With as much effort as DC has been putting into Black Adam instead Shazam over the past decade, will the Black Adam movie be the final nail in his coffin?

Probably, The Rock is pushing for Black Adam vs Superman, and with DC comics barely caring about Shazam while Black Adam is getting a maxi, synergy might just kill him for good.

Don't forget Billy's getting replaced again, but by Mary instead of Freddy this time.

I find it kinda sad how part of their justification for this is that Billy's been in the spotlight for too long, even though he's barely done anything at all since the New 52 started.

This quote from C.C Beck about what DC has been doing to captain marvel hits harder every time they do something with the captain marvel/marvel family

            >Movie sequel sounds like ass
            >Billy's last appearance was that shit Titans book
I don't understand why he can't get another solo book. There's nothing wrong with the character or his material.

This is also really weird because now people are acting like this is some sort of competition. Mary is a great supporting character to Billy's book, and she's NEVER been "overshadowed". Hell her problem is the constant "Hey remember evil Mary?!" plot bullshit that keeps getting rehashed.

I don't believe there's an intentional sabotage or bias towards Black Adam, it's just that WB knows fans wanted Johnson to play the character and are catering to the actor hard. On the comic end Billy is just a symptom of a bigger problem: DC SUCKS ASS AT HANDING OUT BOOKS TO CHARACTERS. For the past 5 to 10 years, DC has mismanaged their roster to an absurd degree. If it's not Batman or soon getting a movie, it's sidelined. That's the bullshit we're really dealing with here. When's the last time we saw Red Tornado? Where's my Plastic Man book? Fricking Blue Beetle is only getting catered to again because of the new show.

Shazam is a unique case. DC actively hates the char. They go out of their way to shit on the char be it accused a pedo, tortured in hell, mind control, or something else stupid. Only reason he gets books is for holding on to the char and giving the finger to marvel/Fawcott.

BA is only getting respected because everyone has been begging for the Rock to play him and the crusty management's lust for money beats petty vengeance.

I find it kinda sad how part of their justification for this is that Billy's been in the spotlight for too long, even though he's barely done anything at all since the New 52 started.

Don't mind her getting the spot light, just wish she was using the white version of the suit.

That's just fanboy salt given current events, I don't believe that for a second. He gets it no worse than anyone else, and if they actually hated him you would definitely know it

Red suit is better, and classic. Better visual indicator of her kinship with Billy too.

I view it as stepping up from under his shadow and with the big ass bolt on it, you know they're still related in some way. No different than 90's superboy and superman.

This shit has been going back decades. Non bat chars just get thrown to Z lister and never used or worse, die off screen to hype char of the week. He is trotted out front in center for embarrassment, a restart to inexperienced newbie, or corruption/death.

See this is the stupid ass mentality that started the upcoming Mary book autism. No, she's not "under his shadow", she's is and always has been an equal. Don't make up shit just because you prefer a different costume. I'll stick with the classic thank you

Its opinions anon, not 10 commandments facts. I don't give a shit if you like red because it covers up your periods better. I just like the white for style and reasons stated before.

Then why are you making up BS to make your opinion seem more validated? That's weird man. You could have just left it as "I just like the white one given the stories associated with it" and that would have been fine.

DC doesn't hate Billy, at least not anymore, but rather they simply don't care about him, they find expendable and uninteresting, which is why he gets changed and replaced so much.
Black Adam on the other hand, is more interesting for them, as the brooding anti-villain that's as strong as Superman.

                >Shazam is a unique case. DC actively hates the char.

It's a bit odd how that turned out. Back in the 70s and early 80s, they pushed him as hard as Superman and Batman in merch, and in the old DC comics style guide and calendar, the only villains to make the all-villain calendar that weren't Supes or Bat rogues (with Cheetah randomly thrown in) were Sivana and Mr. Mind.

Can't help but notice Sivana is getting kicked in the back by the Penguin there.

Cheetah is also about to have herself a worm-y snack.

I guess even the Marvel Family villains also get shit on. Maybe there is something to this conspiracy!

No, Freddy was dying of cancer, and Billy couldn't help him (his powers weren't working because reasons) so he just walked away from his family, and asked the fricking TITANS of all people for help.

Does this mean they are going to also retire Zod now that Black Adam will be Supes new flying brick rival.

Yeah. They put Shazam the same week as avatar 2 because they don’t care if it does well or not, it’s not important to them as Black Adam doing well.

DC doesn't really care for any character they've acquired from other companies. I've mentioned this on Cinemaphile before, but DC has a tendency of treating all their acquired characters like Captain Marvel, Blue Beetle, and Plastic Man and more recently Question as almost purely comic relief, and if not comic relief they're mostly used to prop up their own characters. Like how Captain Atom has blown up about ninety times, or showing up as the evil government stooge that Superman or somebody gets to beat up.
