What does Hollywood even mean? Does The Northman count? because that was good. One movie a year, I guess.

Well you see, there are these ~~*studios*~~ in a place called Los Angeles...
As for the Northman, I liked it but bogged Kidman kinda ruined it for me.

It didn't ruin it for me because the character was evil. Spoiler warning for the webm.

TG Maverick was good but Cruise has one or maybe two kinos left in him at most

That's why there was a time called the Golden Age of Hollywood (Sturges, Lubitsch, Capra, Ford, McCarey, Huston, Hitchwiener...) because a handful of very powerful studios regularly pumped out reliably great movies.
Today studio movies are reliably trash (capeshit, sequels, etc.) and occasionally an independent movie gets made which is noteworthy.

no, the coming economic crash will have major societal implications, that among other things, will spell the end of Hollywood and celeb culture

How do you think the crash will manifest? Won't it mean that those who profited from the corrupt system will lose their ill-gotten gains and then new blood will be able to come in an replace them?
The US financial system is extremely unstable but so is virtually every other country's financial system. Basically what are we "crashing" in comparison to?

It won't be so utopian, one set of douchebags may be ousted but another set will move in. We will struggle in poverty for years, however it will force us to rebuild our communities and (ordinary) people's priorities will change from vapid nonsense to their own and each others' welfare.

The economic system the world has had since 1945 is collapsing in on itself. Every industry that relies on stable global trade will undergo an extreme change. Dozens of big companies that are household names to you, me, and everyone in this thread will go bankrupt.

Politically, we’re going to see the kinds of things that happened during the Arab Spring of 2010/2011 this time happen to the entire world, with varying degrees of severity.

If you’re in a developed country, you’ll see 40% unemployment and you’ll hear about some politician/media figure/businessman getting killed and then you’ll be able to watch the video of it here like when Qaddafi or Shinzo Abe got killed.

I think the average IQ difference between those Arab countries and American whites might present a problem for this comparison. A modern technological society like the US, while bloated and corrupt, isn't likely to break down into barbarism anytime soon.

Sure, just as the enlightened Western European powers who had seen the springtime of nations just 60 years prior (a more functional and intelligent society than ours mind you) could not possibly have indulged in World War 1, the 4 year orgy of violence that every fit young man was forced to take part in.

A fair point, but there's a very clear reason why WWIII hasn't happened, because all the world super powers have nukes. Not as much fun to wage war as a leader when you yourself can get engulfed in the retaliation blast.

If they would produce (1) of the 5 great scripts I have, I could singlehandedly save the industry. But it seems like they'd rather double down on moron and keep hiring low IQ women and minorities who pretend to be writers.

They need to hire more poc people, or make comedian as hosts with pretty much copy pasted jokes, or have the winners have their 2 to 5 mins long of political western agenda propaganda speech.

That will surely put the views up.

The only thing entertaining at Hollywood award shows the past 20 years has been Ricky Gervais. You could call the Will Smith slap entertaining, but that was more like watching a wildlife documentary.

Jews invented kino. But they also need high IQ Whites to write/direct. They thought they could replace them with diversity/nepotism hires and collect the social justice brownie points, but now they're seeing the reality of IQ and competence hierarchies.

Hollywood actors and actresses are unironically getting uglier and uglier. Say what you want about Harvey Weinstein, but at least he knew what a good looking women should look like.

Meanwhile, Sony wants us to believe the current Spiderman and Mary Jane are not average looking as frick.

The world doesn't need Hollywood anymore and they know it. They were our entertainment provider for the longest time, but they have competition now with an infinite amount of entertainment and so many different kinds of it.

Hollywood is going the way of Blockbuster.

Compared to what? No other shithole country is going to produce the kino. The problem as I see it is, the industry has shut its doors to new talent. It's not a coincidence that back when Shane Black, Eszterhas and Tarantino types were breaking in and being paid handsomely, movies were a helluva lot better off. The 70s new wave with Scorsese, Coppola, and De Palma too. Hollywood has insulated itself based on ideology rather than competence and the result is the gutter trash digital "cinema" that we've been getting the last 10-15 years.
