I was 11 when Predator came out. I could relate to Dutch and his crew, because I could imagine myself growing up to become a badass soldier and being happy with that outcome. Never goes after prey. The girl ain't the best fighter or hunter, but is very good at tracking with the help of the dog and knows medicine.

There is nothing deliberately feminist about Alien. Ripley could be a man or a woman and nothing about her character would need to change. The movie would work just as well with a man playing Ripley. Of course in practice Ripley being a woman adds certain nuances because seeing a woman in danger does tend to cause a different emotional effect than seeing a man in danger, but I think those are relatively minor details. Overall, I do not think that Alien was in any way deliberately made as a feminist movie. Now Aliens, on the other hand, maybe was. James Cameron has always liked to deliberately put strong women heroes into his stuff.

Yeah but in Predator 2 one middle-aged, not particularly buff cop takes out a predator but it's still a good movie because the way the cop takes the predator down is largely believable except for that kinda cheesy end part where the predator just lets down his guard for some reason. So it all depends, you can make a good predator movie with a 100 lb girl killing the predator, you just have to make sure to do it right with good writing and believable plot that preserves the predator's mystique rather than making it look silly. So the 100 lb girl would have to be driven to the very edge of her mental and physical abilities before somehow managing to defeat it. But the very idea of that happening isn't absurd, it's just that usually nowadays when writers do the whole strong woman thing they write it in a very lazy implausible way.

Even then it's not like anyone was praising the ending, critics from the actual day of release called the final battle 'Underwhelming and anticlimactic', look it up for yourself. This one took that and went even worse and people are shocked it's not landing, seriously? It was a bad ending to an overall pretty bad movie, nothing more and nothing less, and if they'd been more talented they probably could've delivered something better than "Worse than the ending people already didn't like".
Got ya, well I haven't seen Prey and I have no particular desire to, I was just trying to say that there is nothing in itself wrong about having some skinny girl beat a badass sci-fi alien, as long as it's well written and the writers aren't trying to force politics on people. Yeah, I love Predator 2 but I have always found the ending to be a little underwhelming. i wish they had not ended it with the predator basically just making a dumb mistake of standing right in front of Danny Glover and letting his guard down. But I still love the movie overall, just wish they had gone with some slightly different ending.
And people who say "but in the first movie it took a squad of 7 buff guys to take the predator down" forget that the all the buff guys except one got killed and at the end it was an unarmed Arnie who had to use his ingenuity to win, so really both of the first two predator movies are about a human winning against the predator 1-on-1.
