The animation being cancelled has higher costs that goes to non-WB people (like having to pay Ellen or Close Enough - where they probably want to bring all the animation under WB and no longer keep the silo shit that WB did even before DISCO, which under AT&T they were going away from already so it may have been cancelled regardless).

JJ Abrams is under a contract with WB and they owe him cash whether they make an animation series or not and he just sits on his ass and twiddles his thumbs (likewise with Ryan Murphy and Millar, both at NF, who are going to cash paychecks no matter what they produce or not); not sure and am not wasting time researching producer/production company of the Supes show - however, both it and BATS are MADE in-house as well, and the DC IP is owned by Warners, so it's not like they have to pay an outside vendor, all the money stays in-house.

AND they do have to create content for streaming, it's not like they think they can do some Guy Fieri shit where he forces fat basement dweller to run around some LCS store seeing who can be the fastest to find a special Funko.

Nah Superman and Batman are the two IPs Zaslav wants to exploit. Plus they’re being made for Cartoon Network.

THIS as well, but in the same way the HP anniversary special showed up on cable after being on HBO Max, these will also show up on whatever they end up calling whatever HBO Max/Disco streaming is going to be called.

It's not like cable companies are still going to pay XX pennies per cable customer just because WB stops showing scripted content on TNT/TBS, etc. and turn it into more reality garbage, somethings going to give and like Universal dropping NBS Sports and Olympic Channel, what it really means is that some of these cable channels will be dropped.

So it may mean really that something like Boomerang may stop being a thing, not because WB doesn't suddenly not own all this free content, but that Comcast, Spectrum, etc., no longer want to pay for ANOTHER animation channel.

They can still cancel shows at that stage. Season 2 of WatXM and Thundercats 2011 had many scripts written before they were canned.

Have we seen literally ANYTHING of these? Other than these two pictures?

There were pics of Batman's full design and Clark/Lois/Jimmy hanging out at a park, but they're still early in production. I know Superman's been recording and they got Michael Emerson as Brainiac.

They might do something different with him. The last Batman show made Dent a narcissistic butthole who harassed Batman even before he came Two-Face.

        >The last Batman show made Dent a narcissistic butthole who harassed Batman even before he came Two-Face.
That's fricking stupid, Two-Face only works because of the tragedy of Harvey Dent, If you make him a piece of shit, who cares when he turns bad?

          Anonymous

I wasn't a fan of the direction they took Harvey in either, but we never really got to see him go full Two-Face, so we don't know how the final version of that character would've gone.

I liked his voice acting, at least. And the concepts for the design seemed good, even if I doubt it would've been as gruesome in the final product.

Depends on how close to being finished they are.

They're not going to can something that is ready to go, no matter how shitty it is. If it still needs millions to finish, it could certainly be canned.

Both are pretty early. Caped Crusader just finished its writing and voice recordings are on the way. Superman is currently doing recordings and some animation work is probably done already. They would be more vulnerable to cancellation, but since they're meant for Cartoon Network, they might leave them alone.

They're safer from cancellation by the virtues of airing on Cartoon Network and HBO Max (rather than being Max exclusives) and being animated "family" show (a category that is reportedly going to at least mostly left alone).

Caped Crusader also has the virtue of being executive produced by a bunch of big names that I'm pretty sure Zaslav and his entourage know shouldn't be messed with.
