This show kind of soured my perception of the US military. I thought the officers were actually competent but ignoring the possibly exaggerated portrayal of people like Captain America and Schwetje, Ferrando looks like a fricking idiot. Sheer incompetence doesn't get picked up by the higher ups as long as the mission is a success and there's minimal casualties or none at all. But then again the Iraqi military and the resistance is magnitudes dumber it's a miracle they even coordinate the ambushes they fail at. They just stand in the ditch and sporadically shoot, missing almost every shot and leave themselves exposed like it's shooting practise. Even when they're in good positions and we'll prepared, they somehow manage to never harm a single soldier, the fricking electricity cables touched more Americans than the Iraqi bullets did? Was that battalion just incredibly lucky? Apparently only 2% of soldiers shoot to kill when faced with the opportunity and another 15% shoot to wound so I guess they were just a bunch of normies who went in for the pay and benefits, not grunts who want to kill.
Still a great show, up there with band of brothers for top military TV shows. Now that I think of it, there aren't any others of note.
