>My main character is named Caesar, both after the Roman, and after this guy who unionised farm workers in 1960s California
It's going to be three plus hours of boomer blabber
Maybe not but I have a feeling that it's adventurous enough to feel bold and full of fresh ideas and images. I intend to watch it at the theater because it seems to be ultimately an even/farewell tour in a sense
>In June 2024, one month after the film's premiere, Lionsgate acquired distribution rights to the film in the United States and Canada, scheduling a release for September 27, 2024.[83] However, it will likely have to share IMAX screens with the 10th anniversary IMAX 70 mm film re-release of Interstellar and will also have to give up those coveted premium large format screens a week later, as Joker: Folie à Deux, which was filmed with IMAX cameras, will be released in theaters on October 4.[84]
So it's only in IMAX for one fricking week, and with limited showtimes? That's some bullshit.
>a theater employee will actually have to stand near the screen and "talk" to the protagonist during a scene, blurring the lines between theater and cinema and making every screening unique die to the live performance aspect
It'll be fun. A lot of reviews have compared it to Southland Tales which was probably one of the most underrated movies of the 00's. People dismissed it, probably because its satire hit too close to home. Same as they did with Batman v Superman in the 10's. If Megalopolis is anything like it then it will indeed be kino.
Finding Shia Lahomosexual is in this movie really soured my interest in seeing it.
he is now a hypermasculine alpha male trad christian chad so you WILL watch it
>coppola
No
>TIME SLOP!!!
It'll either be the most kino film in decades or an embarrassing piece of shit, no inbetween
This. There's no chance of this being just some 5/10.
It can be mediocre, eg if he has grand ambitions but the script, editing, casting, acting etc is bad and its just interesting but not good

Will Coppola's buddy make an appearance?
'Clownhouse: The Director's Cut' confirmed for upcoming release
is anyone here a Daniel Larson fan? his girlfriend is in this & that's the main reason why i'm interested - plus it sounds kino
It might actually be a movie I'm willing to see in theaters just because it could go either way.

No this year's KINO will be my new movie SCHLOP. It's eight and a half hours of my Rottweiler Brutus licking his balls.

They know it'll sell out and that will help the movie's wider release. Scarcity etc
What the frick were they thinking with that release date? As if it wasn't enough of a guaranteed bomb.
>a theater employee will actually have to stand near the screen and "talk" to the protagonist during a scene, blurring the lines between theater and cinema and making every screening unique die to the live performance aspect
wtf? this can't be real
That's what they did for the festivals. I'm sure they're just gonna dub it in for regular showings.
>they're just gonna dub it in for regular showings
Francis Ford Coppola hasn't made a single decent film in THREE DECADES, there is zero chance this film will be kino
What matters is that it will be: we have the opportunity to see one of the all-time greatest directors does with what current technology provides
We saw that with Twixt and it was laughably awful
Twixt was an afterthought. This is a passion project spanning decades. It'll probably be flawed but grandiose and ambitious.
or it may be simplistic and moronic
Visually, sensorially, it's well-establish at this point that it's ambitious and cinematic in the purest sense of the word
it might be cringe kino thoughbeit

>Batman v Superman
Shut the frick up Armond.
I just watched the trailer and I can confirm it’s kino. If you know you know.
Maybe. I'll be there opening day. I'll bring the tub of garlic butter, someone else bring the crab legs. We'll feast together.
Didn't this movie already come out and everyone hated it then instantly forgot about it? Or was it just a screening or something?
It was shown at Cannes and the reactions were all over the place.
It was shown at film festivals in France and Sydney to mixed reactions. It hasn't had a public release yet.
No, it's going to flop.
