. Did Jane have any friends? I think the kids have friends but are probably throwaways like Janie for Lisa simpson

Isn't that basically the modern office worker?

They still have to type up stuff, be it code or papers. George's only job IS pressing ONE button.

      George has no Barney Rubble

George kind of was the sidekick in the hijinks. He was Spacely's minion when he cooked up a scheme.

Reimagining modern life in the Stone Age is a more timeless concept than reimagining modern life in what people in the 1960's thought the future would look like.

The future is grimer as time goes by. It no longer is fun to wander what away for us.

Because it had like 3 seasons: the original ones from the late 60's and then the ones from the 80's. The tone change between those two was notorious, alienating the original fanbase and making the series one of the hundreds more that came out during the 1980s.

You can disagree but the Jetsons had a better aesthetic and art style compared to Flinstones.

No one wants to watch a bunch of rich buttholes with better lives than us.

Fry Futurama's life sucked balls, and going into the future didn't drastically make his life easy. He still had to work and improve himself.

The Jetsons was frustrating to watch.
Every episode was George getting into some kind of jam with his boss and you cringe while waiting for everything to go shit.

Despite its setting, the Flintstones was a relatively grounded series at first with the focus being on interpersonal relationships and family situations that regular viewers could relate to.

The Jetsons, on the other hand, pretty much had an extremely high class lifestyle with relatively few problems. Sure, George was always getting threatened with being fired but it also felt like an empty threat since the Jetsons never had that living paycheck to paycheck vibe the Flintstones did. Slate firing Fred felt like it would ruined that family.

This is also why the later seasons of the Flintstones are pretty forgettable with basically everybody hating the Gazoo element.

The 70's version with the grown up Pebbels and Bamm Bamm and the frankestein-like neighbor was concentrated shit.

Because the Jetsons had no friends to interact with.
