Dragonball is comfy for the adventure aspect of it and goku isn't the most powerful being yet so there are still challenging fights not to mention the martial arts tournament has jackie chun and krillin is still relevant. Dragonball Z just pushed it into the direction of battle shounen anime and it was more about big villains and big face offs and training to learn special techniques to win fights. They brought back the adventure aspect of it in GT and that was what I liked about it.
