No, the same way live action PPG was heavily panned so badly they cancelled it

People would directly compare it to previous animated versions less, which means we wouldn't get art like picrel

Society's more used to weird live action adaptations of cartoons so probably. Weird animated adaptations of cartoons is new territory, which is why Velma's getting raked over the coals

The new Velma is ironically one of the most cartooney version of Scooby-Doo. A live action version wouldn't be able to have the gore or people flinging each other around

This era of "if the room laughs it goes in" writing is such utter dogshit

Fred is so weirdly characterized in the series. On one hand they make him out to be incompetent to the point he cant use a knife and fork right and insult him constantly, and on the other he is pulling shit like this that is both impressive and something that should have led to a police report.

This era of "if the room laughs it goes in" writing is such utter dogshit

Like that block of wood would have killed Velma if it hit her and a kid got his leg chopped off when he threw it back. Why the frick isn't there a court case about this when a high schooler just attempted murder and another high schooler just got his leg chopped off in the crossfire?

The show seems to want you to take it seriously with its 'dark, adult' story, yet then pulls shit like this out of its back pocket and no one bats an eye to it

Tonally the show goes from "take this seriously Velma has horrible PTSD" to "we're doing Airplane but animated" and back again on a dime, which is part of why nothing works.

          >"we're doing Airplane but animated"
Even that's being generous because that implies its being funny. It's more like 'we're doing Epic Movie but animated', where all the jokes are more them just showing a reference or meta humor without really making actual jokes.

Of course. Cartoons are for children and live action is for adults.

I still don't get that 420 joke where they just insult their own audience for watching cartoons. If you guys didn't like people watching cartoons why the frick did you make an adult cartoon? Just make it live action like you apparently wanted to or make a cartoon for kids if the idea of adults watching cartoons is so fricking appalling

It's pretty clear that they didn't want to make a cartoon.

they're being tongue-in-cheek, they don't literally mean adults shouldn't watch cartoons

They made Velma a huge butthole in the series so no. She just isn't likable and it's unrealistic how many people seem to have romantic feelings for her despite her claiming to be a social outcast.

They probably would've been able to use Scooby-Doo if it was live action so yeah

Yes, a lot more jokes would land and the acting would be way better
    It still wouldn't be good
Also it might be more Veronica Mars than Riverdale

maybe, but it would've also been more expensive and thus more likely to get canceled by HBO Max after one season

No. The writing was still bad.

Despite what some say, having your character talk about how much they hate white people constantly is not entertaining.

If it was live action and ran on the CW, it would last for 10 seasons. as an animated show on HBO Max, it'll be lucky if it makes it to 2

If it started off as a live action show it would've been killed in development. Hell as an animated show it still should've been killed in development
