It's a metaphor for the circus of politics, you gotta have a Jimmy Neutron brain to understand it

The events of the movie were all in service of the first wish. By the end of the movie, Aladdin is a prince.

You're saying the Genie knew it would all work out ok?

I think one of 3 three things happened :
      1. Genie never made him a prince, simply gave him everything he needed to appear as a prince
      2. Jaffar was able to cancel Genie's magic once he became the world's most powerful sorcerer
      3. Jaffar merely forced Aladdin back into his peasant clothes and revealed that Ali was a fake, and so Jasmine put two and two together that the Genie made him a prince. But Aladdin remains a prince at the end.

        >1. Genie never made him a prince, simply gave him everything he needed to appear as a prince
Also the 3rd animated film somewhat retcons this, as he was already the "Prince of Thieves" and hence why he was a Diamond in the Rough in the first place. Genie probably knew something was wrong when he tried to grant the wish in the first place.

"The Prince of Thieves" isn't a real Monarchy. That wouldn't make him a prince, just the Son of a crime lord with a nicer sounding title.

In the grand scheme of things, that’s how all politics works anyway. It’s not as though the sultan’s authority over agrabah is any more genuine than cassim’s over the 40 thieves. It’s all social constructs. Which is why all genie can really do to grant aladdin’s wish is to give him a nicer hat, since that’s all a royal title ever is.

In support of point 1, Bullshit Baffles Brains. Never underestimate how much you can get away with by acting like you are the part.
Besides, most of the definition of Prince is Rich Motherfricker. Having a zoo parade and a metric shittonne of servants waving golden statues around more or less ticks those boxes. Which brings us back to my first point.

The movie is kind of weird about it. It's a mix of 1 and 2.
Aladdin initially goes back on his word to free Genie because he apparently still needed him, implying that Prince Ali was a charade that required Genie to ever present to continue.
Then after Jafar is defeated, Genie offers to make Al a prince again, which doesn't make much sense because the sultan already knows he's fake. And the fact that he needs to redo it implies Jafar canceled the wish, but what does that even mean if Al was never a real prince as the previous scene implied?

Aladdin is a really mediocre animated film

Music and Robin Williams is great though. Which are good enough reasons to rewatch it every once and awhile.

Yes, the film is a lesson in why you should never trust a comedian. Especially one that makes jokes that date like milk.

There are TONS of "Princes" in the Middle East.
In Ancient times if you rolled into town with a ton of swag and fanfare, who could possibly know you're not a prince from some far off domain? Are they going to check wikipedia and see your lineage was edited an hour ago?

He asked to be a prince, but he didn't ask for a kingdom, so the wish made him a different kind of prince, one that didn't have a kingdom.

Gritty underworld prequel where the Genie and Aladdin's Dad are slaughtering thousands to secure his role as King of Thieves

I assume Genie just created an entire new country so Aladdin could be prince of it. No idea if said country still exists.

      3.Genie's freedom

Always wish for Genie's freedom, tends to put you in their good graces and that's useful for not getting fricked over.

I wish for a small box. Roughly 9 inches on all sides. On one side is a door with a latch. On top is a button. When I put something inside the box, it doesn't matter what it is, provided it isnt alive... or gaseous... close the latch and press the button, that object turns to solid gold.

You're gonna see so many golden green army men and legos.

      1. Shapeshifting is pretty great tbh
      2. Superman prime's power and control
      3. Freedom for the Genie

I think what makes the most sense is that the Genie was bound to do whatever was needed to keep up the illusion. If the Sultan wanted to visit Ali's domain the Genie would have to conjure up subjects, a palace, etc.

The point is both the Genie and Aladdin agreed that this wasn't enough to make him a "real" prince, they just disagreed on what should be done about it. He was a magical prince, entirely dependant on the Genie's magic to sustain the charade.

There's a prevailing theory that because of his wish Aladdin's dad became the "King of theives." So technically speaking he is a prince, just you know, not a rich one. Genie just gave him a pimpmobile.
