>witness unexpectedly denies his own statement
>whole courtroom finds this hilarious for some reason
>witness who appearantly wasn't searched for weapons pulls out gun
>doesn't shoot, just points it at Harvey for several seconds
>Harvey looks down
>Harvey looks up
>Harvey takes the gun and punches the guy
>makes a quip about how Maroni should have bought an american gun (???)
>courtroom is now suddenly on Harveys side and applauds him
What did Nolan mean by this?
He does shoot. The gun jams. That's why Harvey tells him next time to buy an American-made gun.
how the frick was the mob supposed to assassinate Harvey Dent with a gun made out of jam? that's moronic
It wasn't supposed to but the Joker pulled one of his jokes and swapped it for a squirt gun.
>the Joker pulled one of his jokes
boners, they are called boners
Now this is a deep lore reference
Based bonerbros
Bone the world, brother
Should have added a loud *click, click, click* sound, then have the guy look at the gun while going "uh oh..." so that people like me would get it.
Harvey also should've added on to his line saying "next time buy american... because the gun you just tried to assassinate me with jammed"
who the hell is Jammed? the guy that gave him the gun?
Yep, agree 100%. There should have also been a cross section of the gun on the screen like an infomercial that shows the internal mechanism jamming. The jamming parts should have glowed red too in order to show the audience how they should feel more clearly. And finally, there should have been a background actor who turns to look directly in the camera and says "Hey, dis chump's gun just jammed! Dat means dat da bullet didn't come out da end and sumthin musta went wrong inside da gun to make the bullet not work no more! Awwww shucks!
This shit was just too hard to follow and Nolan is a hack
There is a clicking sound, and the mobster briefly looks down at this gun with a worried expression.
>so that people like me would get it.
Not every film is aimed at the <70 IQ demographic. Even American filmmakers have higher standards.
Sorry guys, i'll add a /s for you next time.
people like you are why TDKR needed a full frontal christian bale shot for audiences to know that he didn't die in the plane.
The actual kino ending of purely alfred smiling and leaving was ruined by test audiences
Harvey was a MAGA chud?
Confused gun lover with who bases his morality on a coin flip like a psycho. I'd say absolutely
What's that on his mask
what was his plan? that if he kills dent in the middle of the courtroom he would get off scott free?
Obviously HE wouldnt but other prosecutors would fear to try to incriminate Maroni.
>Falcone's Justa Fawlgaiem, the brains of the operation
Why did Thebest Ofus move to treat him as a hostile witness after this? He just admitted Falcone was using a fake identity on top of him being the crime boss
Do women find this man attractive? Creeps me right the frick out.
Well, he is white. Don't you wish you were white, Rahul?
>Rahul
What ethnicity are you trying to insult me with
They don't even know. Implying you're any ethnicity but white is an instant win in the mind of the chud
Rahul sounds like a Germanic name, I don't know why the troony insulted me with it
rahul is a common male indian name
You forgot to mention that the whole scene is like 5 seconds long. I absolutely hate Nolan's ADHD spastic editing.
his movies always have too much shit on them so he tries to make up for it with these flash scenes where sometimes you're not even sure what the frick is going on
the result is most of it looks theatrical, which at least doesn't feel too out of place in a superhero movie, but it is detrimental in more grounded movies like japanheimer
>Take the Batman into custody
>....
>I am the Batman
Was it supposed to be comedic?
't shoot, just points it at Harvey for several seconds
Did he just want to intimidate Harvey?
When I first watched this I was a kid (bite me boomers) and I thought this was incomprehensible because it was an adult movie but watching it as an adult I have exactly the same reaction.
>makes a quip about how Maroni should have bought an american gun (???)
>courtroom is now suddenly on Harveys side and applauds him
In the current year they’d cancel him for such brazen patriotism.
What? In the current year liberals are like Bush neocons except against Russians instead of Arabs.
Hating America is seen as a proxy for hating American culture like Black worship, trannies, etc.
>witness unexpectedly denies his own statement
>whole courtroom finds this hilarious for some reason
Because the mob guy was making a fool out of Harvey.
>Harvey takes the gun and punches the guy
>makes a quip about how Maroni should have bought an american gun (???)
>courtroom is now suddenly on Harveys side and applauds him
Because Harvey was a badass and defeated the guy.
Anon have you ever been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder?
>Was Maroni the mafiosi boss?
>No
>BAHAHAHAHA you gotta give it to him, he truly made a fool out of this lawyer, that's hilarious
so in American courtrooms whoever is the funniest wins? like if I rape some prostitute and then threw a bunch of money at her in the courtroom and told her to bring a better looking woman next time and people laughed I would just get off?
Who was May D’Gunn ? And why point out she was was American ? Everyone in the movie presumably was since it takes place in an American city
>witness who appearantly wasn't searched for weapons pulls out gun
One of the big things of the film is the rampant corruption in the Gotham police force
He could have been carrying it in his prison pocket. Maybe that's why the gun jammed, it was clogged up with poop.
These are the kind of details people don't realize are fully covered in the novelization. Maroni has a side-operation manufacturing weapons and they smuggle them primarily using rectal stealth. Customers start complaining their M16s don't fire due to poop in the barrels so Maroni kidnaps Gotham's top fecalologist and forces him develop a vaccine that uses nanobots to turn poop into natural weapon lubricant. Customers get even better weapon performance and the gun mules get a bit of an easier evacuation of the merchandise.
Until the Joker steals all existing serum for his own personal use, that is. Its pretty much an entirely new b-plot that runs through the story
How do I unread a post. I just had tea, and I feel like throwing up reading this.
This movie was great but theres always been one scene I didn't understand. When Batman is talking to those fake bat men and one asks what makes him any different than them, what does he mean when he yells "I'M NOT DARREN HOCKEYPANTS!"? Is Darren Hockeypants the name of that character in the comics?
>gangster pulls out his gun
>"mr harvey dent i'm going to blow half your face off"
>i whisper in the cinema to my gf 'this must be where he turns into two faced
>gun jams
>no pussy for me tonight
>makes a quip about how Maroni should have bought an american gun
He actually says, "If you want to kill a public servant, I recommend U. Byron Merrikin". It was foreshadowing that Harvey had a dark past since he knew the precise name of a assassin who specialized in killing people from his line of work. Why did he know Merrikin? Did he use his services before to eliminate his rivals? It's that subtle mystery that makes Nolan so cherished among film connoisseurs.
I liked how Bane knew Gordan's real identity as a league assassin gone rogue. The line "Uire Yew? Here?" When his men bring Uire into the sewer showcases that Bane was not as well-informed and in control as he initially appeared. It foreshadowed Bane not being in charge, and not being the ultimate antagonist
>Search him, Thenii Will Kilewe
It was pretty weird for Bane to say that guy's full name like that. Gordon could have searched his name and blew Bane's whole operation
Is the city was locked down for several months how did Selena Kyle have a fresh apple?
How was there enough food for everybody? Even considering perishables
at least they had apples to eat
Was this scene supposed to be intentionally camp? It was so absurdly silly, like something out of 1960s batman
the entire movie is camp
someone needs to make an edit where he actually gets shot
Its a comicbook movie
>polymer/porcelain/whatever gun goes through detector
yeah okay, movie
>but the bullets are made out of
???
Would that actually conceal the bullets and prevent them from being detected? Some engineering nerd surely had the foresight to think of this, right?
I was thinking about this scene yesterday. Nolan is autistic and this made sense in his head. Same with the dark knight rises opening scene. It's complete nonsense.
Memes aside, this scene was about Dent being able to throw as much punches in the light as Batman does in the dark.
