The X-Men office has already been busy retconning characters to be mutants, Pietro and Wanda don't need to be saddled with that baggage.

I unironically want this book to be the Muh Phoenix Cap who constantly racially abuses mutants especially Logan.
It'll be the other way around, with Cap having to just take all the snide whining and complaining from Cyclops, Monet and Psylocke while the Maximoff twins run interference and Deadpool snidely mouthing off on both sides.

On one hand it's Duggan but on the other hand Duggan loooooves the shit out of Cap, so much he eventually involves him in his non-Cap stories and Steve was the only hero in the story that he didn't involve in the pukeathon in Deadpool (Kamala and Miles didn't even get saved from being vomited on).
Duggan already wrote this team with like half of the characters in here. The major storyline were they started having problems with Cap was when the whole Hydra Cap thing happened. Steve was at odds with the other Uncanny Avengers because of his own plans.
Rogue generally was amicable with him but when it came to protecting mutants she went against him even though she was mostly respectful about it. Deadpool was weird because Duggan had it like he placed his self-worth and desire to be a hero on Cap so he was easily manipulated by Steve when the whole Hydra Cap thing happened. Quicksilver has always respected Steve and will get mad if people insult him but also isn't opposed to telling Steve off himself (Quicksilver and Hawkeye will give Cap grief but hate when other people do it).
Monet and Psylocke are the new characters so anything goes, if Duggan has them be nice to Cap the X-fags will shit themselves. They already hate this comic but will pirate it and hate-read it anyway.
Monet's not going to be. Duggan absolutely stans for her. Psylocke is the one to look for as the wildcard, since Kwanon having a personality is still newish territory for the few writers who remember she's not supposed to be a clone of Betsy.

That's been standard fare for X-Men comics for
nearly two decades, it doesn't help that the writers are almost always writing characters like Cap as ignorant at best, or adversarial at worst.
The weird thing is that if we change psylocke/Deadpool with Beast and Hawkeye it would be a classic avenger line up.
