Death Note is better in every single way

NGE is just very generic by modern standards. It’s one of those ”you had to be there” things. Ground breaking when it came out sure, but done to death since 2010.
Guillermo del Toro did a great job with Pacific Rim, this is the closest thing I've seen to an actual mecha-like kino that is watchable.
Anno himself could direct a decent live-action but he lacks the actor directing skills required.
